blinds are 600-1200/100 when they come back

Play is usually fast and furious for a couple of hours as those on 30,000 below have nice 3 bet shoving stacks to try and make progress with

It tends to settle down later as the field and stacks consolidate

Today the plan is to play another Nine levels, or reach the final first. Nine levels then

Please join me at 2pm

Jon Prested flats on the button

Shorter Stacked Dan Borwn shoves the small blind

Ilyukhin iso-shoves...or so he thinks

as he is met with a snap call by Prested

3 way all in

Ilyukhin  Jd Jc

Prested  Ad Aspades

Brown  2s 2h

Aces hold, Prested takes both out and goes over 100,000

Karl Mahrenholz has taken out Stephen Eames and Keir Ratcliff. Eames A-10 on a ten high board, Karl with Kings

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ian Woodley 60,000 or so, recently shoved over a Talal Shakerchi raise, from the button, got a fold, and made some more progress

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

57 left, 10 gone already today

Simon Hemsworth gets it all in with QQ versus John Man in the big blind on J-2-10-8, Man holding J-9. Jack on the river to knock Simon out

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jeff Kimber 2,400 on the button, James Price 7,600 in the small blind, Kimber 16,000 on the button, Price passes

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Andros Spyrou wins a big pot against Max Youzdani with J-J on 8-10-K-2-J

Chris Kyriacou insists I tell you all that Max got "jacked off"

Humour works best when it is dry and understated I find

Chris Kyriacou raises utg, and Max Youzdani calls in mid position

The now shortstracked Chris Jaromin shoves in the big blind

Kyriacou iso shoves

Youzdani sighs, says "I have a pair but it is not big enough"

Kyriacou, with whom these updates have some history after his questionable behaviouur was the subject of much debate in GUKPT Luton in 2008, I think, begins his patter

"How can you fold a pair here, are you mad?"

Youzdani folds  Tc Td face up

Jaromin flips  9c 9h

Kyriacou  Ad Kc

flop  6h Ahrt Aspades

Kyriacou "Man you are bad, how can you pass tens? Put a ten down dealer, teach him a lesson"

No ten arrives, no nine comes

Not a fan of it myself, a fine line with this play between cheekiness and going OTT

Anyway, Jaromin out and Kyriacou over 150,000

Just seen the most wonderful hand

Jamie Roberts raises pre and Anthony Kennedy calls in the big blind

flop  5c Qd Qc

Kennedy checks

Roberts 3,000

Kennedy 8,000 called

turn  Kh

check, check

river  Ts

Kennedy 10,000

Roberts 40,000

Long think, Kennedy asks how much Roberts has left

"75,000 behind" is the answer

Kennedy all in

this is two of the chip leaders clashing

Roberts thinks and thinks

He looks at Kennedy and says

"I Have a house"

"King Queen?"

"Pocket Fives?"

Kennedy replies

"You can always fold"

Roberts

"I don't see why you'd raise me back if you just have a Queen"

"I have Pocket tens"

Kennedy is implacable

Eventually, to "wows" from the table Roberts passes  Td Tc face up

Kennedy stands up and screams "You have been bluffed mate"

and shows  Qs

"I'll show you the other for £500"

Roberts "£100"

Kennedy "No"

Roberts "Go on then, £500"

Kennedy "No way (laughing). I had  Ks Qs though, I promise. Great fold"

Danny D'Borin out 29th

-------------------------------

Max Winberg limps utg, Caroline De Weert raises to 7,500 on the button

Chris Kyriacou calls in the small blind. Winberg calls

flop  8c 8d 4h

De Weert leads for 15,000

Kyriacou 30,000

De Weert shoves for 79,000 more

Now you may have seen the length of the dwell on the live feed. Inordinate.

