Title: RSQ41, Tighty's Back to Basics.
Post by: TightEnd on January 18, 2011, 10:25:24 PM
The Rules

There are 10 questions.

PM me your answers by 11:59pm on Sunday 23rd of January
. Please put RSQ41 in subject header. Please give each answer on a SEPARATE line with corresponding question number.

The reveal will take place at 8pm on Monday 24th January

Your score for each question is number of people who give the same correct answer. So you want to go for answers that you think will be less commonly given. Levelling commonly happens. The answer most commonly given is called the sheep, with the corresponding sheep score.  If you score the only ACE in any round, you will receive MINUS 1 points for that round.  So a solitary ace for a round scores better than a pass.

You are not allowed to do research such as Google searches to come up with answers, and you're not allowed to ask others for help with your answers.

If you give an incorrect answer, you will receive sheep score + 5 points

You MUST pass on one, and only one, question and score a 0 for that question.

Any questions, post in this thread.

Objections are allowed, but a source must be provided with the INITIAL objection, otherwise subsequent evidence will most probably be deemed inadmissible and your case will be thrown out.

Lowest score after the 10 rounds will win. In the event of a tie, some type of farce will take place,

Objections encouraged. Farce intended. Participation please!

QUESTIONS

1. Name a track on the 1982 Michael Jackson album "Thriller"

2. Name a film in which the actress Angelina Jolie has had a lead role.

3. Name a possible subject in a head to head round of the TV programme Eggheads

4. Name a UK poker forum (not including poker clubs, a forum only) represented at the APAT UK team Championships in Bolton next weekend

5. Name an African Country that is a member of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (clues: former french colonies maybe, french speaking countries maybe)

6.  Name a panellist or anchor on the ITV Programme Loose Women, past or present since 1999

7. According to Official Government statistics for 2009, give a top ten holiday destination (a country) for UK travellers in that year

8. Give the name of a City in the South West of England, using the Official region boundaries currently used by UK local government

9. Give the name of a venue (a stadium or facility, not a town/city) for the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics

10. Give the name of a Nestle Chocolate brand sold in the UK market

I see farcicity and travesties in this one.  Will have to enter.

Will a description do for the Loose Women question, as I only know one of their names (I think)?

I cunningly went for that approach.  We wasn't on eggheads for nuffink innit?

( I actually know two of their names, so that confused me even more at first)

A film from the Jolie Oeuvre worth catching is "Gina" in which she plays a lesbian.

Well worth catching.

Hmmm...are we sure that Black Belt Poker is a forum - on their site it's more of a group than a forum. Set up is similar to Facebook, and that most definitely is NOT a forum.

There's no right answer to the APAT question then, because any 'right' answer is also an organisation that enters a team into poker tournaments.

Obviously, only black belt is a real fail.

UK - Fail....It just has to be

7. According to Official Government statistics for 2009, give a top ten holiday destination (a country) for UK travellers in that year

sooo apart from the fact that the UK is not a country - how can a UK traveller travel to there own country they are already there . QED

Stats for people holidaying in the UK?

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland[note 7] (commonly known as the United Kingdom, the UK, or Britain) is a sovereign state[7][8] located off the north-western coast of continental Europe. It is an island nation

The British took 42.3 million domestic holidays in 2009, according to Mintel’s estimate. For the first time in over five years, this was greater than the number of holidays abroad.

UK on the basis that it failed 3 times...

UK - not a country...over-ruled

UK not in top 1o list...overruled

You over ruled because it comes under Domestic "countries"...but a further objection is then the question states country

UK - Fail....It just has to be

You don't like me do you...

Moonandback and Joobie must PM me the answer to the following question by 22.40pm

In which month is my daughter's birthday?

Nearest month to the correct month wins. No googling possible

Winner can RSQ QM themselves or nominate A N Other who would like to do it

Pride is at stake, good luck both

9 and 10 no good.

I'm "not allowed" to enter Joobs' quizzes. That's because I have to do the dirty work and sort out all the answers.
