blonde poker forum

So many diarys atm and they all seem really interesting. Why not put a section of forum where they are all kept together, be alot easier that way IMO.

It has been debated many times, & for now, we decided they will stay where they are.

90% of them will disappear by Easter, so it's just a short-term thing.

Nobody replied to my fun story.  Maybe it wasnt fun.  Maybe people arent interested.  Maybe I should stop updating non Cos related matters.

Have to agree here with Pleno, and also Claw has suggested it many times.

I PM'd Tighty about this today as well and although some of the diaries 'may' disappear a main board for them makes it quicker to access all the diaries and read them, or ignore completely if diary reading isn't your thing.

Why would you not be able to ignore a diary otherwise?

Other peoples ability to misread my mind & tell me what I am thinking is extraordinary.

We wouldn't relegate the diaries to a child board. the options are seperate Main board under the Rail, or leave as is

To be more specific, the diary threads bump down the other 'Rail, Poker' threads, and when you are on a time limit and quickly want to scan the first page (or rather the top half) to see whats new/important/beneficial to the days poker info 'only' fix, then the diaries get in the way a that moment in time.

stick diaries in the lounge so that when new members come to blonde looking for poker related stuff on the poker related part of the forum they're not just confronted by a page full of diaries from people they don't know or care about. it doesn't help with the cliquey reputation

By my counting there's about 15 diaries on the rail at the moment including a few obvious joke ones.

If we move them the last thread on page 1 of the rail would date back to Dec 22.

Diaries are hardly forcing out breaking news.

I've had people post on my diary that i have never interacted with on blonde... Hardly clicky imo.

The over-under of pages on this Thread (it re-surfaces annually, so we can consult previous form) is 7-9 pages.

So, if we are going to have 8 or 9 pages of it, can we at least spell "clique" properly, please? Add "clicky" to "loosing  player" & Titanium Bean will explode with tiltness, poor boy.

I'm talking about people who never get as far as signing up to the site because they open what they think is a poker forum, go to the poker section and just see a load of diaries.

I don't. forum sign ups are through the roof in the last six months...seo rankings up etc..and are now 5 times per month what they were 18 months ago

I only ever use http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?action=unread - I never look in individual boards. Means I can scan what's new without having to go searching for it.

at the moment near the top of the rail we have sov, poker content=zero; tom, poker content=minimal, this thread, poker content=zero, your thread, poker content=minimal, a thread about thewy having babies, poker content=zero etc. may as well put everything back in one place like the old days

Yes I understand where you are coming from but I (currently) view it as a temporary aberration (the few long running diaries aside)

More people, as well as me who tries to put a lot of poker stuff up and obviously puts sponsor stuff up, could always put more poker threads up...would solve the "problem" another way....

if you wanted to find info on, I don't know, classic cars and you went to a classic car forum and opened up the board for discussions about classic cars and most of the threads were people's diaries telling you about what they'd had for lunch and what their kids were up to would you stick around or would you find somewhere with what you wanted? much more likely to stick around if everything was where it was supposed to be and then after a little while you'd find the board with the diaries of all the nice people who'd helped you find a wing mirror and then you'd get involved with the community

I constantly miss blonde tornaments organised by tighty because they disappear in the mess called diaries!!!  I agree with Gatso by the way...

I always use unread topics too. If you check-in once a day, you get a page or just over of updated threads, pretty easy just to skim through and pick out the ones you follow or find of interest.

Tighty doesn't post the details of tournaments in people's diaries though.

Maybe you should start a diary and he could post them in yours, that way you won't miss the tournaments anymore.

I 2nd any motion to have all the diaries in a seperate section of the forum.

it sounds like those wishing to have the diaries moved to a seperate forum are wasting their time as the decision has already been made to leave them where they are.

I am just trying to counter some of the reasons given for moving, which I think might be incorrect.

Not being able to see League threads is one such. When I have a league active it will always be in the top ten threads on the rail, you can be assured of that.It's a skill I have lol

If feels like for each person who gives a reason to move it, there is not really a good reason to not move it, more like an answer that its gonna stay that way.  A lot of people think it would be good and tidy to move them.  I am not sure why you need to counter the offered reasons for moving if your mind is open.  It just seems sensible to me based on how many there are now.

As far as 'doing it for the people' is concerned I would like to make it clear that I want them to stay where they are.

nah, pretty sure the majority couldn't care less. I've only given my opinion because I think there's a better way of doing it, not because I actually care. the way I view the forum it's irrelevant what board something is in and while I still stand my my views of how newcomers view stuff I'm not bothered by that either, I really don't like new people

I don't really get why people care ? I didn't care before I did one myself and am not bothered now that I do.I really don't see how it puts anyone off as anybody coming for poker info would go to online poker or live poker boards first and as Matt said it's not like anything present is being shoved off the first page.

the thing is Mond, as Gatso alluded to earlier, 'the Rail' and 'the Lounge' were created a while back in place of the main 'General Discussion' board.  The reasoning behind that was that poker related stuff was getting lost among non-poker related stuff. 

Everyone who has suggested a separate diary board has their own reasons for it.  the only reason I'd be in favour is that I like to keep up with up the diaries, and skip a lot of other stuff.  I'd just find it much easier to go to a diary board and catch up with them all easily rather than looking for them in the 'recent unread topics' list.  Not going to lose any sleep either way, just seemed like a sensible suggestion for discussion.

I just wanted to try and start a new phrase tbh,I really don't see how it's much of an issue but probably that's due to the fact I just click to read unread posts and I read everything as I have a lot of time on my hands.It's been discussed a good few times before also so clearly is something that the mods are aware of.I also don't see any poker issues that are getting lost.

who is whinging please. pretty sure you and tikay are reading a different thread from me. I'm reading one where a couple of people have mentioned something that they feel may improve the forum, they may be right or they may be wrong but all they've done is put forward a positive suggestion which has then been discussed. I have no idea what thread the mondakendall is reading

You should read PHA more, you'd do it all the time.

Maybe we define whinging differently ? If someone moans that something isn't done I class that as whinging.

If there is not gonna be a forum made for diaries, maybe we can have a forum made for poker?

Wasn't going to post because it really doesn't bother me one way or the other - but there's possibly one idea that might keep the lot happy.  May have been suggested already and if so I'll give my +1 to it...

Don't bother with a separate child board for them.  Just chuck the lot into the lounge.  Obv leave Tom's and Tony's where they are in the rail as they've been there forever and that's where the occasional visitor expects to find them. 

Maybe not ideal, but keeps the 'poker' people happy and the diary readers will find them easy enough if they really want to read them.

I actually disagree (Ooooo my first Blonde disagreement lol)...as a new blondie I really enjoyed coming here and finding out about all the people that post...i'm a people person, that's why I like the forum....had it been in a different area I probably wouldn't have bothered...but you know how it works...read one, read em all....make a point of reading the ones you like....catch up on the ones you browse when you have time and post when appropriate...!!

At no point have I felt like this is a clique that I can't be a part of...there are many places on this site that are poker related.....the rail is somewhere that is people! AND poker related and thats what makes it xtra special....behind our computers we are, all and everyone, slightly ocd humans...yup, proper real breathing people with real lives and families and tilt and everything..... ;technophobe;

If you're lucky I might even clog the place up with a diary of a serial stopper smoker...oh the joys I hear you cry ;o)

I would look in internet poker or live poker of the clinic first...In every match i've ever played or railed the rail is just that..people can chat and ramble and generally introduce themselves...THAT's why I spend most of my Blonde time in this section
