Title: Part 1 Gibraltar masters
Post by: pleno1 on July 31, 2011, 11:06:06 AM
It is the annual Gibraltar Masters series, whoever wins gets a trophy and is crowned champion of GIb. I'm the biggest winner in the casino this year and I really wanted to win this comp as lots of colleagues etc were playng.

Starting stack is 15k, I have got myself up to 26k but have a really loose image.

Hijac and c/o both limp at 50/100 with effective stacks of 15k. I make it 425 on the button with  Qs 9s, SB and BB call aswell as the limpers

Flop

 Ks 9c 4c

BB donks 1400. Folds to me and I call.

Turn is 2s.

He donks 2k and I call

River is  Qh and he quickly checks.

There is 10k in the pot and we have 11k effective

What do we like?

b/f
jam
b/induce/call
check back

bet sizings?

Weird spot.  Not really sure what he is repping at all....KT/KJ?  I suppose TcJc or JcQc makes some sense too but I don't think I am folding so probably betting like 3.5-4k and calling it off.  Any reads on villain?

i had 26 at start of hand, 11k effective on river tho

It's obv villain dependant but probs a jam for me

Obv deference to MC champ ;-) but what do you think is really calling us with worse here?  AK is pretty unlikely so we are relying almost entirely on K9 and total spew from KT/KJ aren't we?

100% check behind to limp/call donkers

You are beating KJ IMO, and he probs ck/calls better 2 pairs

Bad players don't bet non nut hands on the river when they can  check call

Deffo betting 3-4k here.

If I'm not jamming I'm bet folding 3-4k

Bet calling is pretty tez imo, just doesn't seem like we're ever gonna be winning then.

Limp call with AA 3 way? Fairly hopeful

I don't see how he ever really has AK/AA here.  It has to be a tiny part of his range.  Can see how b/f could be better than b/c but I really think both are better than jamming.

Jamming>>>>>>bet/calling ainec for me

Bet/fold perhaps nutline though

I dont thin I could bring myself to bet/fold, although I prolly should

Think it comes down to the basic reason why we are betting.  Surely the only two reasons to bet are to get better hands to fold and worse hands to call.  If we jam we don't acheive either of these.  If we bet 3-4k then hands like KJ/KT possibly call so we get value out of them and sometimes we induce him to spew because of our image.  Whether it is b/f or b/c comes down to how often you expect the player to fall into that trap and that is a hard call without any read but I just don't understand what we acheive by jamming here.

Very optimistic imo :(

I think bet/folding this type of spot will lose fashion very quickly

well if ur betting it has to be b/f (even if uv been rly fking the table over i dont think b/c is good), much prefer jam with described image though. fyl though and if he showed a bluff hes a king.
