OK well i dont like these muppets taking my blind for min bets, so i decided to flat call and make a play on the turn.

[Jan 3 03:22:57] : Dealing turn.

[Jan 3 03:22:59] : jayzus bet 60

He leads for the min again, but he have extra outs, do we take a card, fold or punish his futile attemt at MY pot?

"but we have extra outs"
= still wanting to be a fish, "do we take a card" = please someone say it's ok that I am a fish, "fold" = brief moment of sanity,  "punish his futile attemt at MY pot" =  YES, indeed, you are still a fish.

You have to move all in and give him a mighty rub down when he calls and loses !

Title: Re: Play along with Flushy 3, lets show some style!
Post by: Royal Flush on January 03, 2006, 10:55:08 PM
Well i decided not to move all in as i thought he had something stupid like fish do, maybe he hit the 8 or has a 4.

[Jan 3 03:23:11] : Flush Royal called 60 and raised 480
[Jan 3 03:23:26] : jayzus has 10 seconds to respond.
[Jan 3 03:23:26] : jayzus called 480
[Jan 3 03:23:27] : Showdown!
[Jan 3 03:23:29] : Flush Royal has Straight 65432
[Jan 3 03:23:29] : Flush Royal wins 1,680 with Straight 65432

He took a while but eventually he paid of the master of the blinds.

That be a lesson to all of you, dont mess!

We started with 2000 chips, it was coming to the end of level 2. Its a 3 am comp, which is full of mainly muppets. Although the last 2 nights running i have knocked out Joe Cassidy and Todd Brunson in these comps!!

IMO, I understand that your call on the flop was so that you could bluff him on the next card but i think that this is an expensive way to play and you should have run the bluff then, or folded. On the turn you are getting odds to flat call so you could call but a semi bluff is probably the most profitable play here (although probably not against this guy, lol). Can't fault your play on the end.

Basically, i would have played the same but i would have raised/folded on the flop.

However, i always do crap in the blondepoker tourneys so you might want to ignore me.

Edit: if you call the turn bet and fold the river you have not played poorly (IMO) and you have (cheaply) told people that you are not gong to let people take your blinds.

A cheaper way to do the same thing could have been to raise on your BB and then, if you fold later, show your cards. If you are going to check, a raise is not much more and the cheap advertising will make people think you are nuts and will expect you to call them with trash (hence preventing blind steals).

I prefer to wait till the turn, it shows more strength and they are less likely to fish.

Ian you fool i will just relieve you of your chips when you think you can make me pass QQ with your 79!  ;goodvevil;

I plan on Ginger making a re-steal on me when i have QQ again!

i have already planned my comp... build loads chips get moved to tikays table!

Get involved with old man and manage to double him up several times, each time he looks at me as tho to say you've got me! Only to realise i'm on another draw and his J high is good!

May battle comence!

Perfectly legitimate play and winning some pots you shouldn't win is so important in chip accumulation.  I also refuse to let some chimp betting minimum into me take pots easily, he's obviously weak here and it's usually easy to make them pass on the turn or on the river. I'm actually surprised he called your river bet as he was so clearly weak.  A flat call on flop and raise/bet on turn is the best way to play it as well imo.
