Title: Re: 88 utg line check please Post by: Doobs on May 20, 2011, 09:53:35 PM So tempted to say I bet you wish you raised with your AJ now.
I hate this spot. Check and see what he does and give up? He plays pretty small and this must be massive for him, is he ever getting tricky? Doesn't he put you on a flush draw and never fold his jack if you shove? Title: Re: 88 utg line check please Post by: toddswain on May 20, 2011, 10:12:42 PM Meh, really shitty spot, i just sigh check and hope to get to showdown (gl that happening) and fold when he bets turn
Title: Re: 88 utg line check please Post by: cambridgealex on May 21, 2011, 03:21:32 AM Yeh that's what I did. Didn't like it though
Title: Re: 88 utg line check please Post by: boldie on May 21, 2011, 05:07:09 AM Meh at the min raise UTG pre BTW...don't like that at all with pockets eights..
Title: Re: 88 utg line check please Post by: doubleup on May 21, 2011, 12:07:19 PM I might just have checked the flop. I doubt you are good as he called your cbet with a player to act behind with a reasonable stack. Title: Re: 88 utg line check please Post by: outragous76 on May 21, 2011, 12:50:33 PM I'd jam here
Title: Re: 88 utg line check please Post by: skolsuper on May 21, 2011, 02:58:40 PM fold pre?
Title: Re: 88 utg line check please Post by: cambridgealex on May 21, 2011, 02:59:48 PM Can't raise different amounts for different hands boldie...

pre is kinda sigh, I'd still open but not thrilled about it Title: Re: 88 utg line check please Post by: stato_1 on May 21, 2011, 09:22:09 PM Title: Re: 88 utg line check please Post by: Rupert on May 22, 2011, 01:21:25 AM i'd open pre don't think it's close in a $22 tourney where people will be straightforward postflop and either overly tight or overly loose preflop. i'd c/f this flop but I think it checks through a decent amount
Quote was really close to shoving, then really close to folding. wouldn't do either of them on the turn Title: Re: 88 utg line check please Post by: Rupert on May 22, 2011, 01:23:37 AM I think jamming the turns horrible btw, he basically has 55+, some jack, or some flush draw with likely two overs. Getting him to fold a FD is a decent result but he's never folding a jack and I don't think you get called by much worse here very often at all.
Title: Re: 88 utg line check please Post by: Rupert on May 22, 2011, 01:25:15 AM Quote Can't raise different amounts for different hands boldie... This definitely isn't strictly true but in 25bb poker i'd say it's a good rule to stick by unless there's some absolute drooler there. In a 100bb game, you sometimes find yourself with a huge idiot two to your left who plays 90% of hands. There is nothing wrong with 4xing strong hands and 2xing weak hands or some variation of this strategy. Title: Re: 88 utg line check please Post by: boldie on May 22, 2011, 09:03:46 AM Can't raise different amounts for different hands boldie... So you min raise from UTG with all hands that you raise with?...Not keen on that either TBH....I might just be too old school obv but when UTG I would definitely raise a bit bigger than I would in late position. Title: Re: 88 utg line check please Post by: muckthenuts on May 22, 2011, 11:02:33 AM Fold pre, not deep enough to open this.
