Title: Waiting in line for 8 hours for Eurostar...
Post by: The Camel on December 21, 2010, 06:13:36 PM
So, people are waiting in -4 degrees temps to get on a train to Paris.

Do you think it's acceptable to go to the front of the queue and buy someone's place?

How would you feel if you were standing behind people who sold their spot?

If you had waited for 8 hours how much would you sell your place in the line for?

Don't see how this would affect me Keith.

sigh - you haven't got grips with modern entrepeneurship in the global economy.  You should be looking to add value to your spot and sell it for more.

Pushing in, it might be rude but it adds value!

I don't see how you can be annoyed with people for selling their place, you wait the same amount of time either way so it's all good.

why would someone pay more for a spot that is behind the original spot for more?

Because you give them a 50% off voucher for next time or your watch or something.

If I knew the answer to that I'd be in the queue now getting rich!  There might for instance be an attractive young lady right beside you in the queue and the lech buying your spot might fancy his chances.

The point is that if you attempt to be competitive by price cutting, you will only get further undercut by ppl from mumbai call centres.

I wouldn't queue for 8 hours in -4 degrees temp, unless Melissa Sneekes was waiting for me at the Paris station.

Yes. Can't see why not.

Pissed off that I didn't know there were spots ahead of me for sale.

If I had waited 8 hours for something there's no way I'd be selling that spot. If I did there's no way that anybody would pay the price because it would be in to 5 figures.

Best way to get to Switzerland (to visit your money) is to fly Swiss Air to Zurich from London City.

We only had  to wait an hour, them swiss pilots have snow all year round, and know how to land in icy conditions

Yes

How would you feel if you were standing behind people who sold their spot?
Would be happy if they sold it for a lot as i know i have an asset. Would be sad if they sold it for hardly anything because it would mean i had waited 8 hours in a line for a place worth peanuts

If you had waited for 8 hours how much would you sell your place in the line for?
£800 seems fair enough, a oner an hour.

You wrote that you were on the GNER - (ECML as it is now) & were using the wifi as the train whizzed through the countryside. Which impressed you muchly.

Oh yeah, at my age things that happened about a year ago are pretty hazy.

Forgot all about that episode, ignorant tossers.
