Title: receeding hairlines
Post by: paulhouk03 on March 24, 2011, 09:38:49 PM
I am getting increasingly worried about my hairline

Is there any one who uses special shampoo or rub random stuff on their hair to encourage hair growth?

Or is it just doom and gloom??

LOL.

Pretty sure that regaine stuff works a bit, but as soon as you stop using it your hair falls out anyway. Accept what's coming to you imo, its no big deal.

It really doesn't matter

Accepting what comes naturally far more attractive than vanity imo

Yeah Paul, I've noticed that your hair is receding, it looks horrible. Better do something about it fast.

Have you considered staying indoors?

This

I used to spend a fortune on products/haircuts when I was younger trying to draw attention away from my face ldo. Fell asleep round a mates after a night out about 8 years agoand ended up  getting the middle of my head shaved so I looked like Willie Thorne :D

Obv I had to shave it completely and it was noticeably thinner when it grew back around the fringe. I was a bit tilted at first but straight away just got the clippers on the go for a grade 0 all over. Soon get used to it though, save a fortune on haircuts gel etc.  You also don't have to worry about it getting messed up when you're out and it's raining :)

Couple mates of mine now are on the regaine plus other stuff...

'What you think, is it working?'

'Yeah mate looks ace' (sure does)

fk that and just take what's coming imo shit happens and it's hardly a big deal in the grand scheme of things

Just let it happen.  No disaster.  I lost mine when I was in my mid twenties and it never really bothered me although I have always been an ugly bastard so not like all of a sudden I lost my appeal to the other sex but as many women like bald blokes as find it repulsive although it seems like Claw is in the latter category so you might have to cross her off your list.

Is there any relation to baldness and genes?

Yes, usually inherited from your mother's male relatives. Basically, look at your mothers brothers and father and you'll get a good idea of what will happen to your Barnet.

Boom if true.

My dad is bald and so was his father but my mum's side (4 brothers) all got full head of hair.

I did hear this was nonsense though. Any science behind it?

From wikipedia (a better source than many give it credit for, due it's in-built peer-review process):

Quote from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baldness#Society_and_culture
""You inherit baldness from your mother's father."

Previously, early baldness of the androgenic type was thought to be sex linked dominant in males and to be sex linked recessive in females.
Research suggests that the gene for the androgen receptor, which is significant in determining probability for hair loss, is located on the X chromosome and so is always inherited from the mother's side.  There is a 50% chance that a person shares the same X chromosome as his maternal grandfather. Because women have two X chromosomes, they will have two copies of the androgen receptor gene while men only have one. However, research has also shown that a person with a balding father also has a significantly greater chance of experiencing hair loss.

My Mum's dad had plenty of hair.  My Dad doesn't.  Me and my brothers take after my Dad on this one...

lol the same section also has this

"Frequent ejaculation causes baldness"

There are many misconceptions about what can help prevent hairloss, one of these being that frequent ejaculation may have an influence on MPB. Depending on frequency, it can raise or lower plasma testosterone.

All my mum's brothers and her father have full heads of hair whereas my dad and his dad both lost their hair. I didn't wait until mid/late 30s like them though it just jogged on early 20s...

I thought it might have been wearing a beret/cap a lot for the 4 years I was in the navy as your head sweats a lot. I just stopped worry though and shaved it up.

Good decision Mr Ho and saves a lot of time when you're getting ready for a night out :D

Don't worry it's a sign of virility (I tend to believe everyone who tells me this)