De Weert looks nervous to be fair, and Kyriacou picks up on this and leans over towards her, and she smiles as if he hand has been well and truly caught in a Greek Cypriot cookie jar

Eventually he folds. He tells me he had Jacks. He shows me a Jack. Not both though

She kindly flips  6h 6d

and takes down a big pot

Kyriacou is momentarily silenced, if he had Jacks he's made a mistake pre (clearly, no 3 bet from the small bind) and has then 3 bet folded on the flop, a fold that might cost him a money finish here

Jon Spinks raises from a stack of 78,000

Ken Wong sets him in

Spinks snaps with A-Q

Wong has 4-3 off!! Presumably Spinks snapping was not part of the plan

Wong flops an open ended straight draw but misses to send Spinks into the rarefied orbit of 165,000

With 70,000 in the middle of the pot

board reads   Tc  2h  8c Qs Ks

Marco Fratelli bets 60,000 into Praz Banzi

Banzi thinks and thinks

Eventually he says to Fratelli

"Whatever you want me to do I will do. These people watching (points at me) are my witness. What do you want me to do?"

I am not sure Marco's English is up to the speechplay to be frank. He doesn't reply

Banzi "I am a man of my word, if you want me to call i will call"

Silence.

Banzi tosses his cards away, not a happy bunny. Doesn't like giving up a decent pot.

We're on the bubble

Jon Young opens to 7,000

Bruno fernades all in for his last 4,000

Rudling and Kimber call

flop  Th 8d 3h

Rudling bets 4,000 rest fold

Rudling  Jd Td

Fernandes  Qh  7h

Pretty good for him really, an over and the flush draw

However he misses and departs 27th

26th gets zero

25th up £3310

Most active table is that with Prester, Loesser and Kennedy

just now Loesser bet 24,000 into 35,000 on the river of a  8s 4d 6h Qh 2h board after big blind Prested had checked

Prested passes with difficulty and is shown  Kh 7h, which was the pre-flop raising hand from the hijack

The shortest stacks are Max Winberg, Kev Parkes, Jamie Roberts, Jon Young, Darren Annis

Of course anything can happen, but those are the stacks that look committed if they enter a pot

the blinds go up now to 2000-4000/400

One of the short stacks, name withheld to protect his desperation, just came over to Dena and insisted that the clock should be paused before the blinds go up

"we've been playing for two days, the blinds should be stopped"

He received short shrift from the tousle haired TD with the temptress looks

Of course, this was within earshot of the table. Perhaps the odd raise on his big blind might be in order....

On a board of

9s  8h Jh Anthony Kennedy in the big blind checks, Pre flop raiser Jon Prested checks and caller Greg Haik checks

Turn  6d

Kennedy leads for 15,000 into 22,000

Prested calls

Haik bumps it to 50,000 with 120,000 behind

Kennedy looks sick, and eventually folds.

he insists  6h 6c after Prested folded

"I'm convinced that was a good fold" he tells the table

45 minutes and counting on this bubble so far. Perhaps 10 hands in this time hand for hand

Interestingly the medium stacks sitting inert and hoping that someone will do their dirty work for them are getting dragged into this

blinds 2000-4000 so for the 10 or so stacks sub 80,000 its clenched posterior time

Amongst the big stacks, where most of the few flops are being see the chip leaders are, in no particular order

Kimber

Mahrenholz

Prested

Kennedy

Loesser

Rudling

Spyrou

Amazingly 70 minutes plus into the bubble

Only seen one short stack all in confrontation and he doubled

Of course as the shorties cling on the active Kimber, Karl, Banzi and the others are making hay

Jon Spinks is also right slap bang in the mix. Anyone would think he'd played bubble periods before.

We have a scheduled break in 7 minutes, and chip counts will follow then

blinds next hit 3000-6000/500. That will be crunch time

I join the action with the flop reading

 5d Jd 3c

Loeser in the big blind checks, Prested bets 13,000, from the cut off

Turn  Ac

Loeser checks, Prested 22,000 called

River  2c

Loeser checks, Prested overbet 115,000 into a really wet board

Loeser considers. He is the only player on the table who covers Prested, counts out the call and folds

These two are battling for the chip lead ahead of Karl, Praz, Spyrou, Rudling, Spinks and Kimber

Rough chip stacks for the final 17

Roberts 120

Lindsay 190

Prested 380

Haik 90

Durnsford 160

Loeser 380

Spinks 200

Rideout 160

other table

Kimber 150

Wong 80

Mahrenholz 320

De Weert 130

Kyriacou 200

Spyrou 180

Rudling 500

Fratelli 150

Banzi 260

and as I write that Durnsford raises the button, Spinks shoves the big blind, Durnsford makes a heck of a call with 88. Spinks 77

88 holds and Spinks becomes the shortstack with 80,000

Kyriacou the player moved across to balance the tables

that is a good move for him

the other table is nightmare tough, in my partially informed opinion

Ken Wong open shoves 90,000 or so from the small blind

Karl Mahrenholz snap calls in the big with A4 suited

Wong JJ

A 3-4-Q flop means it hasn't yet gone Wrong for Wong.

