Title: The Tote Jackpot Rollover - £2 Million Tomorrow
Post by: chrisbruce on March 07, 2011, 07:15:24 PM
The Tote Jackpot has rolled over to Exeter tomorrow and is expected to top £2 Million pounds. All you have to do is predict all 6 winners tomorrow.

check out this link - http://www.racingpost.com/news/horse-racing/

The more lines (horses) you choose the bigger your chances of winning. so I propose a Blonde forum syndicate where we can give it a serious go.

I suggest £50 per head but I am open to suggestions depending on the level of interest.

So who is in ??????

Once we have at least 5 people we can get started.

I am happy to take the cash and place the bets but also happy for somebody else to do this.  ship on full tilt or stars.

All bets / lines would be pm to members prior to the 1st race.

Chris - have you got an idea of selections or is the idea to have as many perms as money permits?  The field look largish - can you still have part tickets e.g. 50p on the jackpot for more perms?

Post by: chrisbruce on March 08, 2011, 10:06:20 AM
Ok I have updated the opening post with those who are in and for what amount as best as I can.

I would prefer Camel or Honeris to select the horses once we know roughly how many lines we can do.

In the meantime I will put up a suggested perm for debate to get us started.

Can vouch for Josedinho

I'd like to purchase 2 shares worth plz. Can I have bank details too, I don't have my own cash on Poker sites.

I'm going out in an hour but will have a quick look at each race.

What sort of perm are you thinking? Although I suppose its difficult without knowing how many will invest.

Could be an epic fail or a fantastic sweat.

Could you have a go at some picks?  I wouldve thought the shape of the perm should be something like

race 1 2 picks
race 2 3 picks
race 3 4 picks
race 4 3 picks
race 5 2 picks
race 6 4 picks

thats 576 so room for maybe 1 more somewhere?

2.30. I really like Pepite Rose in the first. Jumps well and looked a really classy individual last time out. The ground is the only worry, she seems to motor through heavy/soft ground and won't get that today. Still, against this calibre of opposition her ability might be enough.

Obvious danger is Semi Colon with AP on board who has battled well on previous runs and will obviously improve in this respect for McCoy replacing Andrew Tinkler.

Whether Pepite Rose is banker material with a slight ground worry I don't know but I certainly wouldn't want to leave her out.

there has to be a banker. And whilst people want sweats etc, you just cant win with small perms and no bankers because when the miracle happens u chop it 10,000 ways

Title: Re: The Tote Jackpot Rollover - £2 Million Tomorrow

i mean to win, you have to bank the short ones that win, and oppose the ones that dont lol. Easy yeah?

I think you can do part tickets - I just did 2 50p lines on skybet.  So we can prob a perm that results in e.g 90p tickets.

R1 3,9
R2 2,3,7
R3 2,3,4,5,7,9,13,16,17
R4 1,7
R5 6
R6 1,3,5,7,9

Hi Camel

I would prefer to go £1 per line

Sure, I don't expect you to go with my selections, they were just my thoughts.

Mostly I think we should have lots of selctions in the third and last races, I think these are the races where we might find a 20/1 winner and boost the dividend.

If any regs want money on FTP for this, they can PM me and give me details, your Stars money for my FT money.

I'd probably bet it to be won at 2/1 and happy to lay Evens it isn't.

So 6/4 seems about fair.

OK.. £300 - £200.

For you to win, it's got to be fully won.

For me to win there's got to be a total rollover.

Otherwise no bet.

How is he supposed to lay it? He probably doesn't have 400k in his betfair account if he can';t afford a £32 perm

Just out of interest. You have a chance of winnign 2mill (or 1.5 actually after the Tote take their monies). You have only spent 2£ to get that chance.

for how much would you lay the 14-1 shot off?

not really possible to lay anything significant, virtually no betfair liquidity on outsiders on races like this.

Ok Bookiebasher is going to take our £88 treble bet and will post the odds on here shortly (Leeds MKdons Rotherham)

If we win I can return most of your cash, if not I will have to hand over a large sum to a Bookie and that would just hurt soo much.....

Ok , had a quick look on Easy Odds and reckon Skybet offer best odds of 6-5 leeds , 11-10 mk dons

and 6-4 Rotherham.

For £88 return of £1016.40

Will stand this one  ::)

Hope this meets with your approval Mr Hawkins ;)

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/horseracing/8369528/Racegoer-wins-1.5m-jackpot-with-2-stake.html

Steve Whiteley, 60, went to the racecourse at Exeter for free using his bus pass, then entered the grounds for free through a promotion.

Mr Whiteley, a heating engineer who only goes to the races twice a year, put his money on the Tote Jackpot, which requires punters to pick every winning horse in six races.

As each race takes place, those who did not pick the winner are eliminated and the field of gamblers rapidly thins. If no one picks all six winners, the winning pot rolls over to the following event.

Yesterday, 363,000 tickets picked the winner in the first leg, but just 9,076 tickets then repeated their success in the second. The field was slashed again after the third race, which saw 571 punters go through. Only seven people picked the fourth winner, and Mr Whitley was the only ticket left for both of the final races.

The winning horses were Semi Colon (at odds of 2-1), Black Phantom (12-1), Ammunition (16-1), Mr Bennett (16-1), Lundy Sky (5-1) and Lupita (12-1).

The odds against achieving this feat are 368,639-1.

Speaking after the win, Mr Whiteley said: "The most exciting bit was when my mate said to me after the fourth race that there were only seven people in the whole country left in the jackpot. And then at the last he said 'There is only one left and it’s this one'.

"I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t look – I am shaking like a leaf.

"I am not a horse racing man. I go out once or twice a year."

He said his wife learned of his fortune as he was interviewed by the horse-racing programme At The Races, adding that his previous biggest win was £300.

In the Tote Jackpot, the total stakes entered are put into a pool, which is shared by the winners, rather than a fixed price being offered and every jackpot winner getting a set amount.

The total pool for yesterday's jackpot was just over £2million, which left Mr Whiteley with £1,425,309 after the Tote's deductions.

The jockey of the final winning horse was Jessica Lodge, who had ridden in 28 races without a victory before yesterday.

Asked how he picked her at 12-1, Mr Whiteley said: "Lodge was a name that was hanging in my head."

He insisted that his jackpot would not stop him working, adding that he would continue in his job "until I die", and said: "My wife just saw me on TV – she can’t believe it.

"I’m not really a gambling man. I phoned up today and it was free and I used my bus pass to get here."

George Primarolo, of Totesport, which organises the jackpot, said: "This is an incredible fairy story - Steve has won a fortune for two quid.

"It is the type of win that dreams are made of."

Graham Sharpe, of the bookmaker's William Hill, said: "Most punters aren't looking to win a million quid so it's a dream come true.

"I'm just glad he won it on the Tote and not with a bookmaker. Maybe he'd like to come to us now and spend a bit of his winnings."

If those odds are correct he would have won £1758276 for his £2 barring the fact no bookie would have actually paid the full winnings.

I know but that's what his stake x the odds equals which is larger than the tote payout. As i said however, no bookie would payout that much due to the limits.

thats incorrect - the bet that won was a £1 bet and the payout was higher than an accumulator of the winning horses.
