Title: Boxing Memorabilia Valuation..... Post by: Dubai on September 05, 2011, 10:41:08 AM As far as am aware its a one off piece that contains 100% authentic signed gloves from 4 British boxers- Sir Henry Cooper, Frank Bruno, Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe- its framed and massive, nearly 4 foot by 4 foot and 1 foot deep- was made specifically for a childrens auction 2 years ago when I bought it- currently sits in the office but will no longer have room for it so thinking of selling it because alternative is a life in the shed
How much is it worth? How much would you pay? How much could I get for it? Assume all 3 numbers are different Title: Re: Boxing Memorabilia Valuation..... Post by: Dubai on September 05, 2011, 10:45:00 AM ha just realised can see my reflection in pics
Cant upload better ones cos says files too big, but pics dont do it justice Title: Re: Boxing Memorabilia Valuation..... Post by: millidonk on September 05, 2011, 11:15:06 AM In reality it is probs worth about £600, i would expect people to easily pay £900-1.2k though.
Obv when charities are involved stuff goes for a bundle more. How much did you pay? There are tonnes of individual signed gloves for all these still knocking about which can be picked up relatively cheap. The fact they are together in a single case is the usp. Either put em in the shed and wait 10 years and sell when there are less in circulation or put them in a specialist auction imo. Like most things if you get two people who really want it the value can rocket. Title: Re: Boxing Memorabilia Valuation..... Post by: Josedinho on September 05, 2011, 11:20:58 AM There used to be a Sports Memorabilia shop in Notts. Signed Hatton glove framed was something like £300. Reckon something like that would have retailed at over £1.5k.
Title: Re: Boxing Memorabilia Valuation..... Post by: redarmi on September 05, 2011, 11:36:27 AM Yeah would agree with the valuations so far. Actual, no markup, value is about £150 per glove i would guess.....maybe a bit more for the Cooper one now. Depends largely on whether someone would want them or not. Not so sure about Milligans idea of leaving it 10 years. I can only really see the Cooper and Calzaghe gloves increasing in value. I would imagine the Hatton glove was probably at the peak of its value when you bought it and Bruno was probably already past its best at that point. Nevertheless I am quite jealous. Nice item to have.
Title: Re: Boxing Memorabilia Valuation..... Post by: Dubai on September 05, 2011, 11:43:24 AM I said to missus earlier- Cooper 200, Calzaghe 150, Hatton 100, Bruno 50, Frame 100- added bonus as all together 200- so around 800- i actually paid 3k for it, i knew was massively overvalued but had a few beers and was charity to send little girl to America for treatment they couldnt afford.
Doubt would sell it for less than £1500- but assume couldnt get that Title: Re: Boxing Memorabilia Valuation..... Doubt would sell it for less than £1500- but assume couldnt get that Ebay and stick a reserve on it of £1500? wouldn't be surprised if you got that from boxing fans TBH. Title: Re: Boxing Memorabilia Valuation..... Post by: outragous76 on September 05, 2011, 01:13:19 PM not sure of this is feasible but worth a punt:
Have a friend who owns a business buy it for £1,500 they then donate to a charity auction who sells for x and you friend writes it off as a £1500 charitable donation? I dont know much about chaitable write offs but an option to recoup? (if you have said friend willing to punt off £1500 to charity obv) Title: Re: Boxing Memorabilia Valuation.....
