From 15 or so starters Sky Poker have 5 through I think

they are

Toby Lewis, amongst the big stacks. Toby sponsored by Sky Poker for this, and look out ofr him on Channel 865 soon

Ian Frazer and Julian Thew in the middle of the pack

Wayne Rideout and Alan Gratton amongst the short-stacks

Good luck to them and to the various blondes still battling such as jonnyplum, doobs, pez102, Nico29, lucky and redbull

I've been back playing cash virtually 6 days a week in the Vic since Vegas - trying to get my mojo back.

There are a bunch of kids that have started playing more regularly since I've returned. Last year and earlier this year they used to play £1/£2, but now I see them all the time in £5/£10 games, sitting with £4000+ and being a nuisance to us old folk trying to grind out a crust.

By far the most dangerous, versatile, confident and talented of the "gang" is Iaran Lightbourne. I'm just about to look him up on The Hendon Mob but until I saw him yesterday I've never seen him at a tournament. He has a perfect game for it.

Just thought I'd mention it as there is a good chance nobody has really heard of him here and it's easy to look at the overnight chip leader and think:

"He probably won't win it/propbably got lucky on day 1".

We have yet another potential new star here.

There are a few good tables in this

one now has Razavi, MacDOnald, Hicks and Akenhead sitting in a row with Lightbourne in seat 1

Lightbourne has been active in the few minutes I watched

generally opening for 2,700 at 600-1200. Twice folded to 3 bets pre

Then a third time opened to 2,700 UTG

Sam MacDonald call on the button

Heads up to  Kd 2c 7d

Lightbourne check calls 2,700

turn  5h

Lightbourne check calls 4,400

river  7h

check check

Lightbourne shows  Kc 9c which is good

He has over 100,000

Danny Blair also doing ok, 80,000.

David Johnson raises in second position. Both Shelley and Banzi call in position, and this brings George Tomhe in the big blind along

flop  2c 3c Qc

Tomhe check calls Johnson's lead

Starting the hand with about 30,000, Johnson has left himself a PSB behind on the turn

turn   2h

In Johnson's stack duly goes, Tomhe calls

Tomhe  Aspades Qs

Johnson  Tc 7c

Nice flop four ways, sir

He receives a double up plus some to about 70,000

Hmm in 14 minutes time we hit the first scheduled break after two levels

Amazingly there will be a 1 hour break for a buffet then, with about 55 left

No, I can't explain.

Title: Re: GUKPT Luton Day 2
Post by: TightEnd on August 20, 2011, 03:58:12 PM
Scott Shelley raises pre, Banzi smooths and Dave Johnson calls in the big blind

flop  Ahrt 6c Tc

Shelley bets and both call

turn  Kd

checked to Shelley who bets 12,500 into 20,000 or so

Banzi folds

After a big dwell Johnson jams 60,000 covering Shelley

Shelley has about half his stack in the middle and calls it off with  Ac Qs

Johnson has  Kc 5c

the river comes  5h, to give Johnson two pair to win the 100,000 pot

Not amongst the outs he was counting, most likely, but there you go

Akenhead 6,000, Bedford calls

To chuckles from the table Akenhead shows  Kd Th

Bedford frustratedly revels the rivered  Ahrt Jh

which I suppose shows the dangers of playing a strong hand so passively against Akenhead

both in the top ten stacks, comfortably

imo lightbourne has by far the tougher table, but he has position on Akenhead and Nick Hicks which helps and he is raising into Tony Bedford and Jim Lody, two of the old school who like to play comparatively passively. Lightbourne is active, lots of feeler pre-flop raises and seems to have a nice touch post flop. Knows where he is in pots

If you can give us some background on Iaron that would be great. I must confess i didn't know of him until yesterday. We've heard he plays cash at the Vic. Anything else you can tell us?

Danny Blair is co-tabling with Rawle and German. His main worry is he is two to the right of Antonio German, who out-chips him the only person at the table to do so

Lee Taylor raises Chaz BB, standard 3.5k,

Chaz makes it 18k.

Lee immediately "all-in!"

It doesn't take Chaz long to make the call holding AJ.

Lee has AT.

