yep, water taxi (vaporetto) ftw - can sit on the deck and see some decent sights along the way - think they do day passes so you can hop on and off.  It's been a fair while since I was in Venice, but if it's still there try to get time to fit in an ice cream at Gelateria Nico.

Would usually advise people not to buy a coffee on St Marks Square as you'll pay well over the odds, but as you're Dubai that's probably a must :)

have fun!

This and they're expensive. Just go on a river taxi.

Erm the cheap wine is nice from the Offies!!! Keep yer bottle n just keep going back to fill it up. Dead romantic, she'll love it.
Lol, these tips should be on the nit thread. Dubai is a ridic baller.

You can do all of these at the Venetian in Vegas.

Much better value.

Blimey don't tell my wife.....she's been wanting to go for so long we now need a family room  ;)

Had a quick look to see where we might go....

Hope the weather's good.... if so the Danieli restaurant looks to have a great view:

Also a trip across to the Hotel Cipriani gardens looks romantic....Casanova held his clandestine trysts here  :D

and for downtown real venice, this sounds great:

Do Mori, Venice
In Venice, there is a 548-year-old wine bar called Do Mori. It is near Rialto Bridge and is named after the two moors who served here in the 17th century. It is a charming and atmospheric place that amounts to little more than a dark corridor between two alleys. The food is simple: small snacks (known as ciccheti) such as salt cod on polenta, anchovies on toast, tiny soft sandwiches called francobolli (postage stamps) and, in winter, pig's trotter sausage in broth. The wine is local: Custoza from the Veneto, Pinot Bianco from Friuli. At around 11 every morning the place fills up with traders from the nearby Rialto fish market, coming in for their first ombra of the day (an ombra is a small glass of plonk, literally "shadow"). The service is unsmiling and blunt but you don't care; you know that this is the real Venice, hidden, simple, unpretentious, and pretty much unchanged for half a century.
• San Polo 429 (entrances on Calle Galiazza and Calle Do Mori), +39

Luna Baglioni looks fantastic......enjoy!

Found these,

Osteria Da Fiore
One of only two Michelin-starred restaurants in Venice; renowned for its superlative fresh fish and awe-inspiring prices; specialties include squid ink risotto, steamed local sea bass with aged balsamic vinegar, and grappa-scented green apple sorbet. Tip: Reserve a table with the canal view weeks in advance. Calle del Scaleter 2202; tel. 39 041 721 308.

Fiaschetteria Toscana
Housed in a former Tuscan wine warehouse, but strictly Venetian dishes; specialties include frittura alla Serenissima, a savory tangle of fried seafood and vegetables, and moeche (soft-shell crab), when in season; extensive all-Italian wine list; sip a glass of prosecco while perusing the menu. Cannaregio 5719; tel. 39 041 528 5281. www.fiaschetteriatoscana.it

Al Covo
“[Chef] Cesare Benelli is esteemed by the most critical diners for his fresh and simple preparations of lagoon fish.”—Michela Scibilia. Attracts gourmands from far and wide; eight-course tasting menu and local (always unfarmed) fish and shellfish; owners Benelli and his wife Diane Rankin create a traveler-friendly environment; small brick-walled restaurant near Riva degli Schiavoni. Castello 3968; tel. 39 041 522 3812.
