Title: Tennis Tip Of The Year
Post by: sledge13 on February 19, 2011, 09:11:44 PM
Back Milos Raonic in any tourney you can, was 80/1 for Wimbledon only 2 days ago, got him at 38's...future world no 1! Horner can back me on this one..

His serve is unbelieveable, he plays people like Mardy Fish who have big serves themselves and wins like 30-3 on the ace count. And unlike the likes of Karlovic and Isner he is developing the game to back it up.

Obviously 38/1 is a rubbish price, especially when still 80/1 with Blue Square, don't quite know what you're talking about there.

:D Im just a Betfair muppet, im not some pro gambler that shops around for the best odds...(message to self - maybe do that then dickhead!).

Playing Roddick in a few hours, will be very interesting to see how he does, two big serves against each other...

A tiebreak to be played at 4/6 looks the best bet

ship it, all odds on shots should be that easy.

Wish i'd bought the games on the spreads, could be a max 39 if the tbs fall the right way.

16 Aces for Raonic and the set isn't over yet. 19 is the record atm held by Richard Krajicek on grass

Awesome diving passing shot on match point by Roddick.

7-6 6-7 7-5 Roddick, 38 games, still wish I'd bought the games on the spreads rather than taking my poxy price.

should we be backing this kid regularly you think?

He's odds against tomorrow against berloqc on clay, worth a punt?

Berloqc is a quality clay court performer.

Alot of his power will be nullified by the surface.

Might be a bit of a leap of faith to ever have Berlocq and quality in the same sentence Keith. Hes a very average clay court mug but yeah, at least he does have 215 games on the red stuff, winning 133. I saw him play Kohlscreiber on hard and the tennis was just abysmal but obviously he is all about the clay.

Raonic has only ever played twice on the surface and lost both times.

Got to be just a watching brief for me @ the prices all things considered but I would be a touch disappointed if Raonic doesn't come through it considering he has shown no signs of bounce so far in 2011 despite playing a whopping 24 games.

Its a lot of travelling just hours after a long setter, bit surprised he hasn't pulled out. I guess he is just desperate to try and improve on the surface ahead of the bigger master series tournaments and ultimately the French Open.

I know next to nuffink about tennis.

Have a question regarding this Raonic bloke.
When he starts to win stuff, will people (and their people) devote more time and energy into looking at video of his serve and figuring out how to read it etc thus nullifying the weapon?

Got Berlocq mixed up with Bellucci  ;scarymoment; ;ashamed;

ahhh lol, explains things, Bellucci is very talented.

In regards to your question Tank, yes you would think so, but i've still not seen anything like it in terms of height and power so i still think it will be difficult for them. He is only 20 too, improvement would be sick.

His massive weakness is his backhand (i'm hoping it can be worked on to become average like a Soderling/Berdych backhand, solid enough when they absolutely can't run round the forehand). At the moment Federer would pick it apart. Roddick didn't have the ability to do so.

I sat ringside on an outside court at the Aussie Open for a match between John Isner and Fabrice Santoro.

Isner has a truly terrifying serve and had about 10 times the power of his oppenent.

But it was remarkable to see the Frenchman pick him apart, using the power and his amazing reflexes to outsmart the American.

Power certainly isn't everything in tennis.

Santoro was a wizard!

sigh, Raonic has pulled out of the match tomorrow to allow some time to rest after his match v Roddick.
