Two events Omaha Week Events 3 and 4 3 Monday 17th January 8.10pm £5+0.50 PLO 2000 chips 10 min clock 4 Wednesday 19th January 8.40pm £10+1 PLO 2000 chips 10 min clock These would, I imagine, have far fewer non-blonde runners than the other league events so its a good chance to score points. I know a lot of the Sky aliases by now but all are welcome to play. If you haven't played this league so far, please post your Sky alias so I know to look out for you! p.s I am assume the comps above are currently in the schedule! How to Play Omaha Poker - A Beginner's Guide Texas Hold'em and Omaha Poker resemble each other in that it is a game played with five community cards but there are differences between the two games, the major difference is that the hands in Omaha are usually much better, since you get to choose from 9 cards in total. Rules of the Game Playing Omaha Two "Blind" bets are put up or "Posted" to start the game. As in Texas Hold’em, the player immediately to the left of ‘dealer’ puts up or "posts" the small blind. The small blind bet is half the minimum bet. The player to the immediate left of the small blind then posts the big blind. The big blind will equal the minimum bet; No more money is put up to start the hand by the other players. As the button rotates around the table, each player will in turn act as the big blind, small blind and dealer. The Game Routine – Flop, Turn, River and Showdown When the blinds are posted, each player is then dealt four cards face down . The small blind player receives the first card, so the dealer gets the last card. Now the first betting round begins. After that, 3 cards are dealt face up on the table. These cards (and part of play) is known as the "Flop." These are the ‘community cards’ and can used by all the players. The next betting round will then begin with the first active player to the left of the dealer. The Winning Hand To find out who won, all the players are obliged to use two of his hole cards and three cards from the "Board" (forming the highest five-card hand possible). The winning hand is then determined. Remember In Omaha poker each player is dealt four cards, before another five cards a dealt face up on the table. This means each player has a total of 9 cards from which to form his best five card hand. Wednesday will be a bit tricky, as I'm also PTP next door, so I'll need to wear two hats. We had 40+ for Leg 1, a little fewer last week, as the Buy-In was higher, but it'd be good to get 40+ both nights this week. If I can get my head round it, I'll try & throw in a few free Tourney Entries as spot prizes, but I need to do that with care, if I'm doing it next door on the same evening, so as not to be unfair to either side. I'll think of something, though. Any sensible ideas welcomed & considered. There is interest in the PLO DYMs and you can get some PLO cash action in the evenings. Not ideal but hopefully one day it'll really take off on the site. He's a bit of an IT whizz, can usually solve most IT probs on the Forum, & has been a tremendous support to me next door with answering the shed loads of questions I get next door. He does not have an enemy or detractor on earth - a truly good guy. Plays poker for fun, mainly small-ish stakes, though I fancy he could play higher if he so desired. He flew up to Newcastle from Southampton for the recent SPT, & was one of those who did that "tikay look-alike" thing. He's at all the SPT's. "Furniture" next door.
