Title: making flavoured vodkas Post by: gatso on May 13, 2011, 04:35:21 PM I'm putting together a collection of flavours for glastonbury and need some suggestions for a few more. no subtle flavours as the whole point is to eliminate the need for lugging around mixers
on the go at the moment we have 1/2 bottles of skittles, glacier mints and strawberry maoam stripes when I can be arsed there'll also be a full bottle of cherry drops what else should I go for? thinking peardrops but after that I'm stuck for ideas Title: Re: making flavoured vodkas Post by: Dewi_cool on May 13, 2011, 04:37:01 PM blackjacks

Title: Re: making flavoured vodkas Post by: millidonk on May 13, 2011, 04:44:16 PM Maoam is a great idea, not so sure on Glacier mints though. Don't forget to take the green skittles out to get a decent colour.
Heard of xmas pudding flavour vodka but never tried it. Bit more of a ball ache to make though: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Christmas-Pudding-Flavoured-Vodka Those rhubard and custard sweets would go down real nice. Dangerous drink as they completely mask the alcohol. Also has the most bizarre colour and smell. It's pretty funny offering it to random people too - one person took one sniff and ran away as fast as they could.
Title: Re: making flavoured vodkas Post by: Josedinho on May 13, 2011, 04:57:54 PM Can you make it with any sweets like Fruit Salads and Drumsticks?

Don't forget to take the green skittles out to get a decent colour. I wasn't sure on the mints but have been told they work really well. green skittles were removed and eaten yesterday, that one's now a pretty cool orange colour if you're coming though Ped Gate C on Wednesday morning have a bottle handy for the stewards on ticket checking duties soz, will be PGA How do you go about doing this? Do you just steep the sweets in the vodka? yeah, pretty much all you need to do if you're using sweets. leave them for as long as poss then strain the bits out if necessary Can you make it with any sweets like Fruit Salads and Drumsticks? hope so as that's basically what the maoam stripes one is. looks like it's gonna def need straining as they don't dissolve too well, looking very cloudy but smelling great werthers sounds like a good idea, in fact all the sweets do, not so sure on fishermans friends though. Title: Re: making flavoured vodkas Post by: david3103 on May 16, 2011, 11:27:16 AM recipe for Star Anise vodka from the Telegraph
25 star anise 700ml (1ΒΌ pints) vodka (unflavoured) Place the star anise in a kilner jar and pour on the vodka. Seal, shake gently and leave for three days, turning twice a day. Strain, bottle and enjoy within four weeks. I'll be sticking to the usual routine of adding mixers I think - that and Greene King IPA which, as I discovered last year, tastes as good warm/hot as it does cold Title: Re: making flavoured vodkas Post by: Delboy on May 16, 2011, 07:21:04 PM .
