All new £300 Deepstack from June!

The monthly £300 Deepstack is Dusk Till Dawn's Signature Event, and has established itself as the best medium buy-in monthly event in the country
300 DeepstackUsually held on the first weekend of the month, this official European Ranking Event regularly attracts over 300 players from across the country, and often Europe.

To maintain the prestige, appeal and interest in the event, we’ve decided to make a few changes, and give our number 1 monthly tournament a bit of a facelift!

£300 Deepstack Festival, from June:

Extra Day 1

Day 1a will take place on the Friday, Day 1b on the Saturday, followed by Day 2 on the Sunday. Having an extra Day 1 offers players more choice and flexibility, and caters for those who would previously have been unable to attend due to other commitments on the Saturday.

RE-ENTRY

Showcasing at the June £300 Deepstack, our new RE-ENTRY system allows players that have been knocked out of the tournament to buy back in for the same price, and take another shot at the prizepool, adding to it as they do so! For the £300 Deepstack, only players from Day 1a will have the option to re-enter. This must be done into Day 1b, the following day. For the Incredible 100 on the Sunday, all players have the option to re-enter provided they can do so before the end of late registration (level 6 / 5:15pm). Players who RE-ENTER will lose 1 small and 1 big blind per level, plus 1 round of antes if they enter in level 5 or 6.

£100,000 GTD

Inevitably, bigger guarantees attract more players. We're hoping that through a combination of a higher guarantee and a RE-ENTRY option, we’ll attract more buy-ins and smash the guarantee every month. The biggest £300 Deepstack prizepool was £137,700, won by Paul Bowser in November last year. If just 5% of those players re-entered, that would have been an additional £13,500 in the pot! Multiple satellite winners can use their winning seats for buy-ins and re-entry.

LATE REGISTRATION

Players will be able to register up until the 6th level on both Friday (Day 1a) and Saturday (Day 1b) which will be 9:30pm. Late registrations will lose 1 small blind and 1 big blind per level, plus 1 round of antes if entered in level 5 or 6.

Not sure on these changes. If it ain't broke- don't fix it. Think moving to two day 1's is a mistake. I like the atmos of 300 odd players on the Sat. Can't see the Friday being too popular

Rubbish decision imo. I wouldn't play the friday, knowing that i may have to go back on the sunday. And obviously wouldn't re-enter. Would be good for some people though.

Can see this going really deep on Sunday now. 2 day 1's plus 6 levels late reg plus re-entries? Obv depends on runners but the days of midnight finishes on the Sunday just died I think...

I imagine most will just play the Saturday. Can't imagine the Friday being too busy. There's a few who might like to play the first day then re-enter but for most I reckon it'll be just the same and a bigger guarantee.

Agreed - why criticise for trying something new and different that might improve it. Let's wait and see, it could be great.  The only thing that might work against it are the summer months tend to be quieter on the UK live poker scene.

Also, hasn't the last few struggled for numbers ? Makes sense there trying to reinvigorate interest in there biggest event of the month.

i don't see why they dont do re entries for on the day as well, would make the whales play redic loose and make the game much more lively early on, meaning more value for those playing tight. Also would a third re-entry be allowed?

If you satty in twice are you allowed to use both chances for the same event?

hmm i guess, but this would be more a second chance sort of rebuy so in essence a re-entry as you have to lose all of your chips to get a new stack. That would actually play much looser than a rebuy tourn as those with half stacks would be looking just to shove and double or get out and make a re-entry so to speak.

Usually at this time of year we drop the guarantee to £60,000 and still get approx 280 runners but for the last few months it has become obvious that the success of our event is being reduced by the flattery of duplication and other events clashing which has led to repeated overlays. Our choice is to just accept this and reduce the guarantee over summer or come up with a revised structure that prevents overlays, encourages travelling players especially the bigger bankroll willing to take a punt and make a weekend of it, improve the value for all the single bullet players and increases the size of the fields resulting in a must play event and we hope this new format will do that.

I hope what every poker player appreciates is that we take on challenges and risk guarantees no one else would. I expect the majority will play Saturday but that Friday will become more popular as the word spreads.
From an updating point of view you could pick up the event from Saturday onwards and keep your readers happy.

