Where/what/why do you work? If you didn't have a family do you think you would be more aggresive with your money/try and take poker alot more seriously?

OK so this diary is 3 fold:

1) To have something to look back on when I reach Tikay's age

2) To keep in mind goals for the year- poker and non poker related (I haven't finalised these yet but will be putting them up)

3) To put up tourney reports- I'm usually good at these- WSOP ME event aside.

It's fair to say 2010 has not been my greatest year- I've lost a lot of poker roll taking too many big shots trying to "make it". The whole Blatch saga ruined what was supposed to be a trip of a lifetime to Vegas and my eldest two became teenagers. Sigh!

I currently work for a call centre out sourcer. We provide call centre solutions for firms mainly in the public sector. Currently we run the telephony channel for Next Step- a careers advice service for over 19's.

I am in middle management and tbh don't enjoy it as much as I used to. Poker has always been my way out but it's tough because of the family. Shelley doesn't work which I'm really pleased about. Poker has always supplemented by income.

I have always taken my poker seriously- I am so keen to learn. My biggest problem is levelling myself and trying to win every pot. I'm under no illlusion- I'm not as good as some but much better than others. When people call be terrible it doesn't bother me. Some of the best are potless cos they don't understand the value of money and I spose it's tough to understand that when your 18 and winning the world. (end Tikay stlyle rant)

Live pokers- get a read on each player and play accordingly. Live players will tend to play face up. Don't pay off too many river bets- they always have it

None of the above obv wanted to win tho.

If I wasnt going to win it there was only one man that I would want to take the title- but I run so bad that you beat darren heads up.

Oh and cant make it Sat so you will have to miscount someone elses stack xx

OK so basically I all but bust my poker roll. Its important for me to keep things seperate- a lot of my wins are swallowed by day to day expenses but Id managed to put some money aside for my poker roll.

I think Ive learnt a really important lesson about bankroll management and I think you can only really truly learn this lesson going through what Ive gone through recently. The occasional shot is fine but variance mixed with some pretty shit play during the back end of 2010 has been my downfall.

It was just too easy to dip into my roll and stick a shed load online and play Sundays when I wasnt really in the mood for playing or playing particularly well. Id always prided myself on keeping up with the game, reading, learning keeping one step ahead but I had got lazy.

ATM I am grinding the 26 manners online for none other than Costas. Hes really helped me out and is ridic understanding about backing me. I got off to a flyer but things have slowed down a little lately. I was putting in a ton of volume early but just lately have been playing live more.

Ive always been the type of person who will play online for 6 months and berate/hate live poker and not bother with it and then vice versa. Its obv not always easy to put in the time with a family but Im going to try and grind more online- its the only way to make money at this game unless you have perma run good- put the time in and grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrind

Not sure how many anecdotal (sp?) stories Im going to put up here. My life is pretty straightforward. I go work. I come home. I spend time with the family. I play poker. I dont seem to get my hand stuck in Maccie D windows or have people spoling for a fight with me (sorry Tighty)

My goals for 2010:

1) Keep family number 1

2)Rebuild my roll

3) Win another live tourney and get some flags (APAT/UKIPT)

4) Qualify for the main event if number 2 goes well.

Sigh he's still bitter about the grim and I thought we had put all that behind us

I have a Prop for you  - to keep us both in line and to the grind. I too am a shot taker (i think driven by the fact I have always been able to reload, and I cant play an $11 MTT to final table bubble for $95).

Anyway - I am trying to grind, have built several small rolls only to have a big sunday and do it all in!

So I propose a year long prop in 3 stages:

Stage 1 - turn $100 into $1,000 by grinding (having 20 BI minimum for stake being played at all times). SNGs or cash only

Stage 2 - turn $500 into $5,000 (having 20 BI minimum for stake being played at all times). SNGs or cash only

Stage 3 - turn $1000 into $10,000 (having 20 BI minimum for stake being played at all times). SNGs or cash only

The only caveat is you must do it on 3 separate sites, ie once you complete stage 1 - you change site for stage 2. Rake back counts.

Not bothered in having a monetary exchange (but will if you wish) - just a straight race

Personally George I think you're great. A short story now and if ever there was an example of the old adage "A dog is for life and not for Xmas" then this is one.

