The book by PearlJammer and Rizen.

Anybody read this? Is it any good and is it worth the money??

Same question for the other 2 books that follow in the series.

Personally never read them but have been told they are good. Actually looked to buy em myself but they seemed to be sold out unless you have a Kindle.

It's def worth a read, i really enjoyed the combined hands.

I've read the first two and thought they were really good.  Good to get their different approaches to the game, and think they're still very relevant now.

PearlJammer is terrible at poker if that helps?

Meanwhile on the othersite he is a sizeable loser and if it were not for the 500k+ bink on stars he would be a very marginal winner (dont forget OPR massive overreads because of rebuys)

hmmm I couldnt care less either way but I think its a bit suspect to remove a big cash - he might have got 4 outed 1/2 a dozen times for chip leads in other big comps for all you know.

If I'd never played poker on stars or fulltilt on a Sunday I'd have about 30k sitting somewhere, but I did and I don't, so a players record is what it is.  (of course you obv may well have perfectly sound reasons for thinking that someone is pish)

Not sure what reading any book towards the strategy of poker can do to help your game to be honest aside from the mental preparing beforehand and stabling yourself to be as free from tilt as possible

What are they going to say that is going to be so mind blowingingly unique that is worthy of buying their book or any other on how to play hands etc.

IMO play within your limits and play long hours as many hands as poss and try new things all the time and from that expereince try then to stick to what is most effective, that is the way to get better.

TBH was just basing it on playing with him and yeah you could say he is due a big result but 500k+ isn't big it is enormous.

Helps you see how others think and approach the game?  We all have different strategies and approaches, and it's even interesting to see how losing players approach the game to see where the flaws are in their game for you to exploit with other players who play the same way. 

I played a lot of chess when I was young, and would read books written by people who I thought approached the game completely arse-about-face - but I could still learn something from reading their thoughts.  I'm still of the opinion that reading a poker book can help your game, even if it's only slightly by making you consider a certain aspect of the game and maybe revisit your own thoughts on that element of the game.

I'm not a great player (ldo), so there's always something I can pick up from a book, forum, conversation that helps me improve my play. 

You should try the online training sites like Deuces cracked or Cardrunners. I got Deucescracked a few months back
and it has really given me food for thought. My game has improved a great deal in just the short time i have been a member.
That would be my recommendation. Also with the players in the US being banned prices have been slashed.

If you are determined to get a book it would depend on what you wanted to learn i would say.
Even though they are outdated i would highly recommend Harrington on cash or tournament.
He also has a more updated 6 max cash book out.

I also still enjoy reading Caro's book of tells and Phil Hellmuth Read 'em and reap for that side of the game.
