Title: I miss the RSQ
Post by: Cf on June 26, 2011, 11:26:11 PM
How long has it been gone now? It feels like forever!

Too soon to bring it back?

I think the problem last time was there were too many of them. Rather than weekly I think it might be better if it was every 2nd week. I know that by the end it was starting to feel like hard work having to submit answers every week. Especially when I was asked to name service stations on the M6 and the names of recruitment angencies ;)

Off and bog.

Rearrange into a well used phrase ;)

I'd be more inclined to join in too if it weren't every week.  Get it sorted Cf.

The problem was stupid quizmasters.

One advantage to every two weeks is we could perhaps be a little more selective in who runs them :) or at the very least it gives the qm time to get the questions proofed by someone (I suggest tighty) rather than posting and having changes made. That started to happen most weeks. That was beyond farce. It just ruined it.

I miss em too, not enough people did em though. I kept putting in answers just for the quiz to never run. FML.

No, it was quizmasters who were stupid.

Yeah that too obv lol

The problem with questions being changed tho was it was a waste of time submitting whilst all the bickering went on as they may get changed. End result is people don't bother. When they go up that needs to be it. And they then need to not start with "name an avenged sevenfold song" ;)

Yeah, but if the quizmasters weren't stupid and put a bit of effort into creating questions that are suitable for the RSQ there'd be no need for the bickering and changing of 90% of the original questions.

What are ya trying to say Kin?

I'm guessing a few more people would play if there wasn't a risk of having to set the questions for the next one.

Personally I'd happily have a go but there's not a chance in hell I could ever spend 2 hours one night quizmastering.

Yours were fine, it was just off the back of some terrible attempts and people had lost interest.

I'll do a one-off RSQ to gauge the interest if people want?

I want one please.

But I am particular about having what I consider to be good/interesting/educational questions before I chose to enter one. If there is more than one that i can't answer i don't enter as i refuse to Google an answer.

More than one question you can't answer means a bad RSQ imo .

The idea is that everyone can answer the questions, but the skill comes with the picking answers that are correct and unique. It's no fun entering if there are questions you can't answer at all. That's not the point of the RSQ.

I have a new concept that I was willing to try out, in the vein of my Pointless variant, if people would like

Based on another leading quiz show

Would need a few days to set up a control group of responses, then would be good to go

Yeah tightys idea might be good.

This.

Plain RSQ is boring. RSQ w/ a twist is good but if people aren't happy at me certain people being QM's and want to take that away for the winner then it'll be interesting to see how the new QM is decided and what you get for winning.

Unlucky Dan. You've tried to educate but they just don't get it.

I think I read every set of RSQ questions and the best by far was Dan's with all the pictures and stuff.

Well played fella.

Dino1980 did one early on with pictures and it worked well, I just nicked his idea. Made it harder to google as well.

I don't mind the occasional picture question but i'm not a fan when a whole quiz consists of them. There's little farce appeal hence hardly any interactivity during the reveal. May as well just wait until it's done to see how you did.

New Quizes FTW!!

I would also like to see a thread entirely made up of voting polls. Is this even possible? You just put two random things against each other and people vote on it. Like Big Mac vs Whopper, Dominos vs Pizza hut, of course the first two i think of are food... ermm. stuff like Lose an arm vs Lose a leg, be blind or deaf, PS3 vs Xbox. I have lots of ideas a lot of them are pretty sick though. Not the good sick the puke sick.

As for QMs I'm happy for it to not be winner is QM. Perhaps setup a schedule of who is going to do it. Tighty is happy to do one. kinboshi is. I am. I imagine ironside is? If so that's 2 months worth of quizzes right there. And I'm sure others will volunteer as time goes on.

Although perhaps there should be some other sort of punishment for finishing first :)

I've had a set of standard RSQ questions floating around in my head for a while now... had to keep them there so Adam couldn't ruin them ;)

Dino1980 found it on 2p2 and took it from there.
