Title: Ethics of this spot?
Post by: outragous76 on March 23, 2011, 02:39:00 PM
Ive never seen this hand before so sorry if its v old

But it does bring into question the ethics of such a play/result. As far as I am concerned, when you say those magical words "all in", that is what is should mean. With the hand I have, and the money sat in front of me - im prepared to go all the way! The reason I bring up the ethics is what about Sammy Farhas money in the pot. I have no problem with running twice (i guess they would go 3 times in this pot), but I am very uncomfortable with the end result of this hand. Im sure Guy Laliberte was just being "nice" as the money to him was a drop in the ocean, but i still dont like it much

dont like it, he made the bet, make him stand by it. Give it to charity whatever but take it. Is he gonna let em all of every pot he wins? No point him even being at table

Given that Guy must be the value in that game its a terrible decision for all the other players.

The pros are all sharks trying to feed off guy, hence he should never give David an escape in this situation.

Do you imagine David would have just taken the pot if the hands were reversed?

wasn't there a hsp pot between durrrr and barryg where barry says "we can take $200k back..." and durrrr declines

think its probably quite common place when they play really high

I think durr asked to run it more than once but barry refused saying that he only wanted it once

then barry asked to take some money back durr snap refuses

i would rather see all this bollocks cut out myself. you see kids in the 50p/£1 games thinking they are sammi farhaha wanting to run it x etc. it all filters down to the donkies. even seen guys trying to run it twice in tournies and split the pots.

meh its their money they can do whatever the f they want with it imo. saying "oh it filters down to the low stakes games" is irrelevant, its not diving in football we're talking about here.

I like  diving in football coz it makes soccer am more fun. Had it again tonight in Sheffield two mates wanting to chop the pot. Makes my shit itch when they wanna do something coz they seen em do it on high stakes poker

+1

In the live games i play in we do stuff like this all the time, take % back in flips, running it twice etc, one awesome hand between two guys in leeds once where they get it in  Js Jh vs  Ahrt Qh on a low 2 red board they say "wanna put another grand in each" and they each put another £1k each in the pot lol

if the dealer knows what he is doing it doesn't hold it up and makes no difference to anyone. id much rather run it twice in a flip then once, but dont really care either way, tilts me when people get tilted by it actually lol

as for benyamine vs guy, just further illustrates how guy doesn't care about the $ at all and benyamien faced with a choice of loosing 40k 100% of the time or $625k 65% of the time makes a pretty shrewd choice regardless of his net worth.

If I am DB I 100% take whatever Guy offers me.  If I am Guy, regardless of my networth I am never letting the pros off so lightly.   Punish them.

Nothis was wen pokerstars paid for my wedding and whole family to go to Vegas in 2009. Was my only ever time as super nova and my mate came along and day 1a drew seat 9 on table 1 and got his buy in back just for wearing a doyles room hat on the tv table. It was his first ever live game and he folded kings pre flop and managed to get a third of alan cunninghams stack I
In one hand. Am off to spain this weekend with the chilipoker guys who ran that Marrakech thing. Being a bit more experienced in playing French and spanish I hope to go one better than last time. I really am that good. Lol