Two years ago my daughter wanted a hamster. She was 11 at the time. Shelley wasn't really keen because she doesn't really like rodents and also didn't want to be the one who'd ultimately have to look after it if suddenly the pet lost it's appeal but we relented. Esme is quite responsible but we made it quite clear that it was her pet- she would need to clean it out/feed him/play with him etc. She called him Ozzy and for the first couple of weeks everything was great. She was taking really good care of him.

A month into it, it was clear she was already bored of him. Not cleaning him out, handling him. We were nagging her to clean him, handle him- take care of him. Should we as parents step in? IDK- all I know is the poor hamster was not getting the care he deserved. It's shitty when you think about it sometimes- we, as humans, keep pets but when we're bored of them there's sweet f all the poor pet can do about it.

Two days ago I asked Esme when was the last time she cleaned Ozzy out. She couldn't even remember when or when she'd handled him. Me and Shelley went out last night- I said that while we're out she needs to make sure she cleans him out and handles him.

Fast forward to this morning- has she cleaned him out? Of course not. I request she does this again. She takes the cage downstairs to clean in. 5 mins later Kieran (Esme and Kieran are twins) pops up.

"Dad, Esme has a problem"

"What?"

"She thinks Ozzy might be dead"

The stench as I enter the lounge confirms our suspicions. Esme is upset and in tears but tbh I have little sympathy. Ozzy could have died anyway- think hamster don't live that long anyway but I suspect he's met his maker due to neglect which saddens me. Can't help feeling guilty myself for not taking care of the poor sod myself.

Protocol on how to get rid of said body? We're not really sure.

George hamsters rarely live past two years and mostly pop off their mortal coil around 18 months, which is why they can be a crap pet for kids :) Very unlikely it died of neglect so don't feel bad.

Unfortunately as Dad you have to go through the whole rigmarole of burying it in the garden as she's too young to cope with the reality ofchucking the  hamster into teh wheely bin.

Can I suggest a bunny next time? Once he's tame he can live free in the garden so if your daughter forgets to feed him it's not a major panic, and they tend to live a bit longer.

Actually the George/Shelley story is quite a interesting/long one. How we met? Not that interesting actually. We drank at the same pub (yes I used to go to the pub before poker). Pre poker I was actually quite slim- played footie 4 times a week and went out every weekend playing pool etc. The circumstances in which we got together were actually quite contraversial.

For those of you who don't know- and Shelley will hate me for highlighting it, but Shelley is 6 years older than me. When I first met her she was actually in a long term relationship and had two children, (Esme and Kieran) and I don't mind admitting I had a crush on her. I actually remember when she said she'd split up from her partner, my heart went booooooooooom altho I didn't really think I had a chance. The kids complicated this two fold- number 1 I was only 20 and I don't mind admitting kids weren't exactly on the agenda and 2, I am from a fairly strict Asian family. The fact that I was interested in an older white woman would probably see me getting a hiding to nothing- let alone one with kids!

Anyway one night, after a few drinks we were walking to the curry house after a standard night out on the drink and we kissed. Things were very complicated for a while, you know women. We eventually get together and I start spending every single waking moment with her- you know how things are when you first meet. I'm 20 and in love! OMG best thing ever. Love you love you puke puke puke.

My mum obv catches on- I tell her about Shelley but not the kids. I meet them about 2 months after being with Shelley and things are going well. My Dad gives me a pep talk- you can see this woman for now but nothing perm. Yup yup dad agree. Next thing I'm pushing the kids in a trolley around Asda and get spotted by one of my mum's best friends. An hour later my dad is on the phone....

"Rupinder....." (just to point out- my parents actually call me George- so when my first name is used I know he means business) "Come home now we need to talk to you!"

I start the walk home from Shelley's..... dread in my stomach best way of describing it although tbh I don't even think that does it justice.....

Finally a post worth reading amongst the badbeatfestblubbaments.

So anyway I get home and my mum and Dad are sitting there waiting for me. My Dad is to the point.

"Has this woman you've been seeing got kids?"

"Yes Dad"

"How old are they?"

