Post by: iwillwinlots on April 14, 2011, 12:52:36 AM fold pre as played... bet flop... bet turn...bet river and fold to a raise Title: Re: Easy fold right? Post by: pleno1 on April 14, 2011, 01:12:27 AM Youre playing 36/19 over 4k hands?
Also buy in full (100bbs) with this stack/situ just fold pre. I disagree with Dom about betting flop, c/r is much better as our value range is smaller and we will induce 3bets, light call downs and floats. Title: Re: Easy fold right? I am yes...I know it's high but with it being 6max only...I have to play a wider range of hands I think. I did start full stacked but lost a few small pots. I played like a typical donk greedy player instead of betting the flop, I tried to get clever and then he checked behind. Why cant he had QQ/JJ? 44 is another possibly. Title: Re: Easy fold right? Post by: outragous76 on April 14, 2011, 11:22:46 PM He never checks behind on the flop
Title: Re: Easy fold right? Post by: SuuPRlim on April 15, 2011, 01:16:12 PM I think his range here is almost EXCLUSIVELY flushes/bluffs imo, I agree he rarely chks QQ/JJ behind or a 7 for that matter (44 is the most legitimate house he can have imo)
his river shove is pretty bizarre and I'm too tired to crunch the numbers but you have to be winning a pretty high % to make this call anywhere near the money an i'll be pretty confident you're not lol 36/19/9 is far too loose imo for these stakes (i dont play nl online but have a lot of experience and 100plo) and I think at these stakes you really have to cut a lot of the preflop calls out, pretty generally tend to play tighter (like 20-30%vpip's) and regardless of your post flop edge you are putting yourself in tough spots because your range is just weaker than theirs a lot of the time. The best way to exploit people at these stakes is to have a stronger range in most spots and force people into bad calls/folds, you are in danger of that urself playing too many hands passivley cut the Vpip to ~25% imo Title: Re: Easy fold right? Post by: Bully87 on April 15, 2011, 05:08:16 PM Even at 6 max tables? Thing is I dont play absolute "garbage" like K4o or anything. I also think with my loose style, my opponent can put me on bluffs, draws more often then when I do have the nuts I'll get paid off.
I understand the thinking behind lowering the VPIP but I just think if I cut out some looser calls it'll affect my table image and then I can't get paid on good hands and I'll be giving away more blinds. I guess you could also argue that a tighter table image means I can run more bluffs but then surely my range is more polarised? Title: Re: Easy fold right? I guess you could also argue that a tighter table image means I can run more bluffs but then surely my range is more polarised? This is far too complex a subject to explain on here sigh, but basically a loose style DOES NOT equal playing lots of starting hands, what you need to get paid on big hands and be able to get bluffs through is a well built, balanced range. A Range needs to be constructed and it starts with your VPIP (what hands you're playing) your PFR (what hands you're raising) and then a collection of your style in certain spots. If you are well balanced, and can legitimately rep premium/marginal/bluffs in most spots it makes big calls/big folds very hard to profitable form your opponents and often is a slight guessing game. If instead you just pay more hands, therefore people think you're looser and pay you off/you get into lots more spots to bluff, all you are doing is playing vs people who have started with stronger hands than you and it's hard to make money that way. Title: Re: Easy fold right? Post by: Bully87 on April 16, 2011, 11:48:44 AM I have a range and do stick to it mostly, I just widen/tighten it depending on position...6d 7d looks good for a raise to me from the btn in an unraised pot but less so from EP or if there has been a raise...so in that sense I'm not playing to get people to think I'm looser and rep that image. But I understand that I'm not the only one with a HUD and the same stats I have on them are available on me which means it makes it harder for opponents to put me on hands pre and post flop.
My thinking may well be complete rubbish but in 6 max I think I need to be playing a wider range and making the most of position even with marginal hands. Title: Re: Easy fold right? Post by: SuuPRlim on April 16, 2011, 01:21:45 PM yh i agree we should be widening our range from LP in 6max games, but if you play too many hands you'll struggle to make a lot of them profitable imo
I dont profess to be much of a NLHE player but I think you'll show an improvement in ur winrate if you close ur VPIP/PFR ratio a little bit, to somewhere like 70-75% in the last 50k hands i've played of 100 or200plo Im playing 24/19/10 and Im considered pretty spazzy by a lot of the regs in those games, you can still play v aggressive, but just with slightly better hands |
