Title: RSQ 70: I've run out of clever titles. Post by: Cf on August 03, 2011, 03:09:57 PM Welcome!
Reveal Wednesday 8pm. Deadline for answers 7pm. Lowest score wins. Points for each question is the amount of people who gave the same answer. So you want unique correct answers. Most common answer is called the sheep. Incorrect answers score the sheep + 5. You have 1 pass. You score 0 for that question. Please note you may not pass the final 3 questions. No using google etc. Answers to me via pm. Good luck! 1. Name a coca cola variant currently sold in the UK. eg, "Banana Coca-Cola" 2. Name a judge on this years version of either the UK or US X-Factor. 3. Name a human sense. 4. Name an English coin and the amount up to which it can be used as legal tender. Hint: some coins can be used for an unlimited amount, others cannot. 5. Name a handheld gaming console. (a proper one, crappy tetris machine from market doesn't count). 6. Name a car insurance company. 7. Name a chance card from monopoly. I shall be using the 60th anniversary edition as reference. 8. Name a British bank. 9. Name a tv series where the protagonist(s) can be considered a "bad guy". 10. It is cold and wet outside and you're about to go and watch a football match. Name an item of clothing you are likely to be wearing. No passing the last 3 questions. 11. Name something you might expect to find in a torture chamber. Note that non-ace answers will incur a 5 point penalty. Answers I deem too vague (Eg "torture device") will be fails. 12. You have just been bad beated and eliminated from a poker tournament. Your opponent has something to say to you. What does he say? 13. Give a word which, if used on blonde, will likely result in your post being moderated. Q4 is gobbledygook Title: Re: RSQ 70: I've run out of clever titles. Post by: Cf on August 03, 2011, 03:20:10 PM Q4 is just asking how much of a coin can be used as legal tender. Wasn't quite sure how best to word it.
Q13 will have the words themselves starred :) Title: Re: RSQ 70: I've run out of clever titles. Post by: gatso on August 03, 2011, 03:24:49 PM did you get girgy and sharples together to come up with q4?

Wasn't quite sure how best to word it. Q13 will have the words themselves starred :) I am moderately intelligent and I still do not understand what you want from Q4. As I understand it, it is virtually impossible not to Ace for example my debt is £1m I can pay with 10,000,000 1p pieces Is this what you are looking for? Title: Re: RSQ 70: I've run out of clever titles. Post by: Cf on August 03, 2011, 03:29:21 PM Yes. Although you can't do that :) that would be a fail.
Title: Re: RSQ 70: I've run out of clever titles. Post by: TightEnd on August 03, 2011, 03:31:29 PM why would it fail if it is a correct answer?
Title: Re: RSQ 70: I've run out of clever titles. Post by: Cf on August 03, 2011, 03:38:22 PM Because it's not a correct answer. Coins are only legal tender up to a certain amount. What this amount is is what the question is asking for. For pennies it's considerably less than £10m. But as I was in a nice mood I point out there are coins that can be used for any amount.

Title: Re: RSQ 70: I've run out of clever titles. Post by: Cf on August 03, 2011, 03:45:33 PM I'll reword q4 when I get home to make it a bit clearer.
Happy with brands for the insurer. Title: Re: RSQ 70: I've run out of clever titles. Post by: gatso on August 03, 2011, 03:46:45 PM apart from that question being possibly the worst worded question in the history of rsq it also fails to fit the most basic criteria that every single person should be able to come up with at least one answer without googling

I fail to see how it doesn't have an obvious answer. It does in fact have a few. And a non-obvious obvious answer too! Title: Re: RSQ 70: I've run out of clever titles. Post by: Cf on August 03, 2011, 04:36:29 PM The quiz even gets a mention on twitter! I feel honoured!

good work Title: Re: RSQ 70: I've run out of clever titles. Post by: DMorgan on August 03, 2011, 09:09:10 PM Pretty smart strategy from the QM here. Make one question ridiculous enough to ensure that everyone passes it, then you get an answer from everyone on the general knowledge stuff.
Humiliation potential therefore increases, wp Title: Re: RSQ 70: I've run out of clever titles. Post by: kinboshi on August 03, 2011, 10:56:11 PM Charlie boy, although a million times better than your previous efforts Q4 is still bollocks. Some of the others are good though.

Question 1 has about 3 answers (possibly 4 but not sure if that is still available in the UK). So that's crap. Q4 is a guess, as I'm sure that no one on here knows if you're allowed to spend £10, £20 or £10,000,000 in 20-pence pieces or not. Apologies all for letting this fool ruin the RSQ again. It looked like bollocks so I googled it and found out something new. As a standard quiz question this would be brilliant. As a RSQ question it's clearly absolute gash because nobody on the planet will have a clue what any of the possible answers are. Great question, wrong quiz. Apologies all for letting this fool ruin the RSQ again. lol @ moving on to complain about q1. There's obv more than 3 answers. And stop complaining about q4 ffs. As I say there's obvious answers to it. One submission has given me an obvious answer which I didn't think of myself. Try thinking outside the box. Or just pass it. It's not like any of the other questions are actually difficult. My quiz has only 1 question that can be considered difficult. It's not sharplea standard where every question is obscure stuff. 1 question. And it has obvious answers. And if you can't work out what those obvious answers are then I can't help you. The question even spells it out for you. Title: Re: RSQ 70: I've run out of clever titles. Post by: Cf on August 04, 2011, 01:06:04 PM What I will say is from the submissions I have so far this is going to be a great reveal. I always try and set questions with farce potential in mind and I have succeeded based on what I have so far. It's a shame if we're going to let the RSQ die off again because people are getting their knickers in a twist over 1 question.

Considering your questions are often "pick one of the 10 following things" 9 doesn't seem too far off. Just because you don't know all 9 isn't my problem. However, I felt specifying "thermal" was enough to differentiate. And seeing as I wasn't grouping those two together I decided to leave Claw's seperate too. 'underwear' isn't even an item of clothing, it's a type of clothing. could mean pants, vests, leggings etc. fail underwear (thermal or otherwise), ace knickers imo. This is true. However, i'd have prob whaled the answers together under this heading anyway so am prepared to leave as is. but anyone who said 'underwear' is wrong. you asked for an item, they have given you a generic reply. you're not whaling 'outerwear' items, are you? No but the various items of underwear serve the same purpose and people often refer to it as underwear no matter which item they happen to be wearing. I am a nice QM and am prepared to not get too picky in this spot :) no. my bra and knickers serve very different purposes actually. A got a few answers saying "*****". Originally I thought these people were trying to be clever so they got fails. I then realised that there's a swear filter so it was most likely censoring the answers. That said, i'm only aware of 1 word it applies too as none of the rest on the list got censored. As for the protagonists in spooks not being able to be considered bad guys, did no one watch the last series? Lucas not a bad guy? Not that it was actually his name as he'd killed the real Lucas North. Even taking Lucas aside, many consider the actions of MI5 to be 'bad', as they often act outside the law and make decisions that infringe on civil liberties. Same as Jack Bauer in 24. A lot of his techniques, such as torture are condemned by many, so although he's the hero, he could be considered a bad guy. Not the worst QM, fair to middling - mediocre.
