Title: Bash HU Challenge Teams
Post by: Robert HM on January 04, 2006, 07:25:17 PM
OK, threads have meandered all over the place and I am trying to get all the information together.

Just to remind you the "All Stars" team laid down a challenge to other blondes to form teams to take them on, and if there were enough, maybe to have a knockout comp.

At them moment it looks like we have the following teams who have picked up the gauntlet and offered to hand over their hard earned, or easily won, folding stuff.

All Stars Team:

Elblondie, Snoppy, byronkinkaide, Royal Flush and (weakest link) me.

Girlies Team:
londonpokergirl, Djinn, Ginger, Jo Handman and The Woo

Team Ironside:

ironside, ironside, ironside, ironside and ironside.

Actionjack's "hot women" team:

actionjack, Rob "yongsta" Yong, Simon "Chubbs" Nowab, Chili and Dewi-Cool, (foxyminx and therock as reserves)

Team "Cheesey Reebok Stuff it up Flushie"

TightEnd, Sheriff Fatman, Heid, M3Boy, The Jagster

floppymongrelknowitalldonkeyjesseys (The floppies for short)

RED-DOG, noflopshomer, Wardonkey, I Know It, and Jezza

"The No Name Team"

dan, cupcake, tikay, The Nun, and a.n. other

Just to remind you of the structure etc:

OK, the fine print.

What is envisaged is each of the 5 team members each play a single HU match against a drawn opponent. So 5 individual matches in all.

Each member stakes £45 + £5 (the rake going to Poker4charity if all agree)
(the buy in IS negotiable if need be, the main thing is to have fun)

There is nothing stopping a team having a joint bankroll to reduce the variance.

2000 chips, blinds start at 25/50, 15 minute clock.

It maybe best to have a knockout competition, comments from Team Captains please

Are there any other teams? Rather than individuals showing interest, if teams can be discussed on this thread http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=4523.0
and elected team captains post on this thread.

It will be a busy weekend, TightEnd has arranged much to amuse us (with the able assistance of dik9), so it maybe difficult to fit in more than we have already but certainly open to ideas

Good Question

This is what I envisage:

Each team Captain to draw up a numbered list of players, 1 to 5. Lodge them with me.

A draw will take place to see which team plays which.

Lets say Team A meets Team B in the first round. Player 2 from Team A to play Player 2 from Team B.

The initial draw will also tell us who the winners of the quarter finals will meet in the semis

e.g.

Quarter final 1
Team A v Team B

Quarter final 2
Team C v Team D

Quarter final 3
Team E v Team F

Quarter final 4
Team G v Team H

Semi Final 1
Winners of Quarter Final 1 to play winners of Quarter Final 2

Semi Final 2
Winners of Quarter Final 3 to play winners of Quarter Final 4

There will be 5 in each team so the first one to 3 wins, matches should be played out even if a team goes 3 - 0 ahead

Make sense? Comments?

I'll second that, i have played Tony twice now, and he is no dummy, he got ul at robs when he ran 2 pair into 2 pair and then i outdrew him for his last few chips  :dontask:

He then played the poker4charity game in great spirit and when we got on the final table it was clear revange was to be the order of the day! It was fitting that we got headsup, he had to also fight the fact that all of the rest of the final table knew eachother!!!

I fear he may be after me again on saturday!!

If you read this thread, see you there Tony!

the draw will take place prior to the main comp. then if two opponents are knocked out while the casino is open it can be played then. If not afterwards

Title: Re: Bash HU Challenge Teams
Post by: divaflava on January 05, 2006, 12:21:56 AM
Just a suggestion, why not make the draw a bit later, say during the dinner break after a final reminder/heavy hint?

A midnight start is still early on in the evening really, all things considered, and it would allow a few scratch teams to be put together once people have got to know each other a bit better. If £45 + 5 is too much, then £20 + 5 could be an option if the two team's agree. I doubt anyone will quibble the +5 for the worthy cause.

Title: Re: Bash HU Challenge Teams
Post by: Robert HM on January 05, 2006, 12:37:15 AM
divaflava, this comp has been a logistical nightmare to set up. The idea of making the draw just before the comp is that everyone will be there at the time, people know who they are playing and can get the individual matches arranged between themselves, losing 5 hours would be suicidal. If peeps want to set up teams they ought to do it before then. I would think we could just fit in three more teams and have a knockout comp but even that is going to rely on everyone playing their respective games as soon as they can.

Title: Re: Bash HU Challenge Teams
Post by: divaflava on January 05, 2006, 12:47:55 AM

Title: Re: Bash HU Challenge Teams
Post by: Robert HM on January 06, 2006, 12:18:35 AM

Make sense? Comments?

Is it gonna be a fairly quick structure so that we might be able to get an hour or two's kip?
Or am I just being a wimp.

How do you envisage the pay out?

Each individual game will have a stake and the winner pockets the cash. If any  of the captains wants to suggest an alternative I am open to suggestions.

Idle interest or are you going to get the 8th and final team together?