"They're twins, both 4."

"I told you you could see her if it didn't get serious"

I hesitate and lie a little- I just wanted to carry on seeing Shelley without the hassle

"It's not serious. We're just seeing each other"

"Rupinder..... it's complicated with kids. You will learn to love them"

My mum chimed in a few times and looking back I understand they were trying to do what was best for me. Even Shelley said- removing the cultural differences- that she understood where they were coming from. But I wasn't to be convinced. The long end and short of it was that, if I didn't stop seeing Shelley, my Dad would disown me. Wouldn't speak to me. Again although I didn't agree with his course of action, I understand why he did it. He was trying to look out for me.

But as is the case when these choices are made, I chose my heart (puke) and ended up moving out. If anything, the course of action my parents took drove me closer to Shelley and further away from my family. It's the most regretful time of my life for many reasons- I didn't see my mum, dad or brother for months- which was down to me too.

OK so I'm living with the woman I love plus two kids I adore. I recently started working- life is good PLUS I have just been watching this mad thing called late night poker on tv. Looks pretty cool huh? And pretty simples.

I was doomed from the start. I see poker on tv. I for some reason remember seeing pacific poker somewhere so download the client. I deposit 200$ and click on the lobby. No idea where Im going. Dunno why lobby's default to limit cash. Spose its a rake winner. So I sit playing limit cash- oblivious of tournaments and am doing ok.

A few days later I get an email from pacific- there's a 44$ tournament with 25k guarantee. Wow awesome. I play it. I obv win it. 9900$. Ker ching! Easy game. I would LOVE to watch that tourney back. See what I mean? Doomed.

So things are going well. I'm a poker supastar, I enjoy my job. I'm in love and have two fantastic kids to boot. Life was pretty good.

I hadn't seen my rents for a while- or my brother. I regret this the most. One of the biggest regrets of my life. Me and my brother were pretty tight as kids but we'd grown apart. My fault. No one else's. Didn't matter what was happening between me and my parents- I should have made an effort to see him. My parents hadn't spoken to me in around 8 months. I hid it quite well and tried not to let it bother me.

So one day we're at home, in bed, watching tv. I remember it vividly. It was a Friday, I had work the next day. Shelley turns to me:

"George"

*Distracted watching tv* as you are when you're a bloke "mmmmmmmmm?"

"I think I might be pregnant"

"Hmmmmmm... what?"

"I think I'm pregnant"

I hear it this time..... in slow mo.

I think I mumbled something. Next minute I'm in the car driving to the 24 hour Asda buying about 5 pregnancy kits. This was huge. I mean I was committed to Shelley- we were happy. And I know things were complicated by Esme and Kieran. But really, and I know women and Shelley won't forgive me for saying this, that door was always a tiny bit open. To walkaway if I wanted. Not that I wanted to. It just was. In case I wanted to go back to being 21 and single and do things most 21 year olds do.

So I drive home.... Shelley takes the test and......

OK so Shelley takes the test- pregnant! Yay! Or not.... it was tough to comprehend. I remember the next day- it was life was running in slow mo. I will never forget that day.

We spoke at length, about what we were gonna do. I'd be lying if I took to the idea straightaway. I was 21, scared and panicking. I didn't know who to talk to and what to say.

About two weeks after finding out the news, I get a phonecall out the blue from my mum.

"George.... it's mum"

"errrr hi Mum, how are you?"

"Dad wants to see you this weekend? Can you come?"

"Yes of course"

And that was it. I visited home. For the first time in ages. Shelley was really supportive. i was scared.

It was one of the most pure moments of my life. No other way to describe it. My dad hugged me, my brother embraced me. We all cried. It was nuts. My Dad had welcomed me back. It was awesome. However my Dad turned to me and said:

"Look, let's see how things go. Things might not work out with Shelley. One day you might come home but we won't talk about it." I knew at the back of my mind that Shelley was pregnant but I couldn't bring myself to say anything.

As I left my brother hugged me really tight. "I missed you George. Really missed you". I don't think I've cried so much in my life.

