Post by: deeiron on November 04, 2010, 08:34:22 PM
100 runner tournament 45 min blinds with 10k starting stack on GUKPT type structure in a super tough tournie

If all players are of equal standard then it would be 9/1 on a 100% book.

Obviously more details of players etc would be needed before a price was actually agreed.

Doubt you'll get any interest unless you put details on the thread.

Super tough tourney ? I take it this is the npf comp which will involve a lot of people not taking the poker serious at all and will be more interested in getting drunk and having fun ?

Sorry if I caused any offence but seems pretty ridic getting your knickers in a twist over something so small. Pretty standard Davey deeiron teamdobbs Collins tbh.

lol surprised at ya lol tbh Tightend as you know Im not a proppa bookie and simply adding an addition to our Championship which no one else does.
I even asked anyone else if they wanted to offer better odds or take up the risk to enable an extra dimension to our event. As in most things people want everything done for them by others and at least Im prepared to put the effort in doing this for our members with all the risk monetary wise being taken by me. Also remeber that theres no Betfair like in normal circumstances to be able lay liabilities off here.

surprised tbh that none of the big gamblers aint snapped this up on here as they will know the true value and as such can narrow the odds to what is an acceptable bet

I wasn't trying to have a pop, I know the score.

Hope you have a good event, and I trust the venue has extra bar staff on.

This thread is possibly the strangest thing I have ever seen.

Why is the list of runners and odds being treated like it is an FBI file on Al Qaeda activity?

Why does Pleno have to sight references for this list?

Also the definition of super tough tourney, when it is a forum meet up with people getting hammered and no offence to those listed but how many would be considered to be in the top 100 players in the UK?

What is this tournament?

What is npf?

Whose prices are these?

NPF is Newcastle Poker Forum. A local poker forum aimed at local North East Poker players

The tournament is its annual Championship which is a 100 runner max event 10k stack 45 min clock and part of the poker community calendar we have created in our area for local players. The event is viewed by some as a day to get smashed and by by others as a serious event to try and beat a good quality 100 runner field.

The prices posted here are the prices on offer by me at our forum for anyone interested in having a bet for the day and is only a small part of stuff we organise to make the event rather special and anyone who has played in it or any of our other evnts Im sure will vouch for the effort we put in and how enjoyable they are to take part in.

Year 1 2008 the book made £450 and the FULL amount was donated to a members mother who tragically lost her husband weeks before the event took place

Year 2 2009 Myself and Cardguard lost nearly £1000 due to some dickhead winning at daft odds

year 3 2010 is the odds you see now. I wish to place the bet on the said player to reduce a large liabilty should he make the final table

The event can be followed on live updates and possibly on audio with compere MC Cardguard Kid providing the action as it happens

I quoted at super tuff tourney as its the tournie in Newcastle that most locals would love to win mate. Its also super tough to win because of the widespread of 100 players and how they approach the game. Im sure youll admit getting past certain types is just as tough if not tougher than playing shall we say"established" players.

The game is held a bit higher I guarantee you as more than just a forum meet up

The prices are farcical

1 - Price up event at 450000%
2 - Ask if anyone wants to price it up at 120%
3 - Lay bets on 1, back at 2
4 - Profit.

Nice try son, nice try.

In all fairness, this is the reason I didn't bet. But it's not a big enough event for betfair to offer odds so the admin team + another member have put up odds which they can afford to payout to give people the chance to take an interest when they are knocked out.

As I said, if I were to bet it would be to make money therefore I'm not betting

NPF is a fun forum and actually has alot of winning players. The forum actually has realllllly good traffic and lots of new posts considering that its main audience are all from the same place. The best thing about the NPF is that you get to meet the forum members regularly and I would guess I know/know of over 85% of the active members. On Blonde I would say I have met less than 5%. It was set up by Collins, father+son and has got like 100ish really active posters. You can say alot about the NPF but the way they run their tournaments are pretty top notch.

The prices are ridiculous, no two ways about that. But you have to remember TD is doing this off his own back mainly for the amusement and entertainment of the forum. There obv isn't one value person on that whole sheet and what is perceived to be the "worst" player is only 5/1 to make the final table, so for anyone putting money on, the odds are basically irrelevant and they just want to have a sweat/burn money.

Personally I'm banned from the NPF. Although I come across as an "arrogant no it all" to the owners, I did spend alotttttttt of time helping out the forum. There were two total beginners who I tried to help alot and they often asked me stuff on msn and although I'm not a great player I felt confident helping them out and I'm happy to say they both winning players now. I was by far the most active person on the PHA on there and often used to get people coming upto me in the casino saying how they really enjoyed my posts.

Many people on the NPF have said they aren't going to post again and their accounts are left alone, S2C the owner of the forum basically said something along the lines of "if you don't like it, do 1" i was really offended by this as I had been really constructive throughout the 2 years I'd posted on there. I was pissed off and told him I wasn't going to post anymore blah blah. Next week I realised I still wanted to post as lots of IRL mates posted and stuff, I was insta banned and got "get the message - you're not welcome". Bit of a kick in the balls but never mind. Basically the forum is uber cliquey but has benefited Newcastle poker.

cliffs:

I explain why the NPF is good
I explain why the odds seem naff
I explain that I'm banned hense the personal attack on me ITT :)

I dont really understand the logic behind this reply tbh as from way its put you obv think the prices are too tight yet no one else is prepared to offer anything better when requested.
If the prices are farcical then to me then that means someone here should be able to see the the opportunity to make some money by taking this bet as you all seem to be in agreement the odds need increasing

Funny how so many at NPF have said " wow theres some sick value in there for certain players"

Cant please all I suppose

Had an offer anyway so there ya go

Thanks to all for taking part

I can certainly see why this is described as a super tough tournament when players are that good at understanding odds

thread gets 5 thumbs up from me

You probs dont me but I know from many good sources that you are a very trustworthy guy and would be willing to do business with you if we can come to an agreement. Im sure if you want some references for my honesty and trustworthyness then any amount of credible people within poker will vouch for me. I would even transfer you the money if you so require before the event if thats what you need to trust me.

From your point of view I suggest you dont get blinded by what I have offered and simply offer what you see as favourable odds from your point of view. I do have an offer on the table but not quite for the full bet  and price I want

Have you been offered bigger?

When is the event?

Will there be updates anywhere?

Ah, you better take the bigger offer then, I wouldn't mind sharing the risk at the price you have laid, but I'm not going to offer overs on an event where I know about 5 of the runners.

Good luck getting the geezer knocked out before the final.
