Obviously shortlists are always going to divide opinion, from the various merits of the candidates to whether one should have them at all, but the mag has never held one before and we thought it was high time. No awards ceremony this time, it was our first Awards and we wanted to test the water a little as we'd never tried it. What we weren't expecting was the level of interest from readers. We received bagfuls of votes which was great to see. IMO some worthy winners came out of it too, you can't deny that. (even though one or two voters had never heard of anyone on the International Player list - oh dear...) We'll have a look at this again near the end of 2011 and see about expanding the awards list and maybe knocking up some trophies. Cheers again, and well done to Blonde. Jon Young WPT Poker |