The Friday is not meant for you, it is for players that either can't make it Saturdays and that is all that has stopped them playing previously, also for deeper pockets that travel to the club, take a bad beat early on and are happy to re enter for a sceond chance. The higher the buy in at Dusk Till Dawn the further players travel, currently 85% of the field come from further than 40 miles away. However, imagine you have a function to go to on Saturday but would normally play the Deepstack, well now you can and if you make day 2 and have a shot at £30,000+ i am sure you won't mind coming back.

If we get 334 players over the 2 day 1's the comp will still finish between 12 and 1, even with 500 it would be finished by 3.30am, earlier if there is a deal.

I've learnt not to argue with you over structure timings, you never get it wrong so as an updater this makes me feel a little better!

Will you be sticking to the 5pm starting time for all of these events Simon as Sunday especially could last a fair bit longer than previously?

I seem to work EITHER every Saturday or Sunday, so I've not been available to play a DTD £300 more than about once per year for the last few years. Now, as I rarely work Fridays, & not more than 1 or 2 Sundays per month, I'll be able to play this much more frequently.

Shocking decision, this could cost me £££'s per year.

Good luck with it, it's good to try & innovate, but few people seem to embrace change with much enthusiasm. Until they try it.

I assume a re-entry involves getting up from the table you are at, going to the cash desk and paying a full buyin+reg, followed by being sat where a new player would be sat?

To me I'm not entirely sure how useful having two day 1s is. But I don't see how it really hurts. And the bigger guarantee will attract people too.

I always laugh when people say "what time will it finish on Sunday"

If I was at a final table at 3-4am and walked away with 15bags+ then next day at work on no sleep would be an absolute breeze! Dreaming about spending the 15 bags!

It's when you finish at 2am with 800 quid that isnt so appealing

oh and good luck - i think the friday additional will see smaller starting fields (obv), but I would be very tempted to play friday rather than saturday!

I've been a serious doubter whenever DTD has taken big punts, especially with the grand prix. I expected that to crash and burn but they still sold it out so we'll see

Personally I like the re-entry element but 2 days seems like a bit of a stretch. Its definitely a big risk because as far as I know this will be the smallest monthly tournament in the country with two day 1s.

I guess we'll see if the smaller buyin and smaller prize pool (compared to UKIPTs and GUKPTs) will deter people from travelling and being in notts for 3 days rather than 2

I suspect that the end result will be that attendance will be largely the same but the re-entry element will bump up the prize pool a bit which makes the tournament even better value so wp DTD. Numbers on the Friday will obv be lower than the Saturday. Maybe I'm missing something but there doesn't seem to be a net negative effect for anyone

I dont see how this is really a problem. If you dont wanna play the friday then just turn up on the saturday like nothing has changed. If it bumps up the prizepool its good for everyone surely?

I dont know about the re entry in the £100 tho, as it effectivley making it a rebuy like Fran said.

We will see, DTD dont generally get much wrong tho.....

(except not changing the menu often enough for the fat regs who play every night  ;D )

I don't know about this. It's not a rebuy because you have to lose ALL of your starting stack before you can do a re entry, when conventionally you can just double rebuy from the start. The fact you have to lose the stack first is something i find quite interesting. Means the guys with deep pockets will probably eventually get their big stack but not before donating a hatful of chips in the process, whereas if it was an immediate double rebuy the guys with one bullet would really be in trouble.

I like the sound of this a lot and hope all works out. Possibly will be a logistical nightmare in the 100r though, when people want to re-enter.

The additional Day 1 interests me as someone who can't play the £300 for 7-8 months of the year on the Saturday.   If it's a 5pm start I can see it attracting a fair few players who'd like the option.

I'm very happy with that and can see no downside at all.

i 'm loving the idea of playing friday and if it all goes tits up getting another shot. its to my avdantage coz i can just win seats on line or buy in. but i can see the regular guy who works  a 5 day week see it being a disadvantage (just as multi entry on tilt gives the bigger rolled guys the advantage). i dont think this will stop any of em from playing. the best way for em to look at it is look at all the extra money that got put in yesterday. dtd is the best club in europe and i think anything they do should be encouraged and supported by the members here. think how you would feel if we did not have dtd or god forbid a casino chain took over. rob has given us something we should appreciate and you are never going to see anyone  honouring the gtd prizes for as long as dtd have. good luck to rob nick simon and the team

That I like immensely.

