Ok, well its not officially the best comp...yet, but with all the footy comps running for the new season i thought i would see if anyone fancies this:

The idea is to pick two numbers which correspond to two teams randomly assigned from the top 4 leagues from England & top 4 from Scotland with the aim of getting their rolling total goals scored to add up to exactly 21.

Everyone puts a tenner in each and the first person who has two teams whose goals scored total 21 binks the whole prizepool. Then we can start over again if you like. It's a lot harder to bink exactly 21 when you use two teams, so hopfully there should be some value in this comp.

Rules:

If you go bust (over 21) your score will start again from zero.

Goals are only counted once a match has officially ended.

All scores will be taken from BBC official site. (misprints accepted)

If two contestants score 21 at the same time then the winner will be the person who's team scored first.

If any person happens to select the same two teams then its first come, first served.

Only league games count, be it weekend or midweek. Cup games, European games etc will not be included.

No special treatment for own goals, balloon goals or any other foreign objects. The goals are taken as read.


PM me your two numbers from 1-134, I will then update the main page with your teams.

All entrants and monies to be paid by 1200 on Saturday 13th August, failing to do so will resolve in exclusion from the comp.

Ouch. Like your way of thinking that could result in some very healthy prizepools!! also think it could get quite expensive though.  Think it could also be a massive ball ache trying to chase people up for a tenner everytime they go busto.

Some very crude maths here but two teams, per week avg goals of 2 would see you going bust every 5/6 weeks

Toddswain is in on rules as stated originally, so wont change anything without his conscent.

On registering please indicate your preference flat tenner til 21 or £10 re-entry everytime you go over 21.

Wont bother putting up a poll coz you get every man and his dog voting. [ ] know how to put up a poll.

People are good to start PMing their two random numbers between 1-134 and I will post up which teams they correspond to. Obv keep your numbers private else some people will try and find an angle. Also once all teams have been selected I will post the spreadsheet for people to have a butchers.

Once your teams have been drawn I will PM payment details.

put up a poll. £20 entry and £5 rebuys, poeple won't forget if you put a proviso of if you don't buy back in beofre 3pm saturday you're out. The pot could get huge!

Obviously i have remembered a few of the numbers which wouldn't be fair if i picked my own.

So my proposal is: i will email the full list of teams and numbers to someone on here who has already picked, then i would get two people to pick a random number each for me. Thereby getting my random teams!? if everyone is ok with that? If people have objections then i will sit it out. Simples.

obv i'm ok with it if you are doing the hard work then why not. peterborough are obv my fav wheel of doom number and assume its the same with others

We are looking at 10 so far, which isn't bad, prizepools likely to be £300 or so i reckon.

Sigh, clearly not enough degens on this forum.

Obv too many Nits not man enough for a comp like this... Think i will just put it to bed as it will be a season of hard work for not much banter and not much of a payday from the looks of it.

Thanks to all those who were actually up for it from the start. Might try and run something similar another time or maybe another sport.
