Title: Pressure's on (looking after kids) Post by: outragous76 on August 11, 2011, 12:40:19 PM Tomorrow is a big day for me - im looking after my niece and nephew for the first time (they are 5&7).
They are amazing kids and really no trouble, but I am 35 and have had zero idea about "kids stuff". I have plumped for the "theme park for the day" which seemed the most sensible to prevent boredom - but just incase I run out of ideas - does anyony have any gems that I can fall back onto if they start to whinge/moan/reaslise that uncle guy osnt quite so cool as we thought! thanks Title: Re: Pressure's on (looking after kids) Post by: millidonk on August 11, 2011, 12:42:48 PM Cars, Toy story any DVDs/BluRays along that line. Title: Re: Pressure's on (looking after kids) Post by: Laxie on August 11, 2011, 12:49:35 PM Make their own pizzas. Keeps them entertained and they'll eat it because they made it themselves. I can give you an easy peasy recipe if ya decide to go that route.

Pick your own fruit/vege place, indoor play centre like Monkey Mates (http://www.monkeymates.co.uk/) (different ones in every area) Could just take them to a normal play park for an hour or so. Stay clear of DVD's and " shut up" food, be pro active and put them first. Pay attention to them .... I assume you're near MK then, if its Gullivers World. It's aimed at younger kids so should be perfect for 5&7 year olds. There's always Xscape nearby too - cinema, bowling, arcades, skiing, etc all in one place. Something like fridge cake* would be good - after all it doesn't matter how hyped up they are when you hand them back ;D * http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/chocolatefridgecake_74814 Title: Re: Pressure's on (looking after kids) Post by: millidonk on August 11, 2011, 01:21:03 PM Title: Re: Pressure's on (looking after kids) Post by: TightEnd on August 11, 2011, 01:24:53 PM If it is Gullivers World in MK and its a nice day then literally across the road is Willen Lake
