Title: Re: UKIPT Brighton Post by: Coggy on July 11, 2011, 08:58:41 AM Already in Brighton...staying in my own bed, Amatay has the spare room, hoping to play the £100 side Thursday nite. Not sure if the ME or another side event.
I'm not much of a food person so poss not great for where to eat (tho can defo give a no no is some get mentioned that as shizz), but can probably help on drinking establishments depending on what your after/age/how many of you there are. You will struggle to get in a lot of places with more than like 3 blokes, especially with ID not from Brighton. Title: Re: UKIPT Brighton Post by: Cupcake on July 11, 2011, 04:00:58 PM Hi chaps,
I'm thinking of playing in the ME, I'm new to these stars tourneys. Can you just turn up and buy- in? Because I'd like to play Thursday, also is it possible to park at Metropole hotel or near? Many thanks in advance. John. Title: Re: UKIPT Brighton Post by: toddswain on July 11, 2011, 04:07:30 PM There's a tourny cap of 400 runners, not sure if it will make it or not, i presume so, think you can buy in on the day, but to be safe you can register on the stars client under Events>special>qualifiers>Ukipt brighton Day1a.
Apparently parking around there is terrible and expensive, not sure though, would have to ask a local Title: Re: UKIPT Brighton Post by: Cupcake on July 11, 2011, 04:12:28 PM Hey Todd,
That's great, thanks for such a quick response. Also how do I manage to get flushy on my table- so I can break it off in his arse and send him to the bar! John. Title: Re: UKIPT Brighton Post by: smashedagain on July 11, 2011, 04:18:19 PM lol parking is terrible. i got parking in the hotel i have used for the last 2 comps but even they charged for it

Because I'd like to play Thursday, also is it possible to park at Metropole hotel or near? Many thanks in advance. John. Parking will be shockingly expensive m8. Nearest and safest I can think of would be the multi storey at the marina and get taxi/bus back (possibly the Volks Railway for a bit of tourist fun if it's running) or an ok 20 mins walk along the seafront. Dont walk back that way in the dark though !!! Title: Re: UKIPT Brighton Post by: Coggy on July 12, 2011, 09:18:31 AM Think u can buy in at venue but no idea how it will work out. I'm going for that at about 7 - 7.15 on Thursday then if cant get in, get a cab along to the marina and play there tourney instead (which is a 50/50 on a Thursday).

Title: Re: UKIPT Brighton Post by: FUN4FRASER on July 12, 2011, 01:10:19 PM Hi Everybody
Myself and a few others are planning on travelling down to Brighton to play day 1B... That should be easy enough ...you would think....Nah !! As I didnt want to buy in via Pokerstars and then effectively become a "Pokerstars Player" represent them , wear their colours etc ( + they pay any winnings into your stars account) ..I decided to make various enquires...including direct buy ins, field capped at how many runners, alternate list , start times etc etc.. got to say it was a "F****in Nightmare "...It would seem that no human being knows anything about the tournament Ive tried to speak to pokerstars but they have their own agenda and it appears are not interested in cash buy ins....Spoke to the metrople hotel and they said " what event" ? :)....It goes on and on as you can imagine If we are travelling down from Sheffield (and various other places in The North)then we dont want to get down there only to be refused a seat... Anyway to cut a long story short The G Casino in Brighton are accepting buy ins on behalf of the Hilton who are hosting the event on behalf of pokerstars...Are you still with me ? :) ...Mmmm I wonder why there is a breakdown in communication........ So after going round a million houses I eventually rang the G casino in Brighton at 11am Tuesday(today) and was told categorically that you could buy in from any G casino in the UK who will effectively ring Brighton and confirm the booking...according to the same lady she says that both days only have 15 or so entrants currently registered but accepts pokerstars have yet to merge their satelite winners into the pool My advice is... if you want to buy in direct !...get yourselves into your local G casino and buy in from there to secure your seat ! Hope this helps Peace x PS...As I said there are a few of us going down so if anybody wants to suggest where we can meet up for drinks on the Thursday night then maybe post on here PPS...It would seem the people I was going down with have had a change of heart with their plans...so if anybody is wanting to travel down with me by train Thursday ..Im free :) Title: Re: UKIPT Brighton Post by: Cupcake on July 12, 2011, 03:38:52 PM Many thanks to all, especially Coggs. Parking in the multi-storey and walking along the seafront sounds simply divine. Not sure why it'd be slightly precarious at night; I was under the impression, with Flushy living there, that it was a predominantly gay area, and thus very friendly.

That area you'll walk along, Madeira Drive houses Dukes Mound. A spot no doubt flushy enjoys from the sounds of it, but I don't know him to answer that !!!! I'm hoping Amatay knows a few faces so i can meet some of ya. For going out options, feel free to ask away, say what nights and sort of thing your after (ages I spose) and I'll see what I can do. Thursday nights are basically student nights tho, so you'll get cheap beer, but not many people over 23 !!! Title: Re: UKIPT Brighton Post by: Cupcake on July 12, 2011, 05:13:39 PM That's great info Coggy, however I've seen that there's a Pret a Manger in Brighton, and that'll do me just fine, as I'm a 40 year old man and no use to anyone.

Ok, so UKIPT.. I went down and registered for the £100 and the £550. I then unregged from the £100 as I wasn't sure on timing. I then went back and said can I re-reg please. It took then 2.5hrs to put me in the system, this is for a £100 comp, ofc I was annoyed but the girls trying to sort it were actually really nice just either incompetent or computer was fucked, either way I got no comp of any sort and I kinda shrugged it off as whatever. Yesterday I get to the main and they tell me "sorry sir we dont have you on the system" we will ring the G and sort it for you asap. "Hi we have a Patirck Leonard here, ohh he was in yesterday for 2 hours was he? And he is 100% registered for day1a yeh? Cool. Oh wait theres a problem"... The problem went on for 50 minutes and I missed almost 10% of the first day where I would have my biggest edge (being 300bb deep vs the retards) and when I finally get to my table "sorry sir all sorted now" I get told I have bene blinded down for an hour! Obv I wasn't happy about that. Such a well run series from the outside but seemed really amateurish to me. Dena was very apologetic and did try very hard to sort it tbf.
