Spacccccceman! Title: Re: don't miss.. Post by: The Baron on February 13, 2011, 09:52:25 AM I don't know the situations in the games for the goals already posted but surely Rooney's gets some respeck for the fact it's the winning goal in the derby in a season where losing could cost Utd the league to their closest rivals.
However, in terms of importance this is the best hat-tick/goal I can remember in club football (bicycle kick is 3rd) vs one of the best keepers of the last generation in Santigo Canizares (Kasper Schmeichel and Pepe Reina have said they base their game on him). Barca are trying to get into the champions league and they're playing Valencia who are currently in 4th - this is the last game of the season. Barca have had financial troubles and need to qualify. Rivaldo's first two goals are pretty awesome but it's 2-2 in the 90th minute when he digs this one out....... YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_qOCnoIMgE Title: Re: don't miss.. No it doesn't. We were not talking about the most important good goal ever scored (Or Beckham's qualifying goal would pwn Rivaldo's surely?) but the best overhead kick..purely technical. Disagree here. The stage is everything otherwise there are numerous examples of better goals than this in nothing matches or once a game is won. Technical ability alone Van Basten >>>> everyone else. Yes, it's a great goal and especially in this game but it's massively overhyped, as the British media tend to do, and definitely not the best goal of his career. (IMO) Title: Re: don't miss.. But for me the great players do it on the great stages when the pressure is on. Which is why, although technically inferior to Van Basten say - Rivaldo's hat-trick is probably the greatest single performace I've seen on a football pitch. Title: Re: don't miss.. Post by: The Baron on February 14, 2011, 05:47:12 PM Very similar to your man Van Basten, (and every bit as good imo) Ronaldo has retired in a career cut short by injury.

Me for Tadcaster East Primary School vs Haxby in 97/98. I took the kick off with my strike partner Scotty "Too Hotty" Poulter, chipped it up to myself and just hoofed it as hard as I could towards the opposition goal and it bounced just before the little keeper and went well over his head and into the goal. Some of my very young sources tell me that that goal is still talked about by people wearing the famous yellow and red to this day. Title: Re: don't miss..
