Title: Dusk Till Dawn Post by: BonzerJaguar on December 22, 2010, 03:56:10 PM Looking at going to DTD Nottingham in the next few weeks but would be getting a lift from my girlfriend - we live about an hour away, now this would be my first time in a live tourney and don't really want her to just get home and then me ringing up to say I've bust out already.
Just wondering if I'm in the tourneys is there much for her to do around the club, is there a lounge area etc? Cheers in advance! Title: Re: Dusk Till Dawn Post by: boldie on December 22, 2010, 03:58:38 PM MrsB thoroughly enjoyed herself...up to a point when we went down.
Just make sure Boshi doesn't end up talking to your Mrs, you won't hear the end off it "He's lovely, charming etc." Title: Re: Dusk Till Dawn Post by: GreekStein on December 22, 2010, 03:59:04 PM Yeah mate there's a lounge area, bar and sofas as well as computers - she's able to use the internet access on any for as long as she wants.
There's also a cinema across the road. gl Title: Re: Dusk Till Dawn Post by: BonzerJaguar on December 22, 2010, 04:06:58 PM Cheers, hopefully I'll be able to persuade her to come and hang around then!
Any tips for a first-timer playing live, don't want to turn up and make a complete tit of myself ;D Title: Re: Dusk Till Dawn Post by: RED-DOG on December 22, 2010, 04:11:35 PM Cheers, hopefully I'll be able to persuade her to come and hang around then! there is the internet there also that might consume some time Title: Re: Dusk Till Dawn Post by: BonzerJaguar on December 22, 2010, 04:18:10 PM Maybe not an hour but a good 40 minutes, with all the road developments what are going on so thought best to overestimate rather than under ;).
Cheers for all the tips. Hopefully I won't do anything too stupid :D Title: Re: Dusk Till Dawn Post by: henrik777 on December 22, 2010, 05:03:04 PM newark to notts doesnt take an hour btw:) there is the internet there also that might consume some time His girlfriend is driving !! Everyone has to learn, and there are some who've been playing for years who still do stupid things and never learn.
Good luck in the comp :)up Title: Re: Dusk Till Dawn Post by: Laxie on December 22, 2010, 06:34:22 PM Give a shout on here closer to time. Might arrange to meet a few more blondes while you're there.

Just sit and enjoy the game if you are courteous towards the other players you will have no problem. Announce your action. Remember, we've all been there. The most common that always marks out a newbie is getting caught out by the single oversized chip rule. If you intend to raise, either put in at least 2 chips (525, 1025, etc), and/or announce, clearly, what you're raising to. If you just throw in a 1000 without saying anything when the blinds are 25/50, it's a call, and there'll be a big newbie arrow pointing at your head :). If you have no change and want to raise it to 200, say that BEFORE you throw the 1000 in. But it's great. I still remember my first live tourney (only 3 years ago, at DTD), and it's an exhilarating experience. Give a shout on here closer to time. Might arrange to meet a few more blondes while you're there. This. I'm there at least once a week, and there are many here who are more frequent than that. Before I moved house I did this journey from near Collingham, and it was only 40 mins from there (Newark + about 8 mins). Easy easy journey, A46, A52, ring road. My record getting home late night was 28 mins. But remember, speed kills. ;whistle; Good luck! Title: Re: Dusk Till Dawn Post by: BonzerJaguar on December 23, 2010, 06:46:13 PM Cheers for the PM Matt, some interesting information in there. Do you ever play anywhere in Newark? I know there is a few pub based games but not really sure if there worth bothering with.
You Reds! Title: Re: Dusk Till Dawn Post by: Matt.NFFC. on December 24, 2010, 12:25:26 PM Cheers for the PM Matt, some interesting information in there. Do you ever play anywhere in Newark? No mate, I work shifts and have 2 kids as well, and to be fair, after playing at DTD with all the dealer dealt games, everything else is 2nd best to be honest. I'd rather save my cash and go to Notts. If you play online, you can find me losing on Full Tilt....username OMGmiffyallen Title: Re: Dusk Till Dawn Post by: cambridgealex on December 24, 2010, 04:59:02 PM yup DTD is the nuts, not been to anywhere outside of London that remotely competes. And even in London its only the Vic that is on the same level. try and relax, be friendly, dont worry about asking questions, the people you'll be playing against will all be relatively new to it anyway and are a friendly bunch. Don't get flustered by it all because it can be quite daunting. Good luck.

Title: Re: Dusk Till Dawn Post by: titaniumbean on December 24, 2010, 10:26:44 PM How ruddy dare you compare it to DTD that's so ridic.
in terms of volume they are similar to dtd, the place is horrible, the staff are mixed (some are good don't get me wrong but there isn't the level of quality that DTD have). the tournies structures/guarantees/changes to the schedule are all pathetic, your worth via table game rake paid denotes your status level and how you are treated, they sure open new games when there is a 20 man wait list...... oh god i'm so tilted that you compared the two that's so sickening. asdl;faslkdfasdkfjkasd Title: Re: Dusk Till Dawn Post by: shaun69uk on December 25, 2010, 07:13:34 PM And don't forget never ever open fold ace king.
