lol @ the blurb before the 'best forum' category.  if that's the voting criteria we've got to be a shoe-in imo

Quote
BEST ONLINE FORUM
They’re havens of top-class poker strategy, childish banter, and discussions on the various merits of the X Factor finalists. But who’s the best?

Poker Personality - got to vote for Dwyte Pilgrim by default, even though I've never heard of him, simply because of who the other nominees are.

When we were diving under tables in Berlin, knowing only that people had guns and not what they were going to use them for, I didn't really have it down as the moment of the year.

I assume it's not meant to be there as the funniest or greatest moment, but still seems a strange choice?

I'm still struggling to work out how a skin can be nominated for best online poker room.

Stu, it wasn't meant to be a particularly "good" moment, just one of the notable moments of the year. You can't argue it wasn't a newsworthy moment of 2010.

Awards are now closed and thanks to everyone who voted. Obviously shortlists are always going to divide opinion, from the various merits of the candidates to whether one should have them at all, but the mag has never held one before and we thought it was high time. Anyway, check out the mag on March 17th for full results.

P.S. Willie is a LEGEND. End of.

How exactly do you win Personality of the Year?

If Negreanu helps two old ladies to cross the road and donates $200 to charity has he got a chance of having a better personality than Laak next year?

And Outstanding Contribution to Poker. What a load of old bollocks.

They contributed to making themselves a little bit richer in 2010 and several other players a good bit poorer.

They don't give a rats arse about "the good of poker"

Poker awards are stupid. Even though blondepoker won one.

Well done Stoke Circus for best card room runner up spot behind the magnificent DTD. My local card room so chuffed for them.

This is great news for stoke circus , we were all happy to be in the vote and to come runners up behind dtd is a great credit to the work that all of our team are putting in and a great credit to the players who play to an impresive standard at stoke, thanks for all the votes and im sure that val , andy , katy and myself will keep up the hardwork in seeing that our cardroom is kept at such a great standard.

Hi all,

No awards ceremony this time, it was our first Awards and we wanted to test the water a little as we'd never tried it. What we weren't expecting was the level of interest from readers. We received bagfuls of votes which was great to see. IMO some worthy winners came out of it too, you can't deny that. (even though one or two voters had never heard of anyone on the International Player list - oh dear...)

We'll have a look at this again near the end of 2011 and see about expanding the awards list and maybe knocking up some trophies.

Cheers again, and well done to Blonde.
