Title: Bankroll Management
Post by: bundle on December 27, 2005, 04:27:13 AM
I think i read somewhere that you should not sit down with more than 5% of your entire Bankroll..

Is this correct ?

As the new year is nearly here, i want to manage my bankroll by the book, and keep good records  so is 5% about right?

Cheers

It depends on the game.

5% of your bankroll in a 1000 runner field MTT is way too high a %
5% of your bankroll in a weak passive holdem cash game is fine.

In cash games, you should have at least 20* the maximum buyin as your bankroll. So 5% is fine.

Cheers flushy.

Yes i did't make it clear. (AS ALWAYS)  I was talking about low limit cash games.

If you are playing fixed limit cash games a good rule is 300 times the big bet so for 5-10, 3000$ although i like to have more as i have an erratic style in limit cash.

If you are playing big bet games then it depends more on the style of the game, is it a wild game where the average pot is 100 big blinds, or is the average stack 10 bb's!

These are all factors to consider, but its a fair assumption that you dont really want to go below 20 buyins for any game.
