Sailed in to Mindelo last autumn as an unplanned stop off in an transatlantic sailing trip. Couldn't really recommend as a holiday but the people were fantastic and tremendously welcoming.

Yeah, looking to go that time next year just as a chilling holiday. Did you stay in a hotel/all inclusive, i was looking to book a villa and do a bit of exploring the islands.

Stayed in one of those RIU all inclusive hotels. Did Gambia this Feb but probably preferred Cape Verde

really depends what your looking for. If your looking for beach hotel and not much else then yes this is perfect however if your looking for something that requires a little more than a good book and lots of run lotion then yet may want to look at other places. What are you looking for? How far are you prepared to travel?

I could do with some run good lotion, do they do that?

To be honest we were just going to go to Tenerife or one of those islands then i saw Cape Verde and thought it looked quite nice, need to go feb/mar if possible and want it to be warm/hot. Not to bothered about loads of night life, any other suggestions?

when i go in (say) Feb, i only go for one week so i look for good weather but not really long haul because only going for a week. The benefit of Tenerife, Cape Verde, Gambia etc is that it is on the same GMT timeline so there is no time change that you would get with Carribean, Cuba, Thailand etc.

Stayed at the Sheraton in Gambia this year and was ok for a lazy week. Cape Verde better option though depending on prices
