($8 1r 1a on Stars) Post by: Ironside on April 14, 2011, 07:03:37 PM you got all his chips so you have to say you played it well
i would normally lead flop and turn rather than calling 3 streets Title: Re: Did I play this well or stupidly? ($8 1r 1a on Stars) Post by: mondatoo on April 14, 2011, 07:14:50 PM Don't 3x it with ante's, make it around 3400. Cbet flop, c/f turn, c/f river.
Title: Re: Did I play this well or stupidly? ($8 1r 1a on Stars) Post by: redarmi on April 14, 2011, 11:22:31 PM This is really a situation which is very player specific and against a "hyper aggressive" player then I don't mind the way you have played it but if I am getting much chips in with 77 on this board on the river I want to be the aggressor generally because you might get some tens and better pairs to fold. The way you have played it you are really hoping he has a worse pair or suited connectors that he has triple barrelled. Presumably given he is massively aggressive he also triple barrels all of his big aces, some of his queens and all of his tens as well as all of his pairs. In that case by the river you are kinda putting your chips in with a prayer. Are the bluffs and worse pairs really that big a part of his range?? By the river it is probably close but I am tempted to fold on the turn tbh. All that said, in a vacuum, you won so.....

($8 1r 1a on Stars) Post by: SchmidtSting on April 15, 2011, 05:52:27 PM lol thnx for the replies, he played a hand kind of similar earlier in the game. so was more hero-calling, his bet looked more to try and get me off a semi-decent hand.
I posted because analysing my hands, although i won this won, i think i should still fold this turn 8-9 / 10 times. ty SS Title: Re: Did I play this well or stupidly? Surely this is just a question of style? no, its actually a proven leak to 3x with antes. if we open to a smaller amount, it means we can open more (our opens need to get through less to show profit), we can keep the stacks deeper for post flop play (i,e we lose less for un-successful c-bets and we can pot control/play with a higher edge post) when we get 3bet and fold we lose less, and we can c-bet cheaper on flops and need a much lower success rate to show a profit You burn a significant amount of chip equity 3x'ing in comparison to a smaller open |
