So how do you define it?

Positive short term variance and confidence.

Lack of confidence, which affects your play, definitely defines poor form as you don't put yourself in the necessary situations

form is the most ill-used term in poker. 'Veterans' define form as someone who wins coinflips, won the last flip, or someone who is lucky. This is nonsense, in as much as Alan Shearer was lucky to be in the right place at the right time to score more goals than anyone else. Form in poker is taken to mean running well, where in reality it should mean the same as it does in every other usage....If sam trickett is 'in form' u might have seen him winning flips, but really, he is playing at the top of his abilities, reading opponents well, laying down when he should, raising when he should etc etc, just as much as an in form footballer takes all the chances presented to him. In reality, an in form player gets the right reads, puts his chips in when he should and folds when he should, and basically makes 100% from the chances presented to them

i disagree, its not like alan shearer thing at all. if someone is raising lots and everyone behind him constantly has 27o then thats running good (or "in form") just as much as getting AAvs KK a lot or winning a lot of flips. There's so many things that most players dont count as variance such as this. e.g. you're bluffs constantly running into monsters, or you're opponents never having big hands when you flop a set etc. thats all part of running good/bad. form is just the old school term for it.

That is form alex. But class is being able to know that your opponent has a monster before you bluff, letting him bluff at you when he has a set and noticing that he is shaking like a shitting dog when he 3 bets with AA thinking he is getting paid. This is when to give up KK. Form is temporary. It is class that is permanent. P.s. Listen to uncle jeff. He has been winning in the game donkeys years too.

You're not grasping the analogy. Poker players use the word form to mean luck, whereas form by its proper definition means playing to the best of your abilities. Therefore if u raise a lot and everyone folds because they have nothing that is a form of luck (if you're raising for no other reason then u have a strong right arm) and is said to be a sign of being in form, whereas the true meaning of the phrase in form could see u raise, get reraised, pick up on strenth and fold, notice the guy has done this too much and 4bet, remember previous hands and make the right decision that way....ie play to the best of your abilities as your'e in form, playing well and making good decisions based on the information available.

Alan Shearer might score 30 goals a season by being given 300 chances, 5 going in off his arse when he's missed his kick, 10 penalties that he didn't win, just converted....he might not be in form but he's getting along....but if he gets in the right spot to create his own chances, converts 3 of the 4 chances he's presented with in a game, creates something from nothing, forces mistakes from defenders, then he's bang in form
