I listened to todays game on 5 live and they said a plane flew over the DW, a banner in tow.... Avram Grant - Millwall Legend!

He'll definitely land a cushty job in football somewhere. Might not be as a manager but a Pompey/Chelsea DOF role will be his within months.

I have alot of time for him, he seems a honourable person and has good values. That being said he was excellent at Chelsea and did a good job at Pompey under very restrictive finances,,he won them a cup FFs for Pompey that's huge. West Ham was doomed from the start, with the owners bringing in unfit players and being in the press more than the team. When it was leaked he was getting sacked in janurary again these had a huge negative effect on the team and stability, he was a dead man walking. Over the final few months of the season the owners kept saying how crap the players were etc. Why didn't they just stfu? It did no one any favours them blaming players. Finally the games I have seen west ham some of their so called stars have been shocking. Cole is an abs. Crap player, he has missed soany open goals this season it's unreal, so many individual  mistakes I'm crucial games nothing seemed to go right.  I hope he gets another job with a sound club and owners and given a real crack of the whip to show his skills.

fk that m8. Yeh he seems honourable etc etc blah fkin blah but if someone else was in charge of them bunch of tossers at WHU do you think we'd be rock bottom?

Its easy to say everyone is responsbile apart from Parker obv but its true imo. The board are wankers for appointing Avram, Avram is a terrible manager and the players are rubbish, simples. fkin gutted today :(

The championship is an amazing league, it is alot better in terms of entertainment and value for money. Get west ham back into winning games, pushing for promotion an I guarantee the fans will enjoy it alot more than just surviving in the premiership. I grew up with west ham in the 2nd tier pushing for promotion i can't wait for Leeds to play them next season

As uninspirational as Grant is, this West Ham team seems over rated. They deserved to go down. Players are poor. This fire sale everyone is talking about probably won't materlise cos their players are shite

Whoever was in charge this season was in trouble IMO. But this season for you is just the end result of 3-4 years of boom and bust and club ownership mis-management.

Battling relegation year in year out cant be that much fun.  For clubs like West Ham that are simply terrible wouldnt it be better to be in the Championship where you at least win a few games?

For excitement, players who care and atmosphere/banter between fans, everytime!

I would like Leeds to get back to the Prem so we can see "we told you we'd be back" and become a big force in English football again but theres a small part of me would be upset that we are leaving behind players who care, home grown players and loads of local  games/derbys.

I would probably argue you have more knowledge of other teams results, stats and past performance.  I would have more knowledge of what it is like to go to games, the songs that fans sing and what its like to support a team that is local to me caring about results no matter what league my team is in.

Doubt it. I don't class supporting a team anymore or less by what songs are sung.

I've had this argument many times before and am happy to have it again. My support of Man U may be for a number of reasons. It might be cos they're successful, it might be because I'm Indian and we all support Man U or liverpool don't we? Or it might be cos my family are from Manchester eh? Doubtful though.

Just because they're successful though doesn't mean you support your team more than I do.

This. Last yr the writing was on the wall but the yr b4 i think we finished 7th? Our best finish has been 5th. Were/we should be a top 10 team imo. At the very least top 14. About 12 teams in the league as always going be battling relegation until the last few games anyways such is the leage

Sorry George I can't help myself.  I like your avatar its v.nice.

I guess I just assume that Man Utd fans arent really proper supporters as I have been to old trafford more than every single Man Utd supporter I have met, excluding 2 irish lads I met at uni that used to travel across for games.

My limited personal experience has tarnished my opinion of Man Utd fans so I apologise for tarring you with the same brush.

Its getting expensive there now, have you had to reduce the amount of games you go to since the glazers took over?

Nope I haven't actually. Although it is tough for me to get tickets. You can probably appreciate (well you probably can't because I don't think u have any children) I have 4 kids and for some reason the mrs isn't keen on me making a round trip every weekend to watch Man U. Sorry if that isn't ok in your book.

However I was a season ticket holder for 3 years. Do I pass in your eyes now?

I know you used to have a season ticket you put it on the Man Utd thread where a similar debate took place.

anyway.  I think that going down isnt the end of the world, it might seem it but at the end of the day there are quite a few decent clubs in the championship and its refreshing playing in a league where every single decision isnt debated for days.

Championship is a great league especially if you go to games. While I am obviously happy we got promoted as I want my club to be as good as they can be, I probably won't enjoy going to games as much as I did unless we are suprisingly succesful.

Getting thrashed every week and paying £10-15 more for the privilege isn't all it is cracked to be.

Mate of mine who supports West Ham says he was chatting to David Sullivan today and apparently the name Mark Robins cropped up in terms of who they are looking at for new manager.

Would've thought they would be looking for a bigger name and hes not even in the betting but watch this space.

Maybe think about replacing the board first? The owners and Karen have no idea how to run a footieclub from what they've shown this season.
The way they handled everything this year, with regards to the manager anyways, is nothing short of remarkable.

As long as they stay at the club and manage it the way they do I think they'll struggle.

I can't see them going up next season and hope they have fun playing in a half empty Olympic stadium. (Which it should cost them approx 60mill to convert .+ a £40 mill loan from the treasury according to the Telegraph...Can't see that being anything other than a disaster.)

This piece might be good news (Though I can't for the life of me imagine why he would want to invest in WestHam after he lost out on buying it..must be a proper fan, I guess)

A "mate" of Avram (Avram with a paper bag on his head) has a go at the club in the Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/18/avram-grant-west-ham-gold-sullivan (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/18/avram-grant-west-ham-gold-sullivan).

always makes me lol when I see a newpaper "print" shit like this. Avram himself has kept quiet so they go to some anonymous "Close friend". They might as well just say that they made this shit up...it'd be just as credible as a source
