Reports I've heard say it's moderate at best, and about 45 minutes drive from the City, in the middle of nowhere. Not a great venue at all. Like having the EPT Grand Final at Walsall. Title: Re: EPT Grand Final to be held in Madrid Post by: Da Bookie on February 22, 2011, 02:08:50 AM Very strange choice. For me Monte Carlo is the best place I have ever played poker, qualified for the 2007 grand final for 24 dollars on stars my first live tournament would you believe. I decided I needed to get some live practice so I went to Stockport Gala and played the £10 re buy lol
seemed a good idea at the time. Can only think its because of some legal or regulation reason why move from the best venue in the world? and change what is the flagship event of European poker. Sure more will come out on this. Title: Re: EPT Grand Final to be held in Madrid Post by: The Camel on February 22, 2011, 02:22:39 AM Very strange choice. The Monaco Governemnt did a deal with Everest so they could have exclusive rights to running live tournaments in the principality. Really strange choice, which makes me wonder whether they have visited the venue? Very similar to Walsall, as it also is a dump 40 minutes up the motorway from a beautiful, cultured city. Ok, I'll fall into your tarp. What is the beautiful, cultured city 40 minutes from Walsall? Wolverhampton? It must just be too obvious that Birmingham is then. :) Would defintiely advise staying in the centre of Madrid, rather than where the casino is, on a motorway junction 30 miles out. They have gone from the most overwhelming to most underwhelming stop in Europe in one fell swoop Title: Re: EPT Grand Final to be held in Madrid Post by: The Camel on February 22, 2011, 02:59:52 AM Meh. They have gone from the most overwhelming to most underwhelming stop in Europe in one fell swoop Heard Birmingham called a few a things in my time, but never beautiful and cultured. You must see things in Spagetti Junction and the Bullring Centre that most others miss!