DTD can't do much wrong in my eyes, I support them through thick & thin such as time permits, but the WHOLE "special" thing about the monthly £300 for me was a 3pm or even 2pm start - THAT was what helped make it special. Almost a social event as much as a poker Tourney.

Anyway, hurray for the 2pm start on the Sundays, that ticks all my boxes. I wish it were this Sunday, in fact, as I could play this Sunday. I still will, probably, but I really don't much relish the 5pm starts. Just a personal thing, really, but I'd bet a £ to a pinch of shit that many feel the same.

I also much prefer the 2/3 start times. 5pm for me just feels so awkward as I can't commit to doing anything else for the day but have to sit around waiting until it's time to go to DTD.

+1 especially for those staying over in a hotel hanging around all day. the social side is the best bit. the couple of level between the breaks is often hard work

I can see the pros and cons of the earlier start.  A 5pm start allows people to fulfil other commitments on the Saturday (and now Friday) before the tournament starts (or get there a few levels in if necessary), but for others an earlier start means less waiting around.

I'd prefer 5pm on Friday for the 300 (if I satty in!) so looks like a good idea, means can fit football in from August onwards. Wouldn't re-enter though.

Love the two start dates /  re entry concept...In my opinion it will  add considerably to the prize pool and allow for some more creative/looser play.. especially on day one (Can you imagine what the table action will be like amongst  the  short stacks  with one/two levels to go on the Friday knowing they can re enter again the following day)

As regards the start time..Im a big advocate of The 2pm time because at 7/8pm you can potentially be chipped up or busto and if its the latter it will allow me/you to revist  a social engagement of old ( you remember before poker came along) A Friday/Saturday Night out with (non poker playing) friends....A welcome change at times Im sure you will all agree   :cheers:

Currently, yes. But may try for extra seats next week on. Can't play June as fly to Las Vegas on Day 2 (Not that I'll make Day 2 anyway) :)

Also, as a receational player I don't think I'd pump up prizepool even more for you sharks...

but if you have multiple seats for peanuts on your account you are gonna be more willing to just buy in again. it makes me want to play all the sats. this will take away most of the over lay in the sats now so has to be good long term for dtd. i aint stupid and love over lay as much as the next guy but like to see the bigger picture with dtd and in the long run what is good for dtd is good for me

the re-entry system has been used in newcastle since the start of the year in all 3 (aspers, stanley circus, G) and its been a really good thing for tournies up here. Pots have increased due to pretty much everyone busting early re-enterring. Its actualy not really like a normal re-buy, as if the player busts, they have to change their seat if they want to re-enter and its almost like a fresh start. (they also have to pay the REG fee again too) so in effect it is very similair to just buying in late to a tourney. I think surely this can only be a good thing for dtd, players who dont want to travel in fear of an early bust out now have a solution. More players = bigger pot = attracting even more players = bigger pot. People saying the finish time may be a bit too late - im sure DTD will be able to re-jig a few things IE start times/length of breaks if feel they need too.

first 50 only who qualified got a chip but dont know how many usually win a seat on line for the deepstack. i never tried for a seat till last week and the chips had all been won by then. did notice avillan and semtex won multiple seats tho so dont know if they get another chip to roll over to next event or if it went to later qualifiers or the chip was void.

I presume any golden chip held only counts for your first entry and not the subsequent entry (unless you have 2 golden chips)

I had an email saying you can only win one Golden Chip per event. Even if you won a second you can transfer the seat but not the chip also. My guess is it only works for the first entry but ya never know.

so a guy gets a 2nd chip he dont get it and it goes to 51st to qualify. the re entry on a friday is this just for the first 6 lavels or can you try spin up the last level safe in the knowledge you can get back in saturday

Ultimately, you don't know there are going to be any golden chips next time, they might change the promotion.

