Title: ruling
Post by: George2Loose on March 26, 2011, 05:52:07 PM
Limped pot at first level. Utg and two blinds.150 chips in pot.

Checked to river. Board irrelevant. Sb says "2" and accidentally throws in a 5k chip instead of 500. Utg clarifies if the bet is 200 or 2000. Sb says 200. Utg calls for ruling which should be?

Common sense dictates - clearly 200

One round penalty for being a prick.

Even if it his BB next hand.

This came up last time i played at dtd, guy throws a 5k chips into a 7k pot and says "four" ruling was that his bet stands at 400. So im guess as the big blind is less than 200 the bet was made to stand at 200 ?

OP is utg imo. +1 to Longines- G2L shouldve had 1round penalty.

Common sense > all.

200 is the bet. Dealer should automatically call it as 200 imo, then player can correct if it was meant to be 2k

Why does utg seek clarification from sb only to call for a ruling when clarification is given. The ruling should be utg must leave the casino in silence with his head down while everyone stares.

TD simply asks "what did you intend the bet to be?" "200" "Okay, the bet is 200". Then he walks away wondering why players are wasting his time.

similar one when we played a gukpt or ukipt, can't remember where, blinds just gone up from 200-400 to 300-600 the hand before, UTG raises, says something like 'make it 11', as 1100's not possible, should it be 11k (he had like 25k). Not quite sure what his wording was, he mighta just said '11', or even 'raise to 11'....what's the right ruling in either/all cases? Does it matter if he's put in 1100/1500 something like that while saying it?

Completely the dealers job imo. If he cant either a. distinguish that a player means 200 into a pot of 150 and not 2000, or b. ask a player what the bet is, then he needs retraining in life skills
