Title: darren bent
Post by: gatso on May 15, 2011, 05:37:32 PM
this afternoon he's made sure that he will again be the top english striker in the prem. his top flight record now reads

2005/6 top english scorer
2006/7 2nd top english scorer
2007/8 bad year at spurs
2008/9 2nd top english scorer (top striker as gerrard was 1st)
2009/10 2nd top english scorer
2010/11 top english scorer

that's ridic impressive. surely he's due a run in the england team now

Never gonna happen as england managers go with people for whom a lot of money has been paid or who play at big clubs.

But VWD mr Bent

Wait what?

Bent has been transferred for nearly £50m in his career.

His first goal today was terrific

Capello appears to prefer 1 up, and I don't regard Bent as "clever" enough to do that. When it was tried (v Brazil in Qatar) he looked a fish out of water

Good premiership goalscoer though, undeniably

Hasn't shown he's able to make the step up imo. Should be in squads but he has had chances in the past.

Very clinical finisher no doubt, but dosent quite cut the mustard at the highest level. His play apart from the goals seems to be lacking. Hence he's never got a real big move.

Yeah but just because he's been transferred a lot, doesn't make him a 50mill player.

the one player up front concerns me TBH. Don't see any reason why England should only play 1 player up front.

I think similar to Fowler he'll always score at a good/impressive rate in club football, but will never have that guile/real class to play 70+/score 30+ International goals.

Similar records though, whatever you think.  Plus Fowler failed miserable really with Eng, 7 goals.

Might have just seen why he can't be fully trusted.

Good premiership striker

Not quite good enough for the top top level

Simple as that really

obv should've scored today but the service to him was terribad. he spent all game making runs off the ball while parker, walcott and milner dicked around with the ball and failed to feed him. really disappointed in parker's performance to be honest

strange substitution at half time, wilshere and fat boy were the only 2 dangerous looking players on the pitch so taking one of them off was a bit puzzling

very impressed with baines, first time I've seen him play live, wins my MOM