So good. Much better than bad beats. WP.

georgy porgy, what's the reasoning behind indian families not liking interracial relationships? from my experience they seem to be against them much more than anyone else though that could of course just be down to sample size

I'm sure there are a lot of white families who'd throw a wobbly if their son/daughter brought home a black or Asian partner home - don't you agree?

I think it's for very different reasons though.

With asian / indian / muslim families I think it's a deep religious feeling that makes this the case.

With white families it's just because they don't like brown people.

I agree that might be the case in some situations - but intolerance of people due to skin colour is often just down to intolerance of people of different skin colour.  The religious element just tends to add more irrational intolerance.

with white families objecting I've always felt it's a more racist thing i.e they'd object to their son/daughter just mixing with non-whites

indian families, and again this is only in my experience so could be sample size, seem to be against the relationship, not the person. as matt says maybe the religious thing

so you've got something that doesn't appear to be race hate in any way yet manifests itself in a much more extreme way as families tend to disown children

Took me a long time after coming to the UK to realise that when British people say "Asian" they ussually mean; Indian, Pakistani etc.

In America, Asian = Oriental, they use the generic term Indian for anyone from the sub-continent.

TBh I think it's more cultural than religious. Religion comes into it but it's more about what other families might think. Bringing shame to the family etc- spose I did this with some style.

Very similar for the Gypsy community George. So difficult for "Outsiders" to be accepted.

Re mixed relationships, my parents welcomed George with open arms, he has a special place in their hearts (you all know him, how could they not?!) Besides I'm their baby & they can see we are very much in love, that's enough for them.  very importantly Esme & Kieran adored him too. However I fully understood Georges mum un dads reservations, I think we would have them too if any of ours came home with this tale to tell,though maybe not for the same reasons. A partner with a ready made family ..... Not ideal!!

It always surprises me the reaction some families have, one of my best friends has been seeing a girl for a good 2-3 years but she still cant be mentioned in front of his parents because he'd be disowned because she's not Gujarati. It's incredible how strongly they feel and how instant and severe their reaction would be. Very hard for white people to understand.

My then 26yr old daughter seperated from her husband (and father of her three children) 2 years ago and since then has become attached to a lad who was 18 at the time. He loves the three children and has been far more involved with them than their biiological father ever was.
The children's acceptance of this new father-figure was crucial in The Boy (as daughter calls him) being accepted by us all.

The only downside was that he reckoned he was a Gooner... we've knocked that out of him now though and his main proclaimed loyalties are to his hometown team, Wolves.

So I visit my parents a couple of days later- my dad is out. My mum is beaming. My brother happy but Im on edge knowing that my news could tip the balance again. My mum isnt stupid she senses something. A tear trickles down my face. This should be happy time. Im about to tell my mum shes going to be a grandmother.

The words trickle out- quietly "Shelleys pregnant" My mum hears it. My brother hears it. They both understand what this probably means. I get up to leave. My brother is upset- he says he wont let this happen again. I walk back to Shelleys. I get the call Ive been expecting. My Dad doesnt want to see me. He has no son as far as he is concerned. Im numb. The family Id just got back had gone once again.

Ive actually had the pleasure of meeting G2L senior, guys a legend and alot better than george at poker. 1/1 final tabling Venetian tournaments.

Me and shell both played grand prix yesterday. We both had golden chips and arrived there pretty excited to play. Shell bust at 600/1200 when she jammed 16k with AK from the sb and got looked up by 33 (personally against Shell's range I think this is a shit call but w/e). She played really well and was proper gutted when she bust.

I was pretty devved too. been playing tourneys for a long time and understand how shit they are. I hope my table mates won't mind me saying but I was in complete control of the table until it came to showdown. Lost 0/5 races and got coolered twice (AJ vs AQ Bob, AKdd vs AA). Had 80k at 1k/2k then went out in the space of a few hands. Jammed KJ BoB into Rudders big who found Jacks which cost me 30k (maybe raise/fold live but don't think it's a huge error) then jam 66 into AK for 27k to lose race number 5 and be on my way.

May play the super 50 on Sunday as really enjoyed playing yesterday and did so with quite a bit of confidence for the first time in a while. Just need to win when the cards are on their backs which seems to be the tough part!

ravvy put me onto this thread last night george. refreshing change from poker poker poker and an excellent read. you are one of the few genuine nice guys who no one has a bad word for. you  collect them 25 chips better than anyone i know as well.