K turn, Q river and Wong doubles up

Praz Banzi knocks out Caroline De Weert 15th

All in pre

Caroline  Ad Qh

Praz  Aspades Jd

board comes  Qs high, and Praz hits four spades to eliminate the vistior from the Netherlands

Praz up to 450,000 or so. Not that he knows what to do with a big stack of course....

Marco Fratelli out 14th

It all goes in on the turn of a 9-K-5-9 board

Fratelli with QQ has been done by Rudling with KQ

Rudling reasserts his chip lead

Money jump now to £4,590 for 13th up

wayne rideout of Team Sky Poker raises the cut off, Jamie Roberts 3 bets the button

Wayne 4 bet shoves A-Q having raise folded twice before that orbit

Roberts snaps with Aces and flops the case Ace for good measure to knock Wayne Rideout out 13th

Andros Spyrou pushes 9-9

Banzi finds JJ behind calls and flops top set

Banzi up to 600,000 and challenging for the chip lead

Spyrou out 12th

Title: Re: GUKPT London Day 2

Jamie Roberts opens for for 16,500

Gary Lindsay 41,000

Prested 4 bet shoves with A-J

Roberts passes

Lindsay snaps with AA

Aces hold, Lindsay had 320,000

Prested had 320,000, strangely

So Prested is out 11th and Lindsay has had a remarkable recovery from 4x bb two hours ago to 660,000 now

Hand for Hand here so things have understandably slowed down again

£4590 for 10th

£5510 and up for 9th onwards

Jeff Kimber has 70,000 or so at 4-8k

Chip leaders Rudling, Lindsay, Banzi, Loeser in that order

Mahrenholz, Roberts, Kyriacou, Durnsford and Wong round out the field, in that chip count order

Meanwhile Karl and Praz are set to reprise the first ever GUKPT event in Bolton in 2007, when they finished 1st and 2nd

Jamie Roberts being railed by his proud Dad Ben

Chris Kyriacou talking non stop, nothing new there

Durnsford very quiet and understated. Tight and conservative

Lindsay being railed by a girlfriend with bright red hair and the strongest Glasgow accent since Rab C Nesbitt was on telly

Wong is ebullient. A lively character

Rudling polite and consistent. Not seen him around for a while, but was a consistent UK circuit winner in 07 and 08

Tomorrow's final should be awesome, but who will miss out?

Stay tuned

Gary Lindsay won his way into this in Wednesday's £250 live sat. Travelled down especially for that and then a few days in London if he didn't win his seat

Normally an online player on Ladbrokes, no previous live form to speak of.

I will stop pestering his girlfriend for info now

So, not much news

Kimber and Roberts, one on each table, under 100,000 and sub 10x bb

No flops, push and fold

Presumably waiting for a couple of hands to collide

Gary Lindsay is a celtic fan

By tomorrow I will know his inside leg measurement, Cashpoint PIN number and Shoe size.

One step at a time though

Excellent solo update again tighty, fun to read what was going on and remember when I had chips! Me and spinks musta raised 99% of hands in that near 2 hour bubble period yet don't think either of us made a profit, win two uncontested, lose the one we get action on. Ran pair into overpair three times in 20 mins when all the shortstacks were goin mental when the bubble burst, think (hope) I made a good fold of jacks to Rudling's 3b and c-b on a 10-high flop. He showed one queen, said they were both the same, will never know.

Abolsute grind once I moved to praz n karl's table, just managed to shove once a round to stay afloat, hopefully will find a hand in the first couple of orbits tomoro....or outdraw someone.

Tx to the well wishers, gonna be a great final tomoro...hope I have some involvement :)
