Title: Hand in DTD £100
Post by: david3103 on February 28, 2011, 11:13:21 AM
247 runners
about 90 left
Blinds 800/1600/200
Average c 26,500
Hero - c40,000 (just down from 60k+ after losing a flip with Karabiner 10 10 < AK all in pre)
Villain - c22,000 - no real view on villain, he hasn't been at the table for long but my overall impression was that he was nothing special

Villain raised from UTG+1 to 3,500
folds to me in BB with  Td 4d

I flat - I think know am pretty sure this is wrong - the hand came very soon after I'd lost the flip with Ralph and I may have lost some of my focus at that point

However....
Flop is   4s 2d 7d

I check, villain bets 5,000

I.......

Pre is awful obv, c/r all in is the easily the best play here. We are flipping against overpairs here, never mind having some fold equity and an overlay in the pot.

I know we're all here to learn but you should have probably not posted that due to the preflop action ;) But we all tilt every now and then i'm sure. Get it in now then either feel very relieved when you get there or start kicking yourself asking wtf you were doing in the pot when you lose. Then tilt shove the next hand with AA :)

btw OP - this flop is absolute heaven for your hand

you should have 14 outs twice which puts you favourite vs any over pair

I know that I made a absolute mess of the hand -in a sense I posted it to get abused and to make sure that I never make the initial mistake again -

AND to avoid making mistake number 2...

I called the bet on the flop.... I think this may have been even worse than calling pre

anyway, I hit the  8d and shoved - got called by  Ad Kh

where does my 50p go?

Overall, I think I'd played well to this point - had the same seat from beginning to exit and accumulated chips pretty consistently after a slightly dodgy start (lost 2,000 on the first hand with a misjudged raise on the flop) but it's a common theme for me - I build a decent stack but then have one hand or one small sequence where it goes horribly wrong.

I am in awe of the concentration and focus of the serial winners - one day I'll achieve that state.

Yeh i think you know where you've gone wrong here. I don't think calling the flop is as bad as calling pre, but c/r is by far the best play. I'd be c/shoving with just a bare flush draw in this spot. You're hand is awesome now, much less awesome if u brick the turn and get it in with half as much equity. So get it in now.

Don't be fooled into thinking "but he had AK and would've folded on the flop and the way I played it he called my shove and I won more chips". This isn't the right way to think about things imo.

Trust me - that thought never entered my head.
