How does the handicap bit work out of interest? 

In anyway.

Each team is given points at the start of the season by Tighty, based on how well/badly they are expected to do over the season.  These points are added to the points each team scores in the league during the season. If he gets the handicap spot on - it'd be a draw and we'd all end up with the same points.

So if you're lucky you'll get the team that 'over-performs'.  Simples.

I put up a list of teams and a points handicap

20 players chose a number each, between 1 and 20

I get a non involved person to allocate a number to each premiership team

you get the team your number corresponds to


Updates monthly on how your team is doing

So we will start with Man U at Zero and Swansea, say with a 50 point headstart and others in between

The teams will be handicapped by me

At the end of the season we'll see who outperforms their handicap, and which team with the points adjusted wins this competition

Lucky Dip. Open to suggestions but the idea was we spin up the prize on a bet on something like the CL final post season. Players would be presented with a range of bets in a poll and the highest voted gets it, winning split equally. An alternative might be to do a sweepstake on the CL final say (correct scores, for example)

As to Karabiner, I said earlier in the thread that the two "free" teams were eligible to anyone who came in in the next few days to make the prize pool the full £500. In this case he chose Villa and the Reece fund would have gone to Newcastle. No biggie anyway, we can keep it as it is

With Newcastle in second place I propose we start considering the spin up options.

Personally I would like to see a big(ish) price but am a terrible punter so happy to turn to the "elders" for ideas.

Prob would prefer to avoid correct score/first goal scorer in Champions League but am happy to go with the flow.

I was intending to ask everyone who participated, once the season concludes, for their suggested bet for the (currently) £115 with a deadline

then inviting all with a share to vote, the one with the most votes get the bet.

I also think Bayern should win this fairly comfortably, I mean how often does a team get to play at home in a Champions League Final?

Looked at Half time-Full time Bayern @19/10 and Bayern -1@9-4(have to win by at least two)- and i prefer the latter of these.

I believe the Barca result was one of those freak games where one team ran like god and the other didn't. However, Bayern in my eyes thoroughly deserved to go through against Real.

Missing the likes of Ramires, Ivanovic and Terry is an absolute nightmare for the blues and although Munich have some ruled out too I don't believe they are as key.

The only worry for me here is that perhaps expectation may cause a problem for the home side whereas Di Matteo will almost feel on a free roll.

Interested to hear opinions, but I can think of far worse punts than Bayern@5/6 in 90 minutes.

The 3-1 score you suggest is 13-1 with paddy power, losing the one point but having the chelsea money back offer is far better than taking 14s with coral.

Happy with whatever. 4/1 seems skinny as if it wins we've got £20 each or whatever but I couldn't be arsed organising so can't really complain.

I'd still try and punt the majority of the stake using the Paddys moneyback offer, (which is a 15/8 shot) though agree only when the power's prices are competitive, think it's madness not to use that safteynet&still really like Gomez@4's-best industry price available-maybe 2nitty-but surely we should be aiming to win some money here.

Been thinking of double figure priced bets away from the mbs anyway, and one that appeals a little is Bayern to win on penalties@12-1 with Hills.

Germans don't do losing on penalties and we aren't exactly gr8 at them. It also seems amazing how many games fizzle out in extra time to an abso whimper leading to the inevitable-for example the Real-Munich semi-final. Think the club has won last 3 they've been involved in, Chelsea obv lost to United in THAT shootout and like I say it wld be the germans v the english at penalties, surely only one winner.

Another potential dart would be that if Van Buyten plays for Bayern due to the suspensions-not sure if he will or not, his scoring record is very good for a defender&25's with corals looks an ok bet.

Top Goalscorer/Winner double interests me a little.

I fancy Germany to win this thing but am not hugely keen at taking 3's.

However, Klosse/Germany@33's really seems ok with paddys.

5-8 points bigger than anywhere else bar corals, compared to the 14's on the gomez/germany double this looks value.

Klosse's record in internationals is fantastic, Gomez was truely awful in the champs league final.

Can't see them persisting with Gomez for long if he starts off slowly, then it could be Mr K all the way to the final.

Think Germany play to his strengths and it could be one last hurrah for him at this level.