I do come to these events well prepared to wait for George though, a chick lit book (too embarrassed to sit reading my current strategy book!!) But I'm quite happy just to watch George do his thang, I know I'm biaised but I think he is amazing to watch, fascinates me. There was a tough patch where I appeared to be a BOK so i wasn't allowed within a mile of his table ..... Unfortunately I have to concede there did appear to be grounds for this claim but totally unintentionally!!!!

I may not be religious but I believe in God. A higher purpose. People can knock me or people who believe in God- each to their own. I also believe that God intervened in the next installment of my life. It was the most pleasant intervention but it brought my family together when probably nothing else would have.

My brother- who had worked hardest to bring the family together was involved in quite a serious accident which saw him hospitalised. I don't know what it is about humans that make them take life for granted- we're maybe built to always want more and never settle for less. But the accident made my parents and esp. my Dad realise that life is often shorter than you think. We reconciled before Rio was born and I could not have been happier. My brother eventually recovered and now things couldn't be better. My parents love Shelley and they often help out with the kids which is a Godsend. When me and Shelley travel away the whole family chips in but it's often Granny and Grandad who do the bulk of the babysitting. Alls well that ends well.

Think key to keep yourself motivated is not to get too carried away with yourself. I still consider myself an average player- Im sure many will agree!

Rio's birth.

So we start at wicksteed park. Me, Shelley and the twins (we never call them that) go there to celebrate my birthday on the 5th August. Shelley is heavily pregnant and we have a great time. Esme and Kieran couldn't be more different when it comes to rides. She is a daredevil who would probs go on anything whereas he closes his eyes on the merry go round.

Anyway, 3 days later I'm buzzing. Its the first game of pre season. Before being a fat over eating poker playing bastard I used to play footie for two teams on Saturday's and Sunday's on the left wing. I was like Ryan Giggs with no first touch and tackling skill of Paul Scholes. I'm fast asleep- look over at the clock. It's 8.30am iirc and I smile just thinking about playing. It's only then that I notice Shelley walk in

"Errrr the labour?"

"Must have been that walk- let's go to the hospital"

Great Diary George, it is really surreal to know a bit about the person behind the whole poker mask .

I have a friend of mine who is white, but she is in a relationship with an asian (pakistan) guy, he is really nice, however his family do not know anything about her, and would never accept her into there family way of life, she even wants to convert to there religion etc, so she is pretty serious about it.

He recently had to go over to pakistan to have an arranged marriage, which she later found out about, and obv went mental.

I don't really have a right to say too much, however my opinion is that it just seems so heartbreaking, when you find a girl/boy you really love, and because of the family history/culture/religion, the two ppl cannot be together, I'm pleased your relationship worked out good, and is still going strong.

Like many others above, keep writing the diary, it is a very honest account of your life and I'm sure you will bink big in the future :-)

Pretty sick day. Not had a stack in 300 for a while and didnt hold onto it for long. It really is ridic how bad people play yet they win every flip.

Anyway enough of poker cos it's just shite atm. I really think I need to start eating healthier and exercising- my body is giving up atm and I need to pay attention to it! Keep feeling really bloated and ill. Can't sleep because of it.

Pokerwise I am grinding my arse off atm but to no avail. Its tough when u constantly keep hitting a brick wall. I am seriously beginning to doubt my "abilty" and whether pursuing poker is right for me. I know people will probably mock and say "rara George is tez" etc etc. But I believe any game/sport etc is really down to confidence and at the moment I havent got one iota of confidence.

Stick to the smaller stuff mate, play stuff you know 100% you can beat. I thought I was billy big bollocks a few years ago when I was a decentish player compared to others before the game started to get tough 3-4 years ago or so. The game has overtaken me now me and I know I'm an average player at best, but it does not bother me in the least as there are always games that can be beaten.

I just play the $5 and $10 rb's and the $10-$20 freezeouts, I grind out a small profit, degen a bit a way taking shots at cash games now and again but meh. If I can pay for the odd holiday from paying poker for fun I'm happy.

