Title: Vegas; what to play and where?
Post by: Junior Senior on June 05, 2011, 09:33:13 PM
Hi, off to Vegas for a week in Mid June. I intend to play most days but as I am going with the wife it may just be 3 tourneys. I can't decide on where to play. I am flexible and tempted by the WSOP side events but the juice is 10% and don't know if I can be arsed with the Rio. Thinking I might play at Venetian. Anyone got any tips or ideas on where the best value comps will be?
Cheers

Aria - Early Afternoon or Early Evening
Bust out early then to Ceasors - Bust out of that rebuy back in

Not really add $10 onto that for the optional add on that everyone takes for extra 20% chips.

I am just back - mirror what is said above

I played

Caesars Megastack series - 12 noon and 4pm
Binions Classic - I cashed in 11th in the $150 event 2, events going on throughout June, also at Golden Nugget
Aria Deepstack - I final tabled but went out 9th (7 paid) in the 7pm, also one at 1pm
MGM Grand - 11.05 and 7.05pm - $80 and soft field (I cashed 3rd for $443)

Venetian was outside my bankroll but is well recommended (they have Venetian Extravaganza on)

Dave

Anyone have any decent tips on the cash games? Where is the most action, widest range of stakes etc.

Not sure why you ask for the widest range of stakes....

Generally 1/2 1/3 will vary every day.  For instance you can go into a random cardroom and their 1/2 could be full of guys on a stag weekend moving all in blind every hand.  Or it could be a complete rock garden.  It's a simple case of moving around until you find a good game.  There is certainly no need to stay in a bad game for very long.

The Rio deserves a special mention though.  The WSOP circus usually ensures these are the juiciest games imaginable.  But to give you an idea of how they play, 2/5 PLO sat down with a grand might be considered deepstack poker anywhere else.  With the nutters in the Rio and a Mississippi straddle as well, the game plays MUCH bigger.  Now you will be frequently getting that grand into the middle pre flop.
