Hey guys, off to Vegas with the girlfriend at the end of June and just wondered if any of you had any good tips for shows to see, restaurants to visit, discounts available. I know we'll go to the Canyon for a day trip, any advice about this? Basically, I'm asking if you can help me to make the best of a week in Las Vegas with my partner.

Any Cirque d Soleils and Blue man group are my main choices.

In the back of most taxis there are booklets with all sorts of vouchers and that in them.

See one of the cirque's, prob O at the Bellagio.

Go to the Grand Luxe Cafe in Venetian too. Really nice and not expensive.

go up the eiffel tower at dusk  - watch vegas come "alight" and watch the bellagio fountains at night

The day trip to the Grand Canyon is good, but I wish I'd also done the night-time flight down the strip as well.  That'd be cool with your missus I reckon.

Do a helicopter trip to the canyon if you can afford it, a great experience.

Downtown is worth a night, they have quite a cool light show on the hour from 8pm.

+1 to cirque to soliel. Saw the Love one recently, I reckon O was a bit better.

+1 to grand Lux cafe, best food for the money I'be had in town.

Jersey Boys show was good, the lead singer has got a fantastic voice.

For a decent night on the beers with your missus go to new york, new york. Hit the Irish pub followed by the bar at times square which has 2 guys playing requests on a piano, its great fun and really gets swinging.

Matt Goss does a lounge show on Fri and Sat in Caesar's, reckon your missus would like it. Is one of the cheaper shows around too.

Just look ahead on ticketmaster now to see if the are any concerts on. I've been to some good ones including Bryan Adams, Spice Girls etc.........

Re the Canyon, do not to to the "West Rim" it is not really the GC ( although technically inside the national park ) it is really a place called the West Canyon which has been rebranded in something of a scam by tour companies and the Hualapai Indians, you need to go to the South Rim, you cannot fly to the GC from Vegas by helicopter though, also you cannot fly below thr rim or land at the bottom of the real GC

Re Cirque shows, for me Love is the best by some way , Absinthe at Caesers is getting great reviews though not seen it myself yet

For a good Steakhouse I would recommend Del Friscos ot at a lower budget the Circus Circus Steakhouse, a great restaurant at reasonable prices is Rosemary's though it is a bit of a cab ride

The Irish pub in New York New York is a good call.  Me and Stu went there for some Guinness, and it was good (and for the authentic feel it was priced as it is in Dublin!).  We had some food , and after the starter (and a few Guinnesses) we then struggled with the main course.  There was a wedding party in there, and it was all a bit surreal (or standard in Vegas I guess).  I can imagine it's a good craic when busy in the evening.

The Irish Pub mentioned is Nine Fine Irishmen, it is good but outside of happy hour very expensive $9 a pint iirc

Er.......I've been to both parts of the canyon you describe. The part the helicopter companies takes you to and down into offer a great experience and you won't know any different. I would choose to go there again rather than fly out to the further away part.

Certainly, I am not denying it is a great place to vist and a good experience, just that if folks want to see the Grand Canyon then by visiting the West Rim they are not really seeing what they want to see, The West Rim wasn't even classed by anyone as part of the GC until marketing companies got on the case about 30yrs ago

As I say it is a excellent place to visit, it jusn't isn't really the GC in the real sense , I would suggest that you would notice the difefrence though as the scale of the canyons at the 2 places are very different

It looks the same mate trust me, just not quite as deep. And the trip by helicopter pwns everything else.........

cant agree with Woodsey enough on the canyon trip! Im sure both trips have their merit - but the one I did was excellent

............... and if the choice is helicopter or 11 hours on a coach............................

you can do South Rim on a 1hr light aircraft flight

Not sure, I've used Maverick and Papillion, so could be either.

Need to know budgets for everything really. Especially restaurants.

didnt rly enjoy blueman group. he shows ive seen, i loved pen and teller and though copperfield was ok/good.

Tbf if you go to the south rim, there are only certain vantage points you can even see the river at the bottom.

where is the sky walk. i thought that was amazing but gonna be pretty pissed if that was not genuine grand canyon, and if you love the woman you are with dont do the bus and fly. 100 times better

Doesn't matter if its actually in the national park or not mate, its all the same shit your looking at even if its half a mile over the official park boundary or whatever.......

Around $300ish I think, think you can also do deals on the strip flight at the same time.
