Title: Can someone clear this up?
Post by: StraightFlushBlocker on December 26, 2005, 09:36:16 AM
A few days ago I read an article on CardPlayer.com about how poker is still growing, how cardrooms are opening/expanding, how there will be nearly 8,000 players at this year's WSOP Main Event.  Then today I goto CNN.com to check the news and see this article: "Poker's Hot Streak Fading" http://money.cnn.com/2005/12/25/news/midcaps/poker.reut/index.htm?section=money_latest

Who to believe?

Sales of poker chips may have gone down, because every household has got a set or two already.
It is a fad IMO but many more decades left in it yet, as I am watching my 13 year old playing WSOP on Xbox and my 11year old playing world championship poker on PS2 upstairs, I am currently playing 3 tables online, and the mrs has just gone out to work!!  Ain't life Grand!! :D

Welcome to Blonde BTW  :hello:

The tailing off of the poker boom can only be a good thing IMHO.

Online and live cardrooms will have to worry less about attracting all the new customers and more about improving the service they already offer their existing ones.
I'm already noticing this start to happen. The best cardrooms and internet sites offer a much better product than they did this time last year.
