Title: Deep in MTT, lock down pot or extract with premiums? Post by: OverTheBorder on January 29, 2011, 05:21:11 PM Played the following hand really badly, dont play much online, trying to ease back into it, played a lot a few years back on crypto but moved on a hell of a lot since then! Basically, want to know if when sitting with a massive hand pre, would everyone insta shove the SB bet or take a different line? my thinking was my bet would look like a standard blind battle and he could easily put me on very little trying to bluff, I didnt see him flatting, I thought he would shove or fold, I was inticing the shove but never got the result. Should I just be insta shoving pre? Also, when the A hits, based on a small blind raise, its more likely he has flatted with connectors than a raggy ace, so I am pretty much committed to the pot, no idea why I did not just shove the flop, I got LOST! I guess he would probably have to call a flop shove anyway? or do people think he folds that. would be interested to find out how others play it? as I concede I made a dogs dinner of it from start to finish :( ***** Hand 2477491626 ***** 4000.00/8000.00 Texas Hold'em (No Limit ) Hand started: 29 January 2011 01:14:45 €5,000 GTD REBUY (Real /Tournament ) Seat 1: *NaSiRo* (197085.00) Seat 2: 73offsuit (102471.00) (HERO - said losely as I didnt play it like one) Seat 3: greymoon (62011.00) Seat 5: mte1904 (143958.00) Seat 6: DedaMraz01 (60869.00) Seat 7: aalglatt (233204.00) Seat 9: ZekeW0lf (224402.00) *NaSiRo* Ante 800.00 73offsuit Ante 800.00 greymoon Ante 800.00 mte1904 Ante 800.00 DedaMraz01 Ante 800.00 aalglatt Ante 800.00 ZekeW0lf Ante 800.00 *NaSiRo* post SB 4000.00 73offsuit post BB 8000.00 ** Deal ** 73offsuit [Kc, Kh] *** Bet Round 1 *** greymoon Fold mte1904 Fold DedaMraz01 Fold aalglatt Fold ZekeW0lf Fold *NaSiRo* Raise to 16000.00 73offsuit Raise to 34800.00 *NaSiRo* Call 34800.00 *** Flop(Board): *** : [7d, 10s, Ah] *** Bet Round 2 *** *NaSiRo* Check 73offsuit Check *** Turn(Board): *** : [7d, 10s, Ah, 9s] *** Bet Round 3 *** *NaSiRo* Bet 22000.00 73offsuit All-in 66871.00 *NaSiRo* Call 66871.00 *** River(Board): *** : [7d, 10s, Ah, 9s, 3s] *** Showdown *** : Rake: 0.00 Total Pot: 208942.00 *NaSiRo* [10c, 9c] Two pair tens and nines Win: 208942.00 73offsuit [Kc, Kh] Pair of kings Win: 0.00 greymoon Fold Win: 0.00 mte1904 Fold Win: 0.00 DedaMraz01 Fold Win: 0.00 aalglatt Fold Win: 0.00 ZekeW0lf Fold Win: 0.00 Hand ended: 29 January 2011 Title: Re: Deep in MTT, lock down pot or extract with premiums? Title: Re: Deep in MTT, lock down pot or extract with premiums? Post by: redarmi on January 30, 2011, 04:31:59 AM Yeah just shove. Raising anything less just looks so strong that the better players are going to see anything other than a shove for what it is. Also are you realistically ever folding???? in that case get it in whilst you are good rather than giving away the initiative. If you do bet less than all ion you bhave to bet the flop anyway.

Never folding, to be honest, I got kinda spooked, he posted something in a foreign language on chat, just distracted me for some reason, checked and thought why the hell did I do that...never folding any turn so when he bets its auto all in! only way I win that pot is shove pre I sense :( just want to know if thats the accepted play Title: Re: Deep in MTT, lock down pot or extract with premiums? Post by: SuuPRlim on January 31, 2011, 12:21:39 PM like you say he he very few Ax's when he just peels pre, so you have the bet hand almost always OTF
Title: Re: Deep in MTT, lock down pot or extract with premiums? Post by: AlexMartin on January 31, 2011, 12:54:41 PM well id shove or flat pre with these stacks. 3b looks way too strong as i dont see you folding very often to a 4b jam.
as played you would have to run the math but call/call might be better, at the very least you keep his range wider. Title: Re: Deep in MTT, lock down pot or extract with premiums? Post by: baltic_blonde on February 03, 2011, 03:40:47 PM I ship it in preflop, as you only have 12bb. Small 3bet looks way too strong...however as played, I would put in the rest of my stack on the flop.
Title: Re: Deep in MTT, lock down pot or extract with premiums? Post by: Royal Flush on February 05, 2011, 06:34:02 AM rofl at everyone saying 3b jam instead of 3b small as it looks weaker, oppo called us with T9.....think its perfect play pre.
Title: Re: Deep in MTT, lock down pot or extract with premiums? Post by: SuuPRlim on February 05, 2011, 01:23:10 PM €5,000 GTD REBUY (Real /Tournament ) think that goes along way to explaining pre :) Title: Re: Deep in MTT, lock down pot or extract with premiums? Do you mean worry bout laddering prizes affects pre play or general weak play in these tournaments? Title: Re: Deep in MTT, lock down pot or extract with premiums? Post by: SuuPRlim on February 07, 2011, 05:16:54 PM no sorry was just joking that the guy's T9o preflop antics prolly had a lot to with it being a euro comp, tend to see some mayhem in those :p
fwiw my thoughts are that I think a jam is better from an overall game theory angle, unless you are going to small 4b hands like Kc Qc etc but in this particular vacuum you most likely played the hand perfectly :) and your play post flop is spot on also |
