Title: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: turny on January 10, 2011, 11:45:14 AM greyhound threads on blonde used to be a good crack and also very informative but since the banishment of the likes of rookie, mcbag and bolt interest died a wee bit.
i know there are a few blondes out there who still enjoy the fantastic sport of greyhounds and here's hoping we can resurrect the topic here. Sky's excellent coverage begins tomorrow evening with the final of the betfair prestige stakes, i will post my selections/bets for the evening somewhere between now and then. be great if as well as people posting their fancies we get some greyhound talk going past and present. here's hoping turny Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: turny on January 10, 2011, 11:46:37 AM below is a list of sky coverage for the first 7 months of the year

Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: vegaslover on January 11, 2011, 07:26:19 AM I'll certainly be interested in following it, but know pretty much feck all about it. Just never took to picking up on form etc on the dogs like I did with the horses.
Have only been to Hove on social nights out, though usually end up with a small profit. Don't go regulalrly at all nowadays, but noticed the last time I went that are still plenty of the 'droopy's ' dogs about down there Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: Horneris on January 11, 2011, 08:30:15 AM My Dad used to have a greyhound which ran called Pebble Dasher. It was mev, all black and used to win its fair share of races and my 16 year old self would get involved with a £20 win single.
It still lives with my parents now, although its been renamed Dill, not sure wtf that is about. tonights selections 7.40pm the night begins with a puppy event.mark wallis has a bitch in this so has to be respected but i favour the 6 dog here saxon warrior. progressed nicely through the grades at monmore and looks perfectly drawn here with 5 having a habit of tracking to the rails on the run up. a repeat of an excellent trial would be enough selection:trap 6 saxon warrior 9/4 nb 8.00pm stayers event over 645 made up mainly of dogs that failed to reach the prestige final at 9.40pm. looks a 2 dog race to me between 2 barnfield rocky and bower surfer. rocky ran well last week but suprisingly failing to last home and narrowly failing to qualify for the final. surfer on the other hand ran a poor race behind te favourite for the final my opinion is he may have just needed the run. in the past surfer has normally got the better of rocky, he is a faster animal when things go right and tonight i think they will. selection:trap 3 bower surfer 5/2 8.15pm a hurdles event over 480 metres sees a lot of the usual suspects in opposiltion. first thing i noticed was how far big strong pup is from the rail, which instantly had me trying to make a case for the 6 dog (which i cant). not a race to get hugely involved in but il side with the class dog in the race sizzlers spirit hoping he avoids pup early. selection:trap 4 sizzlers spirit 7/4 8.35pm the sprint race over 258 metres sees alot of the big names missing, no juimmy lollie, rotar wing, king lee or slick citi to contend with it gives a chance for up and coming speedsters to stake a claim.jolly poacher has been around a while successfully reverting from 4 bends back to 2 bends but my feeling is he is drawn to far from the rail to trap as smartly as he can. this race is all about the draw and redbrick droopy drawn red can blast out hold its position at the bend win this. selection:trap 1 redbrick droopy 9/4 8.50pm an 8 bend marathon other 892 metres. i love bitches in these races especially bitches in form. ministry magpie has beaten ayamzagirl fair and square at both romford and crayford in recent weeks and i expect her to confirm that superiority tonight from an ideal birth. selection:trap 1 ministry magpie 6/4 9.10pm another 645 metres contest over 6 bends.odell faith has been in great form at nottingham and looks a force to be reckoned with over these sort of distances but didnt impress here when beaten favourite last week. bodell clare was also disappointing when leading last time and wouldnt normally get caught. its bodell clare for me, i think she is just about ready to show her true running and a trap to line win looks on the cards. selection:trap 1 bodell clare 2/1 9.25pm a 4 bend contest. freedom emma is a fantastic bitch and definatly the class of the race but my preference is for the dog in red diesel malc.an emphatic winner of an open at harlow last time and has trialed well here.from a good draw i see him blasting clear. selection :trap 1 diesel malc 3/1 nap 9.45pm the big race of the night over 645 metres. he went whoosh is never to far away in these races and neither is farley zack. trap 2 and favourite blue bee was very impressive in the heats and i think he will confirm his love of the track with a successful run. he has a bit in hand on the clock and as long as clear early will win. selection:trap 2 blue bee 7/4 well thats it, no real big prices im afraid so hoping to cop a few together in multiples. have done a mixture of selections in a yankee and 3 trixies for a total outlay of £115 so lets gogogo! am working the club tonight so will be sky plussing and watching when i get home around midnight. Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: MajorMajor on January 11, 2011, 01:17:47 PM I'll post my selections before the off, no detailed analysis for me though, just trap numbers. I'm out this eve so sky plus for me too!
Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: Karabiner on January 11, 2011, 06:00:17 PM I seem to remember the market being very strong in the ring at Hall Green.
One of the few tracks where the ring prices were better than on BF, well they were last time. Freedom Emma is my only selection so far on what looks a mediocre card to me at first glance. Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: turny on January 12, 2011, 09:51:42 AM well that went well lol, one winner in eight races for no return on the night a great start to the new year!!!!
might do a more detailed/excuse post a bit later ;-) Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: MajorMajor on January 12, 2011, 11:13:16 AM I had a horrid night too, was quite optimistic beforehand!

Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: turny on January 12, 2011, 03:56:13 PM I had a horrid night too, was quite optimistic beforehand! me to mate, the track there looks very slow at the moment and a few dogs were losing their footing Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: turny on January 12, 2011, 03:57:55 PM Nice one Turny, i had'nt realised it was televised until i read your thread. That Blue bee looks a good un. blue bee looks very good, one to watch in staying events in 2011. to stayers turned behind him and made no impression. Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: turny on January 13, 2011, 04:06:44 PM excuse and analysis for tuesday night lol
7.40pm saxon warrior tapped well enough but slipped after a stride or two. was well supported on track but dont think it would have beat 3 which showed great early and won very well and looks a nice bitch. 8.00pm bower suffer is really out of form whereas rocky bolted out to make all and although tiring close home never looked like being caught. 8.15pm trap 5 bigstrongpup as expected tracked straight across to the rail out the traps but managed to clear everything by the turn and stayed on well to win.my selection sizzlers spirit stayed on well but never threatened to be fair. 8.35pmni a disappointing slow start by trap 1 here put paid to its chance especially when the winner risky wand was on a going day. 8.50pm ministry magic ran an awful race but anyone who backed trap 3 lillishin masia must have been gutted after leading this dog should never be caught. ayamzagirl is back to its old ways, running on well catching the hound in front then running with it, a dodgepot indeed!!! 9.10pm odell faith showed he isnt just a nottingham specialist with a good win here. my selection bodell clare trapped well enough but went walkabout at the 2nd turn putting pay to any chances she may have had. 9.25pm best performance of the night by oaks heroine freedom emma. very fast greyhound on a going day and should be in great demand when she becomes a brood bitch upon retirement. trap 1 my selection was well supported but a tardy start was always gona see her in emmas shadow. 9.40pm hooray at last a winner though no use to any my bets obv!! dog to follow in 6 bend events i feel as has that great combination traps and stays. so a great start to the year! had a few these last year. i seem to run well or run bad, either have 6/7 winners or have 0/1. suppose thats the best way when you betting in multiples mainly. ok profit/loss 2011 -£115 romford next wednesday for the coronation cup which is at the semi stages at the moment but already has a warm order favourite in honey trampas. romford was my local track growing up and holds some great memories hopefully we can find a few winners next wednesday! Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: turny on January 19, 2011, 02:04:50 AM ok tonight live on sky is the final and the undercard of the coral coronation cup run over 575 meters.
