Title: Live game.....doing my head in! Post by: El Tilto on January 29, 2011, 01:42:38 PM Live game short handed.
5 players, total chips in play 36k. Before hand starts i have 10k villain has 8k. Blinds 200/400, payout is top 2 although 2nd only money back. Dealer is an aggressive player who will play any two but would usually raise good hands pre flop, likes to get creative on flop. I'm in BB with Tc 6c All fold to button who calls, SB calls i check. Pot 1200 Flop comes 5c 4h 2c SB ch I bet 700 Villain raises to 2100 SB folds Whats your play? Title: Re: Live game.....doing my head in! Post by: boldie on January 29, 2011, 01:53:42 PM What does "likes to get creative on the flop" mean? I always translate this as "He likes to bluff and doesn't mind donking off chips which is why I thought it'd be a good idea to shove into him here but at least I have given myself a reason for donking out of the tourney"
Fold is probably the right choice but meh, only 2 places pay so could well shove here especially as only winning is any good here. And think about what to do before you lead out on the flop next time. Title: Re: Live game.....doing my head in! Post by: El Tilto on January 29, 2011, 01:59:08 PM "Creative on flop" means just what you said Boldie.
I take it you would have ch called the flop? Appreciate you taking time to reply, thanks. Title: Re: Live game.....doing my head in! Post by: pokerfan on January 29, 2011, 02:00:41 PM Shove for me.
Title: Re: Live game.....doing my head in! Post by: SuuPRlim on January 29, 2011, 02:04:02 PM And think about what to do before you lead out on the flop next time. very much this ^^^ - speshly if you think he can get cute/tricky post flop you really need to consider how you're going to re-act to a raise before you bet, you really dont want to be bet/folding on flops where you have so much equity as its a very expensive mistake In this spot persoanlly i'm pretty happy to bet/get it in, described villain can have a lots of 1p/striaght draw type hands and i think your Td Th Ts outs are almost certainly live - I think c/raise might be slightly better as you can defo get your stack in with a bit more fold equity but bet/going all in seems absolutely fine as well Title: Re: Live game.....doing my head in! re-read stack sizes, maybe we cant c/jam might be a touch too deep Title: Re: Live game.....doing my head in! Post by: El Tilto on January 29, 2011, 02:40:56 PM Need to point out.......the bit thats doing my head in is the grief i got from the other players for my eventual play.
The main reason i led on the flop is i was expecting villain to raise or AT LEAST call (i know this guy quite well) and i must admit i was trying to build the pot at this stage........am i wrong here? I did shove and he called after a little thought. He showed 7d 5d. During the post hand discussions he thought my play was a poor one as "i had no hand" Again, thanks for your thoughts guys Title: Re: Live game.....doing my head in! Post by: redarmi on January 30, 2011, 04:27:43 AM I am happy to get it in here as his hand looks very much like what it turned out to be....ie. top pair that knows an overcard is coming and won't know what to do when it does. If you shoved it is a pretty terrible call by him tbh.
Title: Re: Live game.....doing my head in! Post by: JK on January 30, 2011, 05:36:22 AM Also like bet/jam this deep. As it turns out, he has virtually the perfect hand vs ours, and if he spews alot usually then we have fold equity vs his air balls.
Alot of live players think they're perfect in their lines and hand analysis. Don't listen, you made a good play. Tbf, the guy butchered the hand in the first place by limping the button with 20 BBs. Just need to learn to win flips now (when you do, teach me please :x) Title: Re: Live game.....doing my head in! Post by: Bubbba82 on February 18, 2011, 06:15:52 PM Get it in. 1st prize is the only prize wirth playin for. u have descent equity unless he has higher fl draw. get it in
Title: Re: Live game.....doing my head in! Post by: DMorgan on February 18, 2011, 06:54:18 PM Jamming flop is fine and don't listen to people that are totally clueless, its not gunna do you any good. Stacking off here is completely standard, wp get there next time ;)
Title: Re: Live game.....doing my head in! Post by: baltic_blonde on February 18, 2011, 07:33:48 PM I would def shove over the top here. You have a flush draw, gutshot and possibly a 10 as an out, so potentially 16 outs in total, no better spot getting your money in, especially with only 2 places paid and the guy having fold equity if he is bluffing.

bet/3bet is my line with these stack sizes, ul not getting him to fold 75 or getting there. Title: Re: Live game.....doing my head in! Post by: Bubbba82 on February 18, 2011, 07:58:40 PM Dan morgan ITT.
