Title: Check behind or value shove? Post by: cambridgealex on April 12, 2011, 11:45:29 PM was c/r cbets a pretty high frequency. I often folded though so don't really have any info on how he plays turns. What's my line like here? On the river the pot is 36 we have 31 behind.

Title: Re: Check behind or value shove? Post by: pleno1 on April 14, 2011, 10:51:28 AM I just realised you called flop? I think its a fold. If you are going to call I prob prefer c/back

If you are going to call I prob prefer c/back Got to agree with The Best in The Business on this. I was all for value betting as well right up to the point where we find out oppo has 2 purrs. Title: Re: Check behind or value shove? Post by: pleno1 on April 14, 2011, 12:28:38 PM lol i thought flop went b/c and we picked up 9 on turn and barreled.
Title: Re: Check behind or value shove? Post by: DMorgan on April 14, 2011, 12:46:31 PM Definitely fold the flop. If he's c/ring a lot of flops you can def be calling lighter and/or 4balling but I don't think that we have enough quite enough equity to be just calling this flop and if we c/r he's sticking it in our eye with pretty much 100% of his value range and on this board thats a tooooon of combos
You'll get better spots than this to be playing back Title: Re: Check behind or value shove? Post by: cambridgealex on April 14, 2011, 01:11:15 PM Definitely fold the flop. Title: Re: Check behind or value shove? Post by: WotRTheChances on April 16, 2011, 12:54:01 PM Agree with folding the flop, although depends on the dynamic of the game and stack sizes. Would make this play sometimes with 80+ stacks. I'm also check behind the river, before I saw the results I was thinking a low 2-pair is a likely holding here if his line is correct. It seems to me that he wakes up with 2-pair here far more than he finds a call with a worse 9 or tries to be a hero with A5 or 34 or something. These are the kind of spots at 50NL where opps are nearly always showing face-up their exact strength at every point in the hand, you wont find many 50NL players balancing their ranges or taking unorthodox lines. You can see this guys thought patterns reflected exactly in the way he's bet this board. A lot of 50NL players won't bet the turn with less than 2-pair unless the've caught the 9 or have some kind of pair/draw/combo, so really his range here for paying you off/folding better is small. You'll quickly pick up on these kind of spots and get a quick feeling for when thin-ish shoves can be profitable.
