Title: Portable HEM Database Post by: skolsuper on May 28, 2011, 03:11:21 AM Does anyone know if it would be possible to put my HEM database on a portable hdd and use it from there? Maybe even on my iphone? (obv looking to lower my basket:egg ratio to dangerous levels)

See the section called 'Export all files' & do this in HM on your old PC - your HH's will go automatically to a newly automatically created folder here on your old PC: C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\HandHistoryExport_(what you named the database originally) ################## When you have HM & postgreSQL set up on your new PC you can move these HH across into a folder you've created on your new PC (I would use a memory stick, but I don't have millions of hands) & import into a new DB you have created there (see same FAQ above) If you have loads of HH's I think the best way is to use a network - but I'm not sure off the HEM forums, hope this helps, gl with it Title: Re: Portable HEM Database Post by: TheThistle on May 28, 2011, 08:07:35 AM I have a good contact that knows all this stuff backwards (he wrote the HEM manuals) & he would prob help you out if you get stuck. PM me if you need his contact details

(obv looking to lower my basket:egg ratio to dangerous levels) I'd be really interested to see how you got on with this as I asked the same question a while ago and was advised not to as it would slow HEM down too much, consequently the database on my main which has over 1m hands on it is different to my lappy. There are lots of hosting companies who will host your database on the internet for under $5/month, you just need a bit of tech knowledge to follow and impement http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/90/Run+PostgreSQL+Over+a+Network+

Title: Re: Portable HEM Database Post by: Longines on May 30, 2011, 09:01:49 AM Pretty sure having different versions of Windows will make no difference to HEM. Assuming you have a laptop and desktop you could host your database on the laptop. That way when you're away from home you can still use it and when at home you leave the laptop turned on and point the desktop's HEM at the laptop's database.
