Title: Just how bad is this? Post by: david3103 on August 17, 2011, 01:57:11 PM GP4 qualifier - we started with just 5 players so it's winner takes all
I'm short stack having rivered the nut flush vs the then shortstacks Straight Flush http://www.holdemmanager.net NL Holdem $150(BB) Boss Game#2671005868 david ($6,367) arbboy ($19,713) nuclei ($11,879) playing pretty standard 20/12/29/6.3 pokercola1 ($12,041) calling a lot, 73/26/29/14.8 my image is a bit soft, I've raise folded a few times and raised pre and folded to pressure on the flop - in my defence I've missed a lot of flops david posts (SB) $75 arbboy posts (BB) $150 Dealt to david K d Qc nuclei raises to $337 pokercola1 calls $337 david raises to $824 fold, nuclei raises to $1,611 fold, david calls $787 - error? I had folded to pressure a lot and given the winner takes all nature of this it felt like time to take a chance FLOP ($3,709) Ac 2c 6c david bets $4,756 (AI) Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: pleno1 on August 17, 2011, 02:06:59 PM i fold to the 4bet

something seems bad though! Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: redarmi on August 17, 2011, 02:57:36 PM Yeah definitely fold to the 4bet pre. For the flop shove to be profitable I would want some fold equity on my side. I suppose the key question is whether you can get JJ/QQ/KK to fold and I suppose you can as it is a fairly ugly board for them except KK with Kc but all that said i probably c/f and move on. You still have 30bb and plenty of time but you obviously wouldn't have got yourself in this problem if you hadn't called the 4bet in the first place. A decent general rule is to pretty much never call a 4bet.

Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: redarmi on August 17, 2011, 03:03:16 PM Yeah definitely fold to the 4bet pre. For the river shove to be profitable I would want some fold equity on my side. Shoved on the flop... yes that was what i meant.....I have modified original post to clarify a bit more. Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: Skippy on August 17, 2011, 03:25:44 PM its just pretty hard to work out whats going on. Not knowing what is going on is a important part of the DTD online poker experience. Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: Skippy on August 17, 2011, 03:29:07 PM As for the hand, I'd probably just call out of the small blind.
You can't just call the 4-bet, you have to jam or fold. Probably fold. Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: Eso Kral on August 17, 2011, 03:32:22 PM Imo I defo 3 bet bigger here to 1150ish as the sizing of your 3bet means at best your bringing both players along and playing oop with QKo, as played i fold to the 4bet and would do with my 3bet sizing in this spot as well.
You still have enough left to double through in a better spot and only be 2500 behind the average. Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: EvilPie on August 17, 2011, 03:56:19 PM I just flat pre. Even short handed I don't want to be 3 betting oop for what is going to be a fair chunk of my stack.
If nuclei is who I think it is then you should just let her have all your chips because she's lovely. Flop shove is fine. You're still in the rebuy period so worth a shot at a more playable stack. Also not wanting to affect DTDs numbers but playing a winner takes all comp is a bad idea. These comps are tremendous value thanks to the terrible players who seem to be in a rush to knock each other out. Unless there's at least 2 seats you're not getting any help from anywhere and that's where the value is. Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: Eso Kral on August 17, 2011, 04:02:50 PM This ^ And Arboy does or used to play about 150-200 stt's per day so game selection ftw

Makes most of his money from rb and rake races etc. Bit like most SNG pros really. Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: BulldozerD on August 17, 2011, 04:18:23 PM Think flatting, folding and 3betting pre are all acceptable but I tend to avoid squeezing in spots like this in these DTD sats because you get peeled alot ( esp with small 3bet size) and I don't really want to be betting out blindly into one or two players with that stack size. So prob mix between flat and occasionally I might just fold pre.
As played fold to the 4bet but flop jam is probably mandatory once you get there. Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: david3103 on August 17, 2011, 04:23:07 PM meh - i got there on the turn against nuclei's Ad 2d and held - as an aside what do you think of the 4bet against someone who hasn't previously 3bet?
anyways... She, if it is the she that EvilPie thinks isn't too lovely to berate my play, I was advised that I "couldn't have played the hand any worse" Maybe I'll play it better next time. Winner takes all is fine if you're the winner ;) Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: SuuPRlim on August 17, 2011, 04:52:46 PM you can still re-buy atm?
jam preflop if you cant then fold imo Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Winner takes all is fine if you're the winner ;) Both of you butchered it imo but you got there so all's well that ends well. I don't mind 3 betting but you should have a clear plan. 3 bet folding seems fine but for reasons mentioned by others I peel pre. Title: Re: Just how bad is this? I don't mind 3 betting but you should have a clear plan. 3 bet folding seems fine but for reasons mentioned by others I peel pre. 3 bet fold > 3 bet shove > 3 bet call then? I kinda knew once I'd called that it was wrong - the flop saved me and shoving there was pretty obvious to me. Mind you, if we're agreed that this hand was bad, you should have seen the hand that took us from 4 players to 2... Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: George2Loose on August 17, 2011, 09:19:05 PM call>3 bet fold imo
Wouldn't 3bet shove or 3 bet call Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: SuuPRlim on August 18, 2011, 12:37:45 AM 3bet fold KQ in a satelite where you can rebuy? you all fucking mental!!???
fold>jam>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>3b fold imo surely the worst possible line ever 3b/fold? Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: George2Loose on August 18, 2011, 08:03:27 AM I had forgotten the rebuy element of it
Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: BulldozerD on August 18, 2011, 08:15:03 AM Not sure I would want to rebuy in a 5 runner satellite with one seat unless it tipped the scales to 2 seats.
Title: Re: Just how bad is this? Post by: SuuPRlim on August 18, 2011, 09:12:49 AM god im confused - we start the hand with 40big blinds? I did not see this i assumed cos it was a sit and go we'd have like 15-25max lol
and it was a 5runner field? i just assumed you were 11 handed? 3betting in general is pretty terrible here, peeling a 4bet seems completely woeful just peel PF imo if we're 40big eff. fwiw I think 3b/f is actually a lot better than 3b/call |