If the golden chips were allowed to be carried over for multiple winners of them - then that would encourage the winners of them to pre reg for the next two-three months whatever - the way it is now that there is no incentive to carry the seat over for the following months and you might as well have the cash in your account.

All sat winners live/on-line should recieve a golden chip and you should be able to carry them over - would make more sense - it would encourage me to play the friday with a golden chip knowing that if i bust out i got another seat i could use with a golden chip.

As regards the two starting days - fantastic idea although should be 3pm start time bearing in mind that you got 6 levels to buy in would make it around 7.30pm cut off to buy in and most people finish early on the Friday anyway.

Thanks for all the mostly positive comments, please keep them coming and tell everyone you know about this new format, it could turn our £300 Deepstack into a phenomenal monthly event.

I first saw this at xmas in Caesars and thought i was a great idea when a player on my table had his Aces cracked during the re entry period. In his case it was early on and his vacated seat was the only one available so he was reseated in it. It will work just like being a late registrant, once you get knocked out you go to cash desk re enter and get drawn to a new seat. If there are players already waiting you will be at the end of the line, we expect some players to get knocked out on the last hand of level 6 and they will still be allowed to re enter.

If you win more than one Deepstack satellite the second / third etc will be paid in cash to your account, you will then need to pay at the club for your day 1b entry.

Wasn't too sure about the Friday thing until something came up that I can't avoid on the Saturday.

You've got at least 1 extra entrant with the new concept. Hope it works out well.

There's now more than one, according to the flyer I saw on Sunday.

The main concern for me with this is that you are going to get all the good DTD players going to be in twice, but all the satellite qualifiers and Herbert's favourite, the idiot who has just got his salary, will only enter once. I think that this will toughen up fields even more than on FullTilt where a similar system operates.

If they're that good they'll make day 2 on the first attempt so they'll only be entering once.

Alternatively if they have a suitable bankroll they'll take a few risks to build a stack on Friday knowing they have a second shot on Saturday.

When they go gambling with weak hands towards the end of day 1a you just take their chips off them.

Friday should definitely be a much tougher field than Saturday. As I said though you'll also get a bit more gamble and not necessarily +EV moves from the people playing twice which will even it out. You just need to spot their less than optimal plays to take advantage.

i would defo play day 1a but this first one falls on my eldest sons 4th birthday party at cheeky chimps. this for me will be more of a draw than just playing at dtd with the usual chimps. :) 5h

I think this is a positive change in the format. After all what is wrong with trying to rejuvenate an event that gets a bit stale during the Summer months?

I will probably try and attend more of these now because of the extra added value.

Also with regards to start times. I tend to agree that 5pm feels a bit too late. But on the same token 12 is too early (we are poker players!) I think something in between like 3pm feels more comfortable.

it may not be a great sum to you sunny my friend but its real beans and is my major source of income. i have to give my wife/manager 50% but other than that i aint backed by anyone or ever in make up to anyone.  that money has to provide for my own house wife 3 toddlers and a stoner with all the expenses this entails. considering that it came off a minimal out lay i'm very impressed with it. people may think that Mr Channing backs me and i have to give 50% to Blackbelt but this is not the case. i wear the patches for Neil proudly as i like what he does for poker. the same reasons i wear a dtd top if i am ever caught without my hoodies on.......

i dont play on line cash or tourneys anymore. odd time my man ravy might play my accounts if he is bored but having 3 kids takes up my time. since 2009 i have only really played live twice a month as its all i can justify having so many family commitments etc.  i have a mate who has f/t sunday million ftops and scoops but was down £250k last year. he is a millionaire so it dont matter to him. he has one cash for £70k live but is down almost quarter mill in live buyins.. to be fair to him he has won seats into a couple of comps recently as he pointed out so live he is probably £160k down. i know how good i am and would have a last longer wager with any player in the donkaments i play.

I'm going to try again on Friday.  Decent number of runners last night, and think that with the buy-ins and fees DTD managed to break-even on the sat (minus wages, etc.).  The cash games were quite busy for a Wednesday night, with 8 tables on the go just after midnight.  I even managed to do a win, so that paid for my failed satellite attempt.

What time did it finish Danielle?