Pretty sick day today. I went back to Manchester UKIPT with a bowl so would have snap taken final 2 tables at start of the day but obv having got so far it's frustrating to not make the final. Drive home was eventful. Had some dick in a mini white van tailing me down the A50. Everytime I  switched lanes he would stay rooted to my bumper so I switched to left lane and snap slowed down to about 25. He overtook me and fucked off. Prick.

Then had petrol light on ZERO- didnt realise this until I'd just passed some services so as I began my final leg down the M1 had a petrol sweat of 18 miles at 70mph. WP me. Would have been fun when my engine cut out on the M1 doing 70 with no phone battery had I survived..... I really am a dousche sometimes.

So the report. I shall start from the very beginning. Finished work Thurs looking forward to playing. Me and Shelley had arranged childcare so she could come with to rail. It really is fun and Shell drives which I really appreciate. I really do hate driving further than an hour's journey- don't ask me why. Just weird like that. We talk the whole way- usually about the kids. Amazing how little time we find at home sometimes to just talk with the day to day!

So glad Shelley enjoys being a Poker WAG. She sits in the bar for ages- reading books and playing DS games. I'll chat to her every break about progress. Usually obv whinging in frustration about pots. She calms me down. Rinse repeat about 6 times if I'm fortunate to still be in.

We get there about 11.30ish. I recognise no one at my table apart from some fish two to my left by the name of Andy Hulme aka stato 1 aka Countdown whizz. He's not in his seat tho and Simon Deadman aka golden bollox informs me mitch and andy went to the darts so they may be late. We're 4 handed and I open k9cc second hand and win a nice pot when I flop and flush and river a straight flush. I then win another pot with 55 on an a2335 board. Im up to 18k from 15k.... might just be my day................

J on the turn which now puts two spades on board. Gavin announces 3850. I eye him suspiciously. I do a call but to be honest my bum's twitching a little. I haven't been running the greatest of late and whereas I should put this down to a rather unfortunate cooler if he has me, I am worried about him actually somehow having me beat. I push the thought to the back of my mind and call again.

For my backers I am going to finish this.

I found myself in a few pots but kept losing. This seems to happen to me in the mid stages of tournaments. I don't know if I get too impatient/ if poeple are making plays or simply I'm not hitting flops but a combo of them all resulted me being down from a high of 25k to 12k. I need to look at this part of my game because it is happening too often for it to be a coincidence.

Guy to my right opens to 1400 at 300/600. I jam 10s on button. BB (female) calls all in for 8k. FML. Hope it's a flip!

It's not a flip. She has 8s. Weeeeeeeee. Door card is a 10c. Boom. Flop is peeled back to reveal two more clubs and one of her 8s is parsley. Great. I fade tho and start to rebuild back up to 30. Now comes a hand where the inevitable spazz out/ridic move that was never ever going to work comes and I get there. Basically I 5 bet jammed all in with QJ off last hand before the break. I blame Gus Hansen. Luckily I was up against AK and binked a Queen.

Dont play many hands till the day ends although again the few that I open result in me cbet/folding. I manage to end the day on 58k after Gavin jams 10s into my jacks and I flop a jack. He turns a 10 for the rubdown. Day 2- woohoo!

Last few days have been rough.

I've had the week off work with flu. Hitting 30 has hit my immune system hard. I rarely get ill but have had flu 2 times in the last 6 months. Probably not had it as many times before that for 10 years.

So all I've been doing is grinding online in between sleeps. Hasn't been much fun. I update about losing less because people just think "George is just moaning again blah blah blah" and they're abso right.

As with UKIPT's- online I have so many last 2/3 table finishes of late. It's quite frustrating. Partly down to losing flips/running bad deep but also I think I've been a little impatient deep. Trying to find a spot when there's really not one there.

Got a result tonight which is a massive relief! Binked the turbo fiddy (well chopped it HU/flued up sleeping patterns ftw) for 8.5k which is my biggest online result in yonks. Have to get a whinge in. Was 4/1 chip leader HU and got it in KJ vs K5 for the 10.6k win but more than happy with the chop!!! Pity I'm not well enough to celebrate!