Iarom is plays high stakes cash at the vic and is an up and coming tournament player. Gl to him

James Akenhead still gonig well but not having it his own way. Sam MacDonald has moved back to his table after a table break and raises to 5600 at 1200-2400. Akenhead in position makes it 126700, only to be met by MacDonald re-re-raising to 26,700

After much thought, Akenhead lets go

Followed by an earnest discussion between the two

Fine lines, fine lines

On a board reading  3d 7c 7h 8c Ac

25,000 in the pot

Dave Johnson in the big blind bets 10,000

Toby Lewis on the button thinks and thinks and calls

Johnson flips  Qd Jh

I do a little double take

Toby goes to muck, but reveals   Qh Tc

I look a bit closer, just to make sure

Johnson "I just needed to stop you betting"

Toby almost got it right, one pip away....

Sat watching Andrew Feldman for an orbit, just thinking to myself that I hadn't seen him do much today, but still has a 250,000 stack

In the orbit he made three standard raises to 5,100 at 1,200-2,400, all uncalled

That sort of thing keeps things progressing nicely

He is sitting in position to Sam Razavi, now, and Ergun Macit

Danny Harris wins a 90,000 pot off Stephen Rawle

Rawle raised with A-10 in late position and Harris called with 8-8 in the blinds

Harris flopped middle set and check called two streets on 5-8-3-4, two clubs by the turn

the river came the Jack of clubs.

Harris checked again and faced 25,000 on the river into 40,000. The third bullet on a bluff

He called, despite the flush draw completing, and won the pot

Tony "Shagpile" Herdman is one of two surviors in the live qualifier last man standing, with Tony Curant. Entry to a GUKPT to the winner

He shoves 41,000 at 1500-3000 and it folds to Andrew Feldman in the big blind

"I will call if I have Aces" says Feldman, a clue to the tightness of Herdman in this level

"They match" says Feldman who deliberate for several minutes eventually folding  6h 6d

Herdman reveals  3c 3d with elan and panache

I joined the action with the board reading  2s Kh Qs Js 6c

In position and checked to, Hassabis has bet 31,200 into 70,000

Feldman peeks at  Kd Jh, which I think he has opened pre and seen action on flop and turn

After time he folds....

Feldman opens to 12,000, Herdman all in for 57,800, Feldman folds, Herdman shows Black Jacks

Feldman opens to 12,000, Weekes all in 59,000, Feldman folds

German raises the small blind and Joshi calls all in in the big blind for 29,000 with A6cc

He dominates German's 56hh and doubles to over 60,000

blinds currently 3-6k in Level 16, up to 4-8k in under 10 minutes

Four or five short stacks of sub 80k, Weekes, Joshi, Ben Venables, Herdman and Furnival

that blind increase will be the crucial one, I feel, for these guys, about to pay 20k per round

Yes with 14 left he is guaranteed £2,650. He also won the Live sat last longer for another £1k GUKPT entry

One of the shorter stacks but really looks to be enjoying it

Two more exits

Albert Keegan raises, Lee Taylor shoves AQ, Keegan calls with 66 and holds to knock the Boltonian out

Tony Herdman, continuing the uncanny trend of Fallen Angel Alex to bok anyone she enquires about, 10-10 into Ergun Macit's Aces

12 left as we head towards a final table, which won't start until tomorrow

Title: Re: GUKPT Luton Day 2

blinds up 5-10k-1k

Andrew Feldman knocks out Lars Bollhagen in 12th

Been watching for the final ta\ble bubble to break, but no joy left

Table 1

Ergun Macif
Michael Huber
Andrew Feldman
jonathan Weekes
George Hassibis

Feldman with chips, Weeks the shortie

Table 2

Chaz Chattha
Dan Purnival
Toby Lewis
Joe Grech
Albert Keegan
Antonio German

This table has far more chips. Purnival then Chattha the shorties. Lewis and German the chip leaders

Title: Re: GUKPT Luton Day 2

Antonio German doubles up Dan Purnival while I am typing and then down to 150k open shoves UTG+1 on the six handed table

Folded to Joe Grech in the big blind who faces a call all in, should he choose

long think, and some verbals which I did not quite catch between Toby and himself

It is all in to call, which Joe eventually does with A-8o. Not too happy, but feels he has to

German J-J

Jacks hold, and Joe Grech out 11th

We have a final table

Great update Tighty! would love to see Andrew Feldman take it down! he come down to the KC Club in Swindon for a tournament to give us some support, put a bounty on his own head paid out of his own pocket and gave everyone the time of day, all day and night! a top man!

And not sure if anyone is aware but he is donating 50% of his winnings to charity!