hopefully i can do a little better than last week 7.40pm a puppy race with some pretty speedy animals and preference for me is the favourite trap 4 freedom chief, seamus cahill's charge trialled well round here and looks the fastest in the race. selection trap 4 freedom chief 5/4 8.00pm first of 3 575 metre races on the card and it looks pretty tricky affair.i like red here coolvaney rocks, he can win both ways and i think he will hold his inside position early and pick up likely leader bubbly valasco close home. selection trap 1 coolvaney rocks 4/1 8.15pm a hurdles race with all the usual suspects. bigstrongpup and junior mac might just hold each other early which should leave track specialist lenson flash clear on the wide outside where he should hold on to win. selection trap 5 lenson flash 7/2 8.35pm 575 metre affair where most of the top trainers have contenders. trap 1 barnfield rocky looks well drawn but my preference is for trap 5droopys master. im a real fan of this hound, sometimes tardy early but if he can negotiate the first 2 bends successfully just watch his middle pace. if timing the start right he will go faster than the winner of the final imo. selection trap 5 droopys master 4/1 nap 8.50pm interesting 10 bend race over 925 metres. 4 of last weeks distance event runners reoppose with the winner ayamzagirl looking to confirm superiority over the 3 that finished behind her though in killishin masia's case a very small margin. i like the look of 6 here mercury rose, a very fast winner here on more than 1 occasion over 8 bends and if she stays she will win and theres nothing to say she wont. selection trap 6 mercury rose 2/1 9.10pm back to 4 bends and a very good race. cant see past trap 2 ardbeg mentor here. something of a standing dish at romford he boasts some very quick race times as well as sectionals here. if he traps hw he can and wrestles the rail of red by the turn then he should be away and gone. selection trap 2 ardbeg mentor 7/4 nb 9.25pm 750metre race which sees my selection last week bodell clare renew rivalry with her conqueror odell faith. the race also sees the comeback of midway skipper one of the best staying bitches of recent years. its odell faith for me this time, drawn well in trap 2 and proven that she isnt just a nottingham specialist i can see her leeading off the 2nd bend and pulling away forr a nice victory. selection trap2 odell faith 5/4 9.45pm the final of tthe coronation cup sees a very warm order in t6 honey trampas. yet to put a foot wrong and having alot of its market rivals eliminated in earlier rounds diane henrys dog should be away and gone. selection t 6 honey trampas 1/2 will prob do the same as last week, combine the selections in a fiver yankee and 3 fiver trixies. doubt il put honey trampas in and although it looks a certainty it is one for big playing singles rather than mutiple bets. whatever your selections good luck Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: action man on January 19, 2011, 05:14:30 PM massively against ardbeg mentor dontt hink it will get a run past red

Time to give up son! lol exactly what my missus said why we were watching it! what an animal ayamzagirl would be if it wasnt a dodge give up? no chance. 2 meetings in plenty more to come to get back in profit. to be fair think i had 5 losing sky nights last year out of 23 i played but didnt draw blanks in the first 2 lke this . -£230 now wont be playing the next either as il be in the caribbean so your on your own guys (thank f@ck for that they all cry ;-) ) Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: SolidSolidGould on February 08, 2011, 05:11:08 AM Good thread, I like a dabble on the greyhounds myself when i'm in the country.
I've had a look at tonights card and here are my thoughts... 7.40 T5(4/1) 8.00 T1(9/1) 8.15 T2 (9/4) 8.35 T5 (4/1) 8.50 T1 (5/1) 9.10 T2 (11/4) 9.25 T3 (7/4) (also like T6 7/1) 9.45 T3 (5/4) I've never heard of those bets you did in this thread turny, but I will look into them and maybe have a go at a yankkee? SOLID Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: action man on February 08, 2011, 07:40:55 AM Brooklyn Bandit 15/8
Junior Mac 13/8 Diesel Malc 11/4 Freedom Emma EVS Sylvanna Raven 11/4 Clonkeen Theo 6/1 Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: doglayer on February 08, 2011, 09:49:49 PM nice work action. Biggest price one of the night saves you. Everything else u bet went off half the price on the machine and got beat. The one u back at 6/1 goes off 16/1 on the machine and gags up.
Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: action man on February 08, 2011, 09:52:52 PM well had 2 bets
layed the hotpot at 2.8 in the 9.25 and had £60 on that 4 in the morning sigh not on BF just got the 8/1 Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: action man on February 08, 2011, 09:54:23 PM obv had bus driver multiples on the ones i posted
Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: doglayer on February 08, 2011, 11:58:07 PM have to admit i was amazed it went off 16/1 given the time it had on its card and the outside bias all night. Didnt make sense to me at all. I couldnt believe the gamble on the one in the last given the bias. Good profitable night though so cant complain.
Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: action man on February 09, 2011, 12:13:58 AM that razldazl jayfkay will need to break faster if its gonna do anything in the derby, looks a real bright prospect tho
Title: Re: sky greyhound 2011 and greyhound discussion thread Post by: SolidSolidGould on February 14, 2011, 02:32:15 PM that razldazl jayfkay will need to break faster if its gonna do anything in the derby, looks a real bright prospect tho so many puppies are hit and miss when so young. i got on droopys oscar last year when he was 25's just before he did the track at wimbledon. not too keen tbh because the derby is the derby.. so many promising pups, i just like that oscar runs from 6 (will get his box most rounds), and has so much potential. I just hope he gets there, unlike rayvin giovanni :( SOLID |