I compromised. Esme had her nose pierced for Xmas. I was still reluctant for her to do that but must admit it looks good.

She did have to go through hell at school for it as they have a no piercing rule (apart from one in each ear) which I feel is a little Draconian. She's not allowed to wear the piercing at school (now) whislt it was bedding it (or w/e the term is) she had to stay in class during break and lunch for around 6 weeks. She's single minded like her mother tho. Once she wants something doesn't matter what barriers are in the way she'll get it.

Ship Ship. Good day.

Woke up and went to a car booty where we bought more junk for the kids. Good idea Shell. Then came home to chill in the garden and played some afternoon turbo's on stars. Came 2nd in a 82$ hyper turbo and won a 27$ KO. Not huge binks but got me out of the disappointment of yesterday and some tidy profit.

Then went Gudwara with the kids. I did say I'd explain this. I am not a really religious person in terms of lifestyle but do believe in God and Sikhism so have been taking the boys everyday. You go in, take your shoes off (Eames would love it) and cover your head as a mark of respect. You then make a very small donation and bow your head to the Guru Granth Sahib which Sikhs treat and believe is a real person (Holy Scripture). We then sit and listen to Kirten (Religious songs/hymns) and finally have Langar (meal from the Gudwara). It's helped me find some peace with my whinging self.

We then went park- my brother and mum turned up and my competitive streak came out as me and Inder started playing a little one on one football. Well done George. Good one. He works out everyday and is really fit while I play poker and eat kebabs. I am almost dead from all the running around.

Played Stoke 150 today. Std is so bad. Then these bad players who limp every hand and wanna fold Jacks to a 10 big blind shove complain about the structure. "Give us  longer clock" "Get rid of antes- it's not poker" So you can fold some more?

We're recruiting at work for the first time in 3 years and for the first time via telephone interviews. Never done this. In the past it's always been face to face.

We work in a contact centre so I think it's a good idea but can you really get a good impression of someone without interviewing them face to face?

Telephone interviews are common as first round interviews. It's generally cheaper to conduct telephone interviews than in person, and you can reduce the amount of candidates quickly this way. Is the telephone interview the only round, or is it followed by a face to face interview?

Bad if it's the only round imo. I think telephone first then face to face would be absolutely ideal for a call centre. It allows you to weed out the people who can't communicate effectively over the phone first, and then you can focus on the other competencies in the later face to face round.

Depends, what is your rate of attrition (people leaving)? heard of some with over 60% although they were probably outsourcers.

Contact centre's typically have very high turnover of staff and spending countless hours on the recruitment process won't increase the overall calibre of applicant a great deal (assuming this is for front line customer advisors?)

If that's how you feel, you need a Yes to AV!

The trade unions don't support AV because it will weaken the two party Tory/Labour system. Since Labour is essentially funded by the unions, a yes to AV will loosen their grip on power.

It amuses me the negative reaction a lot of people give to Unions these days when they are at their weakest / least influential for generations. I see a good Union as backup for employers who take the piss and try to give workers a raw deal. We already have the most flexible workforce in Europe (look at all the laws we passed under New Labour) it gave flexible, cheap workforce a new meaning and meant people could be hired and fired without hassle. Nothing the Unions could do, at best they protect us from shisters as worst they get giddy and push for out dated strikes. I wouldn't base my vote on how Unions operate, their influence on the Labour party is virtually nill, Ed does not need to pander to their needs or give them what they want.

Hey George sat to the dealers right is my mate who come to Vegas with me. First ever live event he draws the tv table. 2009 day 1a. Doyles room gave him 10k just to wear a hat n patch. He folded kings pre flop..... Took a third of Alan cunninghams stack and got about 3 seconds of tv time at the begining of the show when the tv camera zoomed down and panned round the rOom. The whole hour programe was just about lex and all the hands he bluffed. In the beginning of April I played in the chilli open in Spain and a Dutch guy won it and him and his mate high claimed to know lex and more importantly the rich guy that backs him. They were saying that the guy was getting sick of lex spunking his money away was thinking of ending the relationship coz lex would have to win an ept just to pay the make up back. Such a small world. That video pisses me off coz it reminds me that pokerstars paid for my wedding the next day
