Title: Football League points questions Post by: pokerfan on April 25, 2011, 05:29:02 PM Does anyone know what the highest point total for a team that didn`t gain automatic promotion is ?
Also what is the lowest point total a team won auto promotion with ? Title: Re: Football League points questions Post by: Longy on April 25, 2011, 05:37:55 PM Sunderland in 97/98 got a lot of points and finished 3rd in the 2nd flight.
Hull in 06/07 didn't get many and were promoted. Will go and look for a exact totals. Title: Re: Football League points questions Post by: Longines on April 25, 2011, 05:39:12 PM http://www.footballforums.net/forums/showthread.php/271690-Championship-Run-in-Ladder

Longy's right and that other forum is wrong though. Sunderland got 90 points in 97/98 and didn't get auto promotion. Title: Re: Football League points questions Post by: Longy on April 25, 2011, 05:49:00 PM Sunderland got 90 in 97/98, so the above link is wrong.
It was stoke not Hull I was thinking of and they got 79 in 07/08. Title: Re: Football League points questions Post by: pokerfan on April 25, 2011, 05:53:56 PM Tks, thought we might be on for a record, reckon we finish on 87.

They could beat it this year; currently in the last automatic spot with 74 points and 2 games to go. As for Lambert, well I am pretty sure whenever a mid table premiership lets their manager go there will be a lot of nervous ppl in Norfolk. Aston Villa springs to mind at the moment with Houlliers health. Just hoping that a number of football chairman don't think Lambert is as good as I do!
